Annarchy
Another Widow... She busies herself with all the affairs of losing her husband and living alone. For now, she has company they come and they go reminding her of the memories she already knows. She'll deal with the things that must be done but deep down inside she knows she is 'one'. The evening creeps in time for dinner and such everyone's gone home she's left without much. Uncertainty and wonder fill the quiet air things she would talk about when he was there. How, doesn't matter "why did he leave?" saddened by the thoughts she cries herself to sleep. Another day is upon her as she fills it with stuff to take away the loneliness that makes it so rough. Dedicated to all the widows in my life. Link to comment
Stephanie
Awwww, That is soooo precious! My grandmother, who will be 90 in Feb, talks about my grandfather all the time, re-living days gone by. Even though he's been gone 25 years, he remains the love of her life. Link to comment
rootdiggr
Thank you for sharing that. Last week, a friend of mine lost her husband of 40 years. Your poem expresses some of the concerns I have for her. Her children all live nearby, she is very active with her job, church and volunteer work, home is paid for, financial situation is good. But, at the end of the day, she is still alone. I know that she will keep going, and eventually it won't be so hard. But now is really rough. Link to comment
