Beautiful but don't touch.  Every spine has a tiny hook on the end.  We generally carry a comb with us, in case we come in contact with it.

Yes indeed, "Claw-ya". lol

My first experience with it, I made the mistake of walking outside in my socks and stepped on a piece.  Reacting without thinking, I grabbed it.  My hand was stuck to my foot, then, both hands.....   The kind people I was visiting, yanked my socks off and helped me remove all the spines embedded in my skin.  :shakinghead:

Thanks for the chuckle-memory.  And you also reminded me that I do need to go through the 'car kit's and replace those leatherman pliers with the micro ones.

Another memory, we visited a 'wildlife museum' in that area, (Pima?) but it struck me as a 'hunters trophy' house.  Stuffed animals of all kinds.  I wonder if that one still exists, which I doubt, PITA and the like would not have liked it. I would like to take my little ones to see it, despite the negative impression I had.

Got any pics of the 'running' prickly pear?  (evil grin)

This is the one I have in my yard. Last year I made jam with the fruit.
