  1. I don't remember if I posted this or not but...Several months ago I was checking my bank account on-line and saw that I had money missing. I went to the bank and they stopped my card, issued another one & said they would check into it. About two days later my bank account was emptied using my wife's card. We went back to the bank & they checked & said I tried to buy plane tickets to Turkey. They stopped everything (and the airline declined it) and got another new card. I got all of my money back. Everything has been good until yesterday. I got a call from American Express asking me to call them. I could not understand the person taking because he talked too fast. I went on-line & got their contact number & called this morning. After proving who I was over the phone they said I applied for a card last month. NO I DIDN'T!!! They made an entry about the problem & assured me I was not liable for any charges. They also said they would send me a letter in the mail within 30 days about the problem. I also had to call my bank, and all 3 credit reporting companies to put a fraud alert on my name. Why can't people stop being thieves? Oh, and of course there is no way anyone knows who did this. If I could have 3 seconds alone with this person(s), they would not be able to do it again, I promise. Lesson to be learned from all of this? Check your accounts everyday & if you get a phone call about your credit, check into it. John
  2. I deleted all of the notices and used a link from a post I did. I signed up for a lot of things, probably stuff we don't want but It looked necessary. Now we shall see what happens. John
  3. Late last night I received 7 emails from different government branches from which I get recall notifications & other things. They all are are titled "Subscriber deleted". I have not unsubscribed from any of them so it makes me wonder what happened. I refuse to open any of them. So, I shall wait a few days to see if I get any notifications if I do not then I will need to go & re-subscribe. I also find ts strange that they were all timed stamped at the same time. John
  4. http://www.cnn.com/2016/06/22/health/cdc-flumist-nasal-spray-flu-vaccine/index.html *Snip CDC panel recommends against using FluMist vaccine By Susan Scutti, CNN Updated 7:46 PM ET, Wed June 22, 2016 (CNN)Flu vaccines are about to get more painful. A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advisory committee recommended on Wednesday that FluMist, the nasal spray influenza vaccine, should not be used during the upcoming flu season. "To everyone's surprise and increasing consternation, this vaccine has performed quite poorly compared to the injectable vaccine," said Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease specialist. An alternative to the standard flu shot, FluMist had been approved for people between the ages of 2 and 49 years old by the Food and Drug Administration. The CDC committee, which includes 15 immunization experts, reviewed data from previous flu seasons, including the most recent season, comparing FluMist with the standard flu shot. Though the viruses in FluMist are live, they have been weakened (attenuated, in medical terms) and work by stimulating the immune system. There are two versions of FluMist: one a trivalent vaccine, which protects against three strains of flu virus, and the other a quadrivalent, protecting against four strains. "We agree with [the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices'] decision today to recommend health care providers and parents use only the inactivated vaccine," Dr. Benard Dreyer, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics, said in a statement. The Pediatric Infectious Disease Society also stated its support during the hearing. Yet, prior to its recent poor performance, all evidence showed the spray worked better than the flu shot in children under the age of 8. And, during those sunny days, the CDC committee expressed a preference for the mist over the shot. During the hearing, Dr. Chris Ambrose of MedImmune shared results from the company's 2015-16 influenza vaccine effectiveness study, which found the FluMist quadrivalent vaccine to be 46% effective, compared with the flu shot's 65% effectiveness. However, Dr. Brendan Flannery of the CDC presented data indicating that FluMist had zero effectiveness against one strain of flu. Acknowledging that FluMist offered advantages in the past, especially for children, Sun said the FDA would continue to work with MedImmune. "At this point, we're not ready to take a requirement for changing prescribing information," he said. John
  5. I went to a pain clinic for injections in my back a number of years ago. When he put the needle in the first time I flinched & he said I had to remain still. I said I couldn't because it hurt. He tried again & again I flinched. He told me again I had to remain still but in an less than nice tone. I told him that it hurt & there was no way I could. He repeated again that I had to & at that point I told him that if he could numb the area I could. "He" conversed with a nurse & came up with a drug to put on my back, not in it. I asked if it was cold since cold sends my back into spasms & was told it was. The entire staff was getting flustered which did not help my attitude at all. It was then I said if you can't numb me up then we are done. I got up off of the table & started getting dressed & they seemed like they had never had someone do that before. It's my body & when I tell someone I hurt, I hurt. My regular doctor has suggested pain management & I keep declining to go since I have put up with back pain for 43 years. I really don't think anything can be done at this point. My back surgeon told me a year after surgery when my conditioned worsened that there was nothing he could do. I have been going to water therapy for 3 weeks but I see no improvement. I'll give it another 2 weeks & if I'm not getting any relief, I'll stop. I hope you have better results than I have had. John

    I'm sorry...

Here is the story: When I got to the site this morning to post I saw a lot of posts by a new member. They were posts in a lot of forums. When I opened several of the posts they were in french and filled with links. The member's ID stated they lived in the USA but their IP address showed it as being in another country. I deleted a post and started to delete others when I thought maybe I should save the post & let Cat know about them. I copied some post & notified her and she looked at them & by mistake moved the entire thread to where post go to be looked into when reported. Cat has her plate full right now & made an honest error. But the error was started by me. If I had notified her or Annarchy first this would never had happened. Therefore I take the blame for her mistake. Annarchy has since taken care of the posts. Clear as mud? John
