About ladybug60

  1. Thank you all for such a warm welcome. I'll let you know how the strawberry jam turns out. It's my first time to can, but I have so many small jars and the berries are on sale this week. We suffered quite a cold spell for about two weeks, but the temps are back in the 40-60 range. After the berries, I'm going to try my hand at my favorite fruit, which is granny smith apples. My son wants me to learn to can so he doesn't have to cook anymore. ha ha, not much of a survivalist, but I wasn't either two years ago, so there is always a beginning. Here in hurricane country the wise know how to prepare for 1-2 wks of no electricity, which means no gas pumps, atm's etc., but other than that, planning for a full blown disaster, I'm just now learning. Looking forward to gaining as much knowledge as possible. Thanks again for such a warm welcome!
  2. How do you like my avatar? Thinking of you.
  3. Thank you, thank you. Looking forward to being part of this community. Going to make strawberry jam this weekend and can it. The strawberries are cheap right now, and most of them made it through the cold snap down in Tampa, FL.
  4. Thank you for the welcome! Can't wait to gain some knowledge, specifically in canning apples. I have all the equipment, jars, lids, canner, etc. except the drive to actually sit down and do it. After I master that, I want to try my hand at canning spaghetti meat sauce. My son wants me to learn how to can so he doesn't have to cook anymore. (LOL)
  5. I was introduced to the site tonight by a good friend. I'm looking forward to gaining knowledge from others who are more educated in homesteading, food prep, canning, gardening, and sewing than I am. I'm excited about being here, and want to say hello to all. ladybug60
