I stopped buying liquid milk. I use powdered milk in everything now. There are only two of us so, liquid milk often went unfinished.

Asking again. Does anyone know if you can use a torch?

Just thinking...will a torch work or is the flame too cold?

Is it advisable to solar cook in a pressure cooker? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I've lived in a mobile home in the woods and in the "city". The country trailer had plenty of snakes and mice. I mean rattlers and moccasins. They hide from the heat underneath. The squirrels played football on the rooftop with the pecans that constantly fell during winds, pine cones made a bigger racket, raccoons were even worse. Rain storms were auditory experiences. We had storm windows so it wasn't too cold in winter but, you can only cool a tin box so much in summer. In the city trailer it was hot in summer, cold in winter and not insulated for sound. We were always complaining about the couple on one side arguing and the guy on the other side beating his wife. If the neighbors across the road played their stereo we were bombarded with R&B one direction and speed metal the other. We could hear every step taken and every door opened or closed by other family members. There was practically no storage so many trailer park residents bought storage sheds since there were no garages. Like I said before plenty of rodents and when it caught fire due to a problem in the fuse box it burned to the ground in less than 15 minutes. My dad was sleeping on the couch 7 feet from the front door and got out in time. Nobody ese was home. The fire inspector told the complex manager f my dad had started that fire e would not have made it out alive. HTH!

My feeble brain is working...I wonder if you make a corn bag with a "flap" like a pillow sham that folds over the end if it will it keep the corn inside, yet, still allow you to remove it and wash the bag. Example: two rectangles sewn together on three sides with a square on the end of one side attached at the top and two sides of one rectangle. Fill the rectangles with corn and flip the flap over to close. To wash flip the flap back the other way and pour out the corn.

The quickest way to "purge" shrimp, crawdads or etc is to put them in milk then rinse with water. I wonder if you can do this to worms. Even so I still ain't eatin' any!

hey were all soft enough today so I put them in my blender (Magic Bullet) and liquefied them, Skin, bones, etc & a bit of broth. It went great on the dog's kibble and they really seemed excited about it. Plus, with the broth/stock/ dunno what to call it already hot instant store brand stuffing I picked up on clearance was a snap. Add a stick of real butter to an 8x8 pyrex dish, add 3 cups broth and two boxes of stuffing mix. Wait 5 minutes and Viola!

I have a question. Since all the families are going to be so far apart how will they communicate? I doubt there will be internet.

Annaarchy, just FYI, sandalwood is more rare than it used to be. I sort of remember from a lecture in the Texas Soapmaker's Convention a few years back the speaker saying a few years ago there was a tsunami in Indonesia? ( I could be wrong about the origin) where a lot of sandalwood came from and sandalwood forests were destroyed. The prices shot way up. A tree has to be a certain strain and older than 40 years to create sufficent oil to warrant it's destruction. Leah, tell it all. I am comepletely ignorant.

I'm boiling chicken bones, skin and fat to make stock, so, i decided to see how long it takes the bones to soften if I cook them on 25% power on my electric range.

So 5 or 6 grams is a serving? That would be easy. It isn't very much.
