  1. I would go knock on the door, if no answer I would call the police & have them do a welfare check.

    DAR

I thought that once one of your ancester's was accepted to DAR then you just had to prove your lineage to that person.
  3. How is your potassium? I had a lot of those same symptoms, the irregular heartbeat on and off, short of breath, so tired I couldn't even sit up. When it got to where I couldn't walk to the bathroom that I went to the ER. It took them 3 days to get my potassium up where it belonged, it was that low. Mine was an extreme case though. Are you having any weakness on one side of your body, slurring words, unable to grip things. That could be a sign of a stroke.
  4. You might want to try monistat. Wash the rash area well but gently, pat dry gently. Make sure you are completly dry. Then apply the monistat.
  5. My cat got in a fight outside about 10 days ago with another cat. He has 3 cuts to the side of his neck. We cleaned the wounds with peroxide at first. Seemed to be heeling fine, in the last few days they have opened up (from scratching?) Two of smaller cuts have scabbed over again but the biggest one is oozing (very slightly yellow, but more no color). It's not oozing a lot. The cut is about 1/4" long and not very deep. I need to know how to help with the healing. How should I clean it? Should I be putting some medicine on it? Cover it with a bandage? He is also loosing the fur around the wounds. I can't put one of those cones on him as it would rub right across the cuts. He has his claws. Thanks in advance.

    Dry Skin

My step dad had very dry skin and his Dr. had him use baby oil. But being from farm country (not that I live on one) have you tried bag balm?
  7. I'm so excited for tonight, it will be our 1st annual friends-giving. We are all bringing our favorite dishes. And then a night of playing cards. Only 1 rule, you must wear sweats or jammie pants!
  8. I know how you are feeling. DD3 will be going to college a few hours away tomorrow and DD2 is going to college here in town next week. Now if DD3 would just start packing....

Thank you all for caring. Granddaughter got her stitches out yesterday. She is doing wonderful. And Daddy built her a new swing set!

    Dog bites

My daughter usually has gates up, She thinks one of them just didn't close properly. The dog was put down that evening. Sorry, should have added that to my original post.

    Dog bites

On Friday my 16 month old granddaughter got bit multiple times on her face by the family dog. She needed 15 stitches. We don't expect any scarring, the Dr. did a great job. We were so lucky, the dog just missed her eye, ear, and throat, Thank God. She is doing wonderful, up and running around as usual. When she got home she promptly petted the other 2 dogs, touched her face and told them no no no. I just wanted to remind everyone to really watch young ones around the pets. It happened so fast.
  12. I love this site. I've gotten a lot of info there too. Have you tried Mundia? I've gotten a lot of info there also along with pictures. I found a picture of my grandpa and that was priceless as he died when I was young.

    Marble table

The table is 30" square. My mom had a stand made of wrought iron. Only 3 edges are finished on the marble and one is left in the original shape from being taken from the stone. My Grandfather was raised as Quaker and his family was the most important to him, so I keep family photos on it. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll probably bug my husband to get the correct type of saw blade. Should you be putting water on it while cutting? Amishway Homesteaders--I can see making a frame for the marbles and cover with glass or something clear, You could make your own table or a tray, etc. Thanks

    Marble table

I have a 1 inch thick marble slab that my Grandfather got while demolishing a building in downtown Kansas City back in the mid 1960’s. It weighs at least 50 pounds if not more. It is my most precious belonging. If SHTF and I must leave my house forever and can’t drive my car, how would I break off a piece of that marble?
  15. I imagine you are feeling like you are breathing through a straw. My youngest daughter has had numerous asthma attacks and we almost lost her once. We got to the Dr.'s office and she went blue and passed out. So don't mess around, it can get bad very, very quickly. Do you have a nebulizer or just an inhaler. If you have a nebulizer have you done multiple treatments 2 or 3 times in a row? Here are some other home remedies that I have: Have someone cup their hand (like a beauty queen waving) and very firmly pat your back.. You need to break up the mucus (NO milk products until you feel better). Try a steam bath. Hot water in a bowl, put your head down and cover with a towel. Try putting some Eucalyptus or vicks vapor rub in with it. (I know you said you can’t stand smells right now., but it can help) Of course check with your Dr. before doing any of this.
  16. I have had anxiety attacks for years now. A few things that help me is listening to some favorite music. I have a couple of cd's I've made myself. Try to control your breathing. Breathe in through your nose, count to 10, exhale through your mouth. This will be hard to do at the beginning of the attack, you will probably only count to 2. But just keeping trying. It gives your mind something else to think about. While hot tea works, so does an ice cold drink. A cold cloth to the back of neck helps. Sleep with lavender under your pillow, it is calming. I don't think that you can get kava in the US, but you can get valerian . However valerian tastes horrible, it tastes like it smells. Xanax and drugs like it are highly addictive, so be careful.
