Midnightmom
The Twelve Days of Christmas, also known as Twelvetide, is a festive Christian season celebrating the Nativity of Jesus. In most Western ecclesiastical traditions, "Christmas Day" is considered the "First Day of Christmas" and the Twelve Days are 25 December – 5 January, inclusive.[1] For many Christian denominations—for example, the Anglican Communion and Lutheran Church—the Twelve Days are identical to Christmastide,[2][3][4] but for others, e.g., the Roman Catholic Church, Christmastide lasts longer than the Twelve Days of Christmas.[5] https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twelve_Days_of_Christmas AND: What are the 12 days of Christmas? The 12 days of Christmas is the period that in Christian theology marks the span between the birth of Christ and the coming of the Magi, the three wise men. It begins on December 25 (Christmas) and runs through January 6 (the Epiphany, sometimes also called Three Kings' Day). The four weeks preceding Christmas are collectively known as Advent, which begins four Sundays before Christmas and ends on December 24. https://www.vox.com/2015/12/25/10661878/12-days-of-christmas-explained 1 Quote Link to comment
Mt_Rider
Cool. Some have put forth a possibility that the Magi/3 Wise Men might have come as late as a couple years after His birth. That has never been certain...nor particularly important in my opinion. However, it is clear that their stop to consult nasty King Whatshisname spawned a bloody search for this usurper babe. That caused Joseph/Mary to flee with Jesus to Egypt ahead of this event..."after being warned in a dream, Joseph..." Male children up to 2 yrs old were slaughtered - thus the possible 2 year time frame. {or....the nasty king was just making sure he'd gotten his prey} The rich gifts of the Magi provided financing for their trip and likely much of their stay while in exile.
