  1. My answer is "more".. no matter what you have the answer is "more"
  2. I would do it. I often use some apple sauce to fill in a batch. Just did it with apricot and you can't tell. But the blackberries with raspberries would be good.
  3. Seeing stuff floating around now saying that as long as your doc writes the script so that you can get generics and such you can still get the basic med and delivery for much cheaper.. just not name brand.
  4. Deflation is a reduction in the amount of money in circulation typically causing depression and falling prices. A depression is a correction period following an inflation (an increase in the amount of money in circulation causing money to lose it's value and so prices rise). Really great book if you want plain easy to understand economics "Whatever Happened to Penny Candy" by Richard Mayberry https://www.amazon.com/Whatever-Happened-Explanation-Economics-Investments/dp/0942617649/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1472017888&sr=8-1&keywords=whatever+happened+to+penny+candy
  5. While I was signed up for both so I followed the link to keep from getting doubled up
  6. Be careful to check how much it costs and what you'd get... even with 3 of us needing glasses it's cheaper to pay out of pocket for every 2 year eye exams and glasses (love zenni optical) than it would be to pay every month for vision coverage.
  7. Nice thing about freezing as opposed to canning is you don't have to worry about the ph of the ingredients.. any spaghetti sauce can be frozen. I don't even use a recipe for mine.. just tomato sauce, chopped tomatoes, onions, browned hamburger, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, rosemary, a splash of red wine.
  8. For allergies increase vitamin C.. your body uses vitamin C during a reaction and so by increasing the vitamin C your reaction will decrease. I can manage most of spring and summer just by increasing vit. C.. there's still some days I need a benedryl or so but that's better than all the time. And speaking of old time drinks. I saw this link the other day for "shrubs". http://thesurvivalmom.com/shrubs/?utm_campaign=coschedule&utm_source=facebook_page&utm_medium=The%20Survival%20Mom&utm_content=Cherry%20Shrub:%20A%20Different%20Kind%20of%20Summer%20Drink
  9. I find they do season a bit like cast iron and work the better for it.. just be sure to use the dark pan directions instead of shiny when something has it.
  10. Rather than just omitting them.. I would use more cucumber in place of the onions. So instead of 4 cups cukes and 2 cups onions.. you'd do 6 cups cukes. That way the bulk of your recipe stays the same with regards to the vinegar and spices and all.
  11. Even some Prime items will say something like "once it ships".. that it's an item that takes longer to ship. And you can't count the holiday weekend.. so 2 business days generally.. The reason I like it is often free shipping is tied to order total.. it's sure nice to be able to order a $12 item when I need it, than come up with the extra money to top the $25 total to get the free shipping... and then have it take a couple of weeks to get here. And check your actual tracking numbers because the estimates may say one thing and the actual tracking another.
  12. the hard white wheat can also grind up into a lighter and whiter loaf while still being whole wheat (instead of hard red wheat which is your typical whole wheat)
  13. Nice! when we have tomatoes we usually don't pick them green until we have to, to save them from frost.. so fall is when we eat fried green tomatoes and make green tomato salsa and such.
  14. Is it water in the hose or just the hose itself getting hot and heating the water that travels through? Maybe both.
  15. how about eyebolts in the wall and bungee cords.. you could just unclip them to get the tools out. Jeepers I at turning the picture sideways.
  16. The problem with those long handled tool holders is the height of the ceiling you'll need to be able to lift them out. My tool shed isn't near tall enough.
  17. Vitamin c is also a great remedy for coughs. It thins the mucus lining the lungs and makes it easier for gunk to be mobile and coughed out. I've got all my firefighter friends using it to help with smoke inhalation (and camp crud).. it works well.
  18. Try the paste toothpaste on bee stings.. the little travel size are easy to carry and it takes the sting out and reduces swelling to the point that, depending on the person, within a few hours there's no visible sign of the sting. Pineapple doesn't just reduce swelling but reduces inflammation (swelling) and speeds healing.. it works even better combined with ginger (another anti-inflammatory).. they taste great together in a smoothie. (all swelling includes sinus swelling) The honey/lemon for a sore throat/cough works great.. you can also sip it as a hot lemonade... honey is a natural antibiotic and the lemon oils soothe the throat. You can make a garlic oil to use in the ears.. chop the garlic up and heat up in a small amount of oil until the garlic browns (but doesn't burn) strain and store in the fridge.. heat to skin temp (I put the small bottle into a glass of hottest tap water) and it immediately soothes as well.
  19. Looks like it really depends on storage... that when it absorbs moisture (just from normal air) that it will degrade.
  20. when I make biscuits for biscuits and gravy I need 1/2 cup baking pwd. Small cans are worthless here
  21. So for long term storage you want cream of tartar and baking soda... not baking pwd. That's good to know. I keep a lot of baking pwd on hand just because we go through a lot. But I do have cream of tartar (the snickerdoodle recipe is just not the same with baking pwd) and baking soda.. plus recipes for sour dough.
  22. My very first thought.. and second thought and third thought.. even if I was inclined to purchase this way.. ummmm NO!!
  23. Oh boy.. gonna try gardening more/again/still and been making a list.. I want to get seeds for all sorts of things.. but I'm also looking at starting an asparagus bed, horseradish, strawberries and raspberries (all perennial).
  24. Also pineapple And I've heard that avoiding nightshades can make a lot of difference for joint pain.
