Momo
This is a good website for those with Quaker ancestors. On the right hand side it also has many links to further research. http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/index.htm Link to comment
Glynn
Thank you, Momo. This looks interesting. I will spend some time poking around there, plus I've forwarded it on to the old aunties who track our ancestors. We were Quakers from the beginning (mid-1600s) and my mom's generation is the first to wander from the fold, so I grew up in a different faith. Link to comment
Momo
You're welcome. I found some actual minutes of my husbands family at their services over 100 years ago. Link to comment
Snowmom
I'll have to take a better look when I have more time. It looks like there could have been some of my family in there. Link to comment
Glynn
So far I've stumbled across many links that are no longer valid. That's always such a disappointment, especially since they are surnames. I'll keep trying. Link to comment
Momo
I wish I had super glue for all those broken links! Sometimes if you enter the name of the webpage in google they will have the site cached and you can look for it there. Link to comment
The MacKinnon
I have a bunch of Quaker ancestors from MD/VA/NC/GA/TN. Names are: SANDERS, WRIGHT, SMITH, HOLLOWEL, and others I can't remember now (notes are packed up). They start in MD, some VA then to the north end of the Great Dismal Swamp to the south end of same, on to Augusta GA area and up to McMinn county TN. Try Henshaw's Quaker Oats - er, records, too. Most complete. It's fun trying to read the dates, since Quakers wouldn't use names of months or days. Link to comment
