    Back on Track!!

Oh Dee..I sympathize with you. Most people only need to lose about 20 or so pounds. It is harder the more you need to lose. I am not as brave as you to post my actual weight but I have QUITE a bit to go still too. Actually when the going gets tough I tell myself at least I didn't gain this week. If I am not watching what I eat I can easily gain 5 pounds in a week. To paraphrase that great motivational speaker Bob the Builder, "Can we do it? Yes we can!!"
  2. Ginger... I have found that after the first 2 weeks I really don't have a problem staying on the diet. I have a few quick items I can grab in case of emergency like buffalo wings that can be microwaved in a few minutes. Or I'll have about 10 mixed nuts. Or a tablespoon of peanut butter. I usually don't need a snack though but I like to be prepared just in case. Even though they are "legal" I try to avoid sausage, bacon, ham and hot dogs as much as possible because of the way they are processed.
  3. Breakfast small serving cottage cheese sliced tomato Lunch grilled hamburger with grilled onions handful (about9) cherries Dinner (will be) all the steak I can eat (at a local restaurant) lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing
  4. Come on troops. Let's see more reports. Maybe we'll get ideas from each other. Breakfast sliced tomato egg salad (no bread or crackers) just salad Lunch Stir fried chicken breast strips steamed asparagus with butter Dinner (will be) small slice of melon lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing grilled, marinated pork chops
  5. Okay, I confess..I miss 2 things..Pizza and Cheesecake. I admit I lay in wait when we are at DS's house and he orders 2 large pizza delivered. I snack on an order of hot wings and then..when everyone has had their fill...I eat the top of the remaining pizzas!! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm good!
  6. When I did Atkins the first time(when his first book was out) I was much younger. I stuck to 10 grams a day or less. I lost 60 lbs in 6 months and then for the next 4 months didn't lose a bit. Now that I'm older I think it's dangerous to do such a radical diet. So for the better part of two years I've been on it again. I don't really count every gram but I keep it around 20-25 grams. I decided a little fruit , about half a serving a day would be a "good thing". I don't eat just any fruit though. I know bananas are a big no no. Even half a banana. I have berries, citrus, or melon type fruits. With the veggies I stick to the low carb kind. No potatoes, carrots etc. I don't weigh very often either. I try not to think of it as a diet. So far this year I'm averaging about 1 1/2 pound a week loss. My health hasn't suffered any and I don't feel deprived. To me the best thing about Atkins is on those rare occasions when you are just starving at least you have a few things you can pig out on. I always have buffalo wings ready in the freezer to nuke or some pork rinds just in case!
  7. I don't make it a point to remember all family history dates but this one is sooo easy. Today my great grandparents got married 114 years ago. Always know this one 8-8-88. That is August 8, 1888. I wonder if my Greatgrandpa had a hard time remembering his anniversary. You know how hard it is for some men!
  8. Breakfast today ham and cheese omelet 1 small slice of cantaloupe Lunch pork roast green beans sliced tomatoes Dinner baked chicken breasts steamed asparagus
  9. That is so "cool" and "groovy" except I "Don't trust anyone over 30". And never forget "Flower Power" and "Press on Regardless"
  10. Oh Snow that reminds me of a time about 15 years ago when we were visiting DH's old stomping grounds in Ohio. He loves to go to Bob Evans to eat and get the sausage gravy and fried mush. So, we went there for breakfast and when his mush came it was only one slice. He was irritated and figured they had cut back the portions from the two slices they used to serve. Then I looked at the bill and they had written down Senior mush, which is only 1 slice. I had a good laugh over that one. He wasn't anywhere near a senior then but I guess to the young waitresses he must have looked ancient.
  11. Well whenever I turn 40 I'll let you all know. (Momo is laughing hysterically to herself..they can't see over the internet) BTW if you marry a much older man you can join AARP way before 50. I was in my early 30's when I joined courtesy of DH.
  12. Oh yes, the famous mead from Brit. Lit. in high school. All the historical British figures hung out in Mead Halls. (Todays equivalent the neighborhood bar!)
  13. Food diary for today. I'm on a modified Atkins which means no sugar or white flours. Breakfast- a large ham/cheese omelet and a small slice of cantaloupe Lunch-a grilled pork chop, green beans Snack-8 cherries Dinner (will be) Baked chicken and steamed asparagus with butter.
  14. Great news!! I'm going to have to look up "Mom" when we take our upstate New York trip!
  15. Yeah Snow!!! BTW did you get my ICQ authorization? I sent it about 3 days ago and I haven't heard back yet.
  16. I have found death certificates to be a great source of information. Unfortunately, most states didn't require them until the early 1900's. It is also difficult to order D/C's by mail unless you know the exact death date. They are quite often well worth the effort though. Usually have maiden name of mother, place of birth, last address of deceased, cause of death, career etc. Alot more than you may realize.
  17. I had a ham and cheese omelet for breakfast. A large beef patty with a lettuce and tomato salad for lunch. For my mid-afternoon snack a small handful of mixed nuts. (About 10 nuts). Dinner will be grilled pork chops and asparagus.
  18. I have about 2 cases of lamp oil. Although DH never got the Y2K spirit, for some reason he thought he would buy alot of lamps and oil. Just in case. I think he figured he would make a killing selling it at exorbitant rates or something. I don't know. Now that we are prepared our power never goes out! It used to go out weekly but now that so many rich people have built mini-mansions near us the power never goes out. Funny about the utilities around here. Once the rich people started moving in our services are SOOO much better.
  19. Congrats Dee!!!! Have yourself a nice, big batch of buffalo wings!!!! Hmmm. That's my favorite legal treat to myself.
  20. I assumed you meant running vehicles. I have a few "antiques" in the back forty. I do live in Alabama you know. LOL, Want an updated inventory?
  21. Yoo hoo Snow!!!! I sent you an ICQ this morning. Hope you got it. I guess it's a pain to redo that ICQ program. I sure hope mine never dies!! The only thing I really use ICQ for is to message people that I don't have an e-mail for. (That is of course assuming I have an ICQ # for them)
  22. At the moment we have a halflinger pony, 2 pigs, a pygmy goat, 6 assorted hens,3 cats, a german shepherd and a pond full of catfish. (I mean 2 goats if you count DH!)
  23. Heresy Dar!!! People around here in the "Deep South" would cringe to hear you say cornbread is cornbread. That's like saying a biscuit is just a biscuit!
  24. Let us know how the Dr. visit goes tomorrow. I've heard about the Atkins bread but I can't find anyone around here who carries it.
