Events of this summer....aieee!

Recommended Posts

Whew!  :imoksmiley:  What a day....what a week....what a month....what a summer.  Saga continues.  I'm doing almost everything cuz going to work 2X per week and other obligations are wasting DH away.  EVEN with the O2.  Last nite I got confused and only THOT I took the sleep aid.  Went to sleep from 7-11:30AM.  :gaah:

Today CO was in about the 90% range of the eclipse ....which only meant that it was slightly WEIRDLY dark for about an hour.  An hour when I would have been getting animals fed.  But I waited...kept window shades firmly in place on eastern windows.  Didn't let Koa, goat, or ducks out of their houses until it was passed.  THEN...I was in a hurry.  Put on a wet sleeved shirt to keep me cool and ran around doing animals chores.  We had an appointment with finance person at the medical clinic and then DH had a different obligation.

:knary:  I had to keep adding cool bib....gel packs...etc during the finance meeting.  I was supposed to either PRINT NAME and DateOfBirth.....OR......SIGN NAME and Today's Date.  Of COURSE I got them mixed up after a dozen or so...  The finance person was kind and efficient and got us out of her too-warm-for-MS office as quickly as possible.

We did the drive thru at Wendy's .....FROSTY to cool me.....protein to sustain me.... Then I stayed at my folks HOT house and watched movie.  DH went on to his meeting and came back very weary.  I'd cooled down but their house was waaaay too hot for DH.  So I began loading up my stuff back into car.

You know....I noticed I'm keeping one eye ..and/or one ear on DH at all times now.  :sigh:

So I'm carrying my many bags/stuff and try to open car.  Back door opened [isn't supposed to when it's locked...malfunction] and to the HORROR OF MY EARS/NERVOUS SYSTEM.....the blasted alarm went off.  The cheating/lying snakes that sold us the car [altho it's been very good!]  NEVER DID SEND US THE SECOND SET OF KEYS.  :motz_6:

And DH is in bathroom ....keys in his pockets...when I rush in to get the only way one can SHUT OFF THE NOISE!  :banghead::runcirclsmiley2:I DETEST CAR ALARMS!!!

So we went home.....and once he got cooled down, DH felt better......but he's not doing well at all.  So we talked about how he's so much worse after he started trying to go to work.  And maybe that's not a good idea yet.  And how me doing EVERYTHING ELSE so he can go to work is not feasible for long.

Then my folks call....concerned cuz they saw how bad he's looking.  Offered to cover us for whatever $ DH would get from work.....so he can stay home for a month.

Yanno, it's kind of unusual to still have both of my parents when I'm this old.  But wow.....it is a blessing to have that kind of back-up.  I hope DH will decide to take more time off.  Even the O2 is not making up the difference.  His whole body has had a trauma and needs down time to heal.  As a doctor....he does know that and he's getting the idea that this battle is won from bed, mostly, in the beginning.  Not just the two wks he took off in the beginning.  It's been 4 wks and his functioning is worse.  I think he's going to take the opportunity for this break and rest again.  :amen:

MtRider ....prayers still greatly appreciated.  My whole body was BUZZING when I finally got to lay on bed with feet up....  :0327:

I hope your DH accepts your parents help too. He needs to get his health built back up for both of your sakes.

I think we all have needed a little assistance from time to time. I know we did. At one time, if it wasn't for my in-laws and my grandma I don't know how we would have made it. Later in life, we turned around and helped some of our family members. It's just what families do.

I know how some men (and women too) can be about that though. :beat_deadhorse:

DH KNOWS how fragile I am.  {hate the word "fragile" but if the shoe fits....}  I've only been able to do this much cuz I'm VERY experienced at using adrenaline.  And when I brought up that he wouldn't just be laying around, healing, he looked at it differently.  I kinda thot he would agree to stop and heal.  He called his boss and said to take him off the schedule after Wed & Fri this week.  Sooooo....we'll see.  On Fri, I see the same doc that saw him.  I'm gonna pick his brain on the O2 and BP thing.  His waking BP is not really coming down.  And he seems to be weaker....but is trying to walk around a bit to keep up muscle and stamina.  If he can get O2, there's no reason he can't do mild walking.  Well, that is IF he doesn't trip and get more big bruises that can throw clots....or get cut and really bleed on the blood thinners....or.....

MtRider  ...this too shall pass...and there is His Purpose in it....

AFter much discussion, DH told manager he really needed to go on medical leave after working today.  That means NOT working one more day on Friday.  Cuz......I'm DONE already.  Way low energy.  Gotta circle the wagons and hunker down for the storm.

And he can come in with me to MY doc appt on Friday.  I don't have to be in town alllll day/nite in folks' HOT house while waiting for him to get off work at 10 PM.

:amen:

Just talked to him and his voice is waaaay strained/hoarse.  That's with O2!!!   Working is NOT appropriate for him at this time.  O2 company delivered 2 more bottles....in time to partially fill another one for today.  He's using a higher 'puff' setting at work today....and still straining.

Now.....with him home.....we can do what MUST be done together.  Either tag team [who feels less wiped out right now] or side by side to finish in half the time.  We do either really well.   OK....we can do this....with God's help!

:amen:

MtRider  .....getting that buzzzing feeling all over body again.  That's a sign of super-fatigue.  :imoksmiley:

Going to the clinic in person today DID fix the 'script problem.  They all looked and saw that while he was supposed to continue with the meds  [duh! This is going to be months with this pulmonary embolism] .....yet there was no further action.  Everyone looked and said.... Huh?   Yes....the ball was dropped and a nurse picked it up/dusted it off/ talked to DH and by the time we were done and heading to the pharmacy-------the meds were there!  :amen:      All that nonsense means there was an oversight without action.  And you have to appear in person to get it fixed.  Disgusting.

The doc dodged the question I posed....if DH's Blood Pressure hasn't come down from 200+ over whatever by ____{this many days}______, then call to make an appointment here.  If his legs swell with edema so his ankles and calves are the same diameter, we should do what?

It was my appointment but seriously, we should have left HIS appointment with this data.

I had to waste energy show up again  .....so he could write a referral to a specialist.  Even tho he already knew I needed that.....just because it was DH's appointment, I had to travel in to MY appointment so he could write a referral.  Waste 3 days worth of energy each time I have to go into town.  :0327:  So if I'm wanting to sneak in some answers about DH while at MY appointment.....don't let me hear you whining.  :baseballbat:

Corporate health care is WASTING MY SCARCE ENERGY and I'm NOT HAPPY ABOUT IT!  :motz_6:      Can't we return to sanity?

Assessment:  .......not entirely successful.....but he didn't tell DH to check into the hospital or ER.  I suppose that says something.  AND he got his pills TODAY!  Good, since the heart med was done as of today and everyone agreed that it should be continued.

MtRider......that was the second half of my day....

:amen:   :happy0203:    The first half of the day was good.  More unexpected energy expenditure....but resulted in one project completed.

I'd called someone from my church.  She'd asked me several days ago....is there anything we can do to help you and DH?  I said no at the time and then realized that we DO need help.  Yep.....that demolished horse fencing.  Unfortunately, M came over just after we'd gotten up this morning.  Said he'd tried to call but didn't get an answer.  {that's because we're still in bed!}  No one understands people on a different life schedule.  Which is why the phone is unplugged until we are both up for the day.  We MUST get sleep above all else.

Fortunately, we were up when he arrived.  A bit of a scramble to show him what was needed.  DH went down ....M just wanted to see it.  Then he decided it was simple enough to do this morning and with the tools he'd brought.  DH drove back up and I went down to feed critters and ......well, I stopped him from digging a hole in the wrong place.  Went thru the details and then he got it straight without undoing much.  I assisted and brought rocks to chuck into the post holes.....something to solidify in this coarse, sand type soil.  He knew fencing and liked the rock idea.  I had to keep running up [with car] to get tools and a board.  Also doing morning chores.  :0327:   Got overheated and grabbed a gel pack and kept getting what he needed.  [course if we'd know he was coming.....more prep would have been done...]

It worked and within a couple hours, we had our fence and gate back in place.  :amen:  :hapydancsmil::amen:     THANK YOU, M !!!!!!!!

Too worn out after town to move them over tonite.  Threw duck food/water in and shut them up.  Did Koa-walk with the car.  Called it a night!  DH made a simple version of spaghetti.  His is usually more seasoned with garlic/onion/etc.  Had little energy so it was simple.  :feedme:    Split the mandatory chores of animals and supper....we're DONE!

I smile when I see those posts back where they belong!!!!!!  :happy0203:   .....now, within the next month, we've got to find hay.....delivered.   We won't be hauling and stacking our own this year.

MtRider  ......another good tip from y'all here....ask them to do the fence!  :grouphug:  YESSSSSSS!

Mon...went to library to get forms online from our health insurance...needed for payment/reimbursement

Tues...went to 'town' for appointment and I saw my folks..  Declared we ned to be able to stay home and rest...

Wed...2 church guys redid our driveway with a small tractor/blade/scoop.  :amen:  Then got call that my dad was in ER...overnite observation.  My mom doesn't drive their current big truck.  DH drove us in to town again...I stayed the nite with my mom.  He went back to our house.  Then came in to pick us up...go hospital..my dad out without finding out anything.  My dad drove to PO and then home.  We followed and ...got to mail completed health ins. forms at their P.O.  Then DH & I had to drop car at mechanic...and come home in my truck [getting gas].  :0327:

BUT lovely friend nearby [ L...who fell, hurt leg/knee] had already planned to make supper for us.  It was delivered to our driveway while I was doing chores.  Of all the days for that wo be planned....THAT was HIS perfect timing!  I was collapsing!  Mmmmmmmm....so good!

MtRider....God and His people are sustaining us...  :amen:

Please let us know how your dad is doing!  You just can't hardly get a break, can you?  Try and get some rest and I hope your mom can rest also!

Nothing much going on here.  I went to check on a dog for a friend (from a lady who raises them).  She is 85 and I had thought to see if she needed a little help.  I just can't do it.  Dogs in cages just break my heart.  I know it's not illegal or anything, but I can't be a part of it.  She didn't answer the door or return my call and I am just as glad.  I will give her number to the friend and let that be the end of that.

Other than that, not much going on except cooking dinners and cleaning and goats.  It's was sunny today and should be for a little bit going forward.

My dad is in upper 80's.  They haven't found much actually....broke.  I think it's just that all his systems are slowing down, becoming out of sync, and gettin' tired.  So he often doesn't feel well at all.  For his age, he's in very good shape and doesn't take many pills.  Just old and tired.  Uses a cane I gave him a lot now.  Even bought a cane to use in the house.  So far my mom doesn't need a cane.  At their ages, many folks have graduated to a walker or wheelchair.  But one day....not feeling well WILL be something serious.

DH and I rested today.... except feeding X2 and running over to pick up our car.  Only needed oil change and such.  DH is not up for doing that himself right now so mechanic did it.  [Imagine crawling under car to drain oil, etc........while dragging O2 hoses.

On the way home, I stopped by our neighbor...they are packing and closing up their summer house here, a month early.  They have to go back to TX because 'lake front property' now has a new meaning.  Fortunately for them, their house had only 2' of water.....and the lower level is mostly storage.  Living area on second floor was not damaged.  Still......they must return to an intact house...and a mess.  So she needed to get rid of some freezer foods and wanted me to stop by.  We talked for an hour and then said goodbye till next summer.

Thawed/heated some already prepared burritos, included in that package, for supper tonite.  God and my church are taking care of us.  Time and energy is what we're short on.  Money is available.

Couple people are gathering data for me about hay.....One of them mentioned those awful years when drought in TX wiped out the Colorado hay.....cuz Texas bought all of it.  What was left here was 4X the usual price and it took YEARS for the price to go back down.   So we're wondering if the TX hay crop was damaged by Harvey???  I know great lengths of TX were not hit by this storm....so maybe they won't need CO hay?  Hope that is the case.  Horses are happy eating in north pasture for now.

MtRider ......maybe we'll stay home tomorrow?
