Jewlzm
I burnt the soup out of my fingers making a batch of pear sauce. Is there anything other than aloe that I can put on it? It hurts like the dicken! Shoot I did it again.. Can someone move this? Link to comment
goatherder
Scrape a raw potato and put it on. Leave it until it starts to dry out then put on more. My mom used this remedy when my brother was scalded with a pot of beans. He had very few blisters and no scars. Link to comment
Jewlzm
Thanks goatherder! Im gonna grab a potato! Link to comment
Teaberry
Wow. That is a good tip from Goatherder. Potatoes are usually on hand in the pantry too! I guess this is one case where the perception of "hot" potatoes is a bad rap. Link to comment
WiccadStargazer
Lavender essential oil is good too. (unless you are my DD, she hates it and hates tea tree, but DS always asks for the stuff) Link to comment
Jewlzm
I tried cool water. I even went for ice cubes after the first 20 minutes and it was still burning. Syrup is not something I care to get burnt with because it keeps burning even after you wipe it off. Link to comment
theyd
what i have done for burns and it seems that i am always burning myself in the kitchen. the first thing is i clean the burn off if there is something on it, second i grab the mustard and squirt some on and let dry it seems to cool the burn right away. i have used aloe also; ice cubes. and vit E after to keep it from scaring. this works for me Link to comment
jtsmama
What I usually do for burns of my hands is put some ice cubes with a lil bit of water into a ziplock lunch baggie. I can carry it around with my without having a dripping mess all over the place. ~Sue P.S. Sorry you got burned Link to comment

8thsinner
An old black smiths trick is to use heat, and it works a lot better than ice, Ice cools the pain however doesn't romote healing as much as applying heat. Use the heat from a candle, cooker, lighter etc, not hot water. Also remember Honey is a good one for burns. Link to comment

ScrubbieLady
when we get burned we usally use aloe vera plant. my husband breaks off a piece and rubs it on and it cools down very fast. we put it on after we run water over it. sorry you got burned. That is what we use. If it is a small burn(smaller than a bandaid), cut the piece of aloe to fit and then put a bandaid or gauze and tape over it and leave it on, when it dries out, replace the aloe and recover. Friend kept her daughter from getting a scar from a bad muffler pipe burn(motorcycle). Link to comment
