Yart
I looked through the forums but I wasn't able to find an answer. So if it has already been answered somewhere else, sorry. Is it safe to raw pack hamburger to pressure can? And if it is, how long? Thanks in advance Link to comment
Violet
Yart, if you will bookmark this site, http://www.uga.edu/nchfp/index.html you will find most of your answers there. You cook the hamburger first, then drain, and process in water or broth. Link to comment
amyd
I think raw packing would leave too much fat on even the leanest of ground beef. You want all possible fat removed before processing. The fat can cause the meat to go rancid. Link to comment
Jakk
Definitely cook it first, and then rinse it with hot water to get as much fat off as possible. Then you can process it with water. Link to comment
