Its time to start the garden!!! I'm so excited. This will be my first real garden so I'm really excited. I've been reading and planning like crazy. I started my first garden last year but with the move and all I wasn't able to stay and keep it. I hope all goes well this year. I'll start planting tomorrow. I have to clean up the garden spot that hubby tilled this weekend.
Going in the ground: English peas, snap peas, snow peas, 2 varieties of onions, dill, 2 varieties of carrots, and 2 varie
The story of creation is a beautiful thing. One may think that they know all there is to this classic story of how woman was created but do you really?? Wouldn't it be truly grand to spend some time with Eve, over iced tea and swinging slightly on a garden swing and let her tell her story of how it was in the beginning.....
The story of creation is a wondrous event. God creates the Heavens and the earth and everything in them. And His creation is utterly, perfectly glorious! Sometimes we fo
Did you know that Popcorn is a Whole Grain and has lot of nutritional and healthy benefits?
I've always been a fan of Popcorn in its many varied forms. Whether it was dripping in butter at the Theater or in a box of Cracker Jacks at the ball game...formed into a PopCorn Ball at Halloween or caramelized with brown sugar... yum yum yum!
I have loved it when I wasn't counting calories and I have loved it when I was. On its own, it's nothing but good... our adding toppings are sometim
Beeeee Yourself!" says the genie to Aladdin as he woos his princess. "Just be yourself!" moms urge their kids as they head off to the new school, nervous about making new friends. "Don't worry, just be you!" My Dad used to say when I'd ask if I looked okay.
So it hit me the other day, that lately I don't feel like myself, what ever that means and I'm having trouble being something indefinable.
Just what does it mean to be yourself?

We started looking at places this weekend. I realized that we've been really spoiled when it comes to storage space and room space. I am gonna have to downsize bigtime and become a lot more efficient in how I store things.
I have about 150 empty canning jars of various sizes. The plan now is to start filling and vaccuum sealing them with grains, dry goods, etc..double storage. I emptied the drawer with pencils, pens, crayons, etc. They are emptied out of their boxes in ziploc bags in a flip
the latest poll shows about 40% Democrat, 26% unaffiliated 32%Republican.
Not all Democrats are against the 2nd ammendment, not all Republicans are for it. You pick a party that is closest to your viewpoint, or you are independent. If you think for yourself at all, how can any party match your views exactly?
A party is not a religion, you should not blindly and faithfully follow all its planks. At least, you shouldn't if
One of my goals for this blog is to let you have a peek at reservation life. My first visit here was in 1991. I came away a little shell shocked. I had heard stories and seen slides of third world countries all my life, but I was not prepared to see this on American soil. My heart went out to these wonderful people and after several visits, I moved here in 1994. At the time, I had only planned to be here for a year to teach Kindergarten. God had other plans. I met my husband. We married in 1997,

Years ago (in 1999), when I first joined MrsS, we had a forum called Extreme Realities, where we discussed self defense with all sorts of weapons (remember the reverse Z?). Some of you might remember Armorer leading that forum...
well, he taught me a lot, and inspired my husband and I to buy compound bows, which we learned how to use, and although they are not ideal weapons for self-defense, they are certainly better than nothing, and are definitely useful for hunting should the s**t hit t
C.S.Lewis is one of my favorite authors. He died the same year I was born, the same day that Pres. Kennedy was assassinated. He was a brilliant man who continues to impact the world through his writings. He penned such works as the Chronicles of Narnia which have recently gone to the Big Screen. His words have impacted me greatly over the years of my life so I thought I would share some of his more famous quotes with you this morning. Enjoy! And tell me which one you liked the best!
Hi. I'm Denise, but my friends call me Necie. I grew up and lived in SW Michigan for 35 years, but now live in NE Indiana. Big move, huh? I love the Mid-West and guess you could call me a country gal. Was raised farming and have my own little mini farm started.
I'm divorced. Was married for 15 yrs and have 3 wonderful kids: Jason (23), Tony (22) and Leah (20). Tony has a girlfriend-Jessie (20) whom I also totally adore (she wants to learn to garden and can and all that fun stuff). I've been
I posted this on the forum, but realized, it was really more appropriate here, in my blog.
Yesterday marked my eight month anniversary since I quit smoking. I was a pack and a half a day smoker, for 22 years. Medically, that means I smoked for "33 years".
The day I quit was my son's graduation day. I almost died that day. I was very, very sick. I realized I had no right to take my children's mother away. So I threw away my cigarettes and have never looked back.
I joined a website
I'm enjoying the Personal Blogs option of our new home. I've been doing some investigating, can't resist those shiny new buttons.. and thought I'd share a few tips with my Blogging Buddies.
At the top of the page you will see two 'buttons' concerning 'blogs'. One says 'my blog' and takes you to your own created blog where you can make an entry to your own blog, create your own blog and set blog controls.
The other button simply says 'blogs' and it will take you to a page where yo
very interesting. The question is, do Conservatives really think like this? They sure managed to get every progressive stance wrong - and in the ususual sneering way I've learned to detest from conservatives. I wonder if I can find the same sort of article from the other viewpoint?
this is close, the sneering is no more attractive the other way...
patriotism progressive style:
Social conservatism is a political or moral ideology that believes the government has a role in encouraging or enforcing traditional values or behaviors based on the belief that these are what keep people civilized and decent. A second meaning of the term social conservativism has developed in the Nordic countries and continental Europe. Here it refers to liberal conservatives supporting modern European welfare states. Social conservatism is distinct from cultural conservatism which focuses on c
What's most outrageous is to witness the GOP suddenly gain renewed religion when it comes to fiscal prudence. From 2000-2007, the GOP controlled government spent our money like there was no tomorrow, as shown in this graph:
Notice the two rising red lines. The deficit as a % of GDP has risen under Reagan, Bush I and Bush II.
It's hard to imagine Republicans becoming any more of a joke.
Obviously Republicans ar

If You Could See Me Now
Our prayers have all been answered. I finally arrived.
The healing that had been delayed has now been realized.
No one's in a hurry. There's no schedule to keep.
We're all enjoying Jesus, just sitting at His feet.
Cho: If you could see me now, I'm walking streets of gold.
If you could see me now, I'm standing strong and whole.

As a young woman (especially in my 20's and 30's) I like the women around me, got busy with the business of life. I worked hard and tried harder. I slept less, aimed higher, and failed more. Even being involved heavily in church kept me tremendously busy, not really going no wherebut continually asked to do more. Be more. Be better. Follow these 7 steps, these 6 lifestyles, these 12 concepts. But in all my trying, I could not feel I was growing as a woman. I just felt tired.
I know that I
for those wanting to make an apron/bonnet this is the pattern I have...
Vintage Apron Bonnet Pattern
Vintage Apron Bonnet PatternEarlier this week I promised a unique vintage apron pattern and here it is. It’s from Women’s Household Magazine, July 1968–nearly 40 years old! It’s something I haven’t come across before.
It’s an apron with two pockets. Or you can use it as a clothespin holder. Or you can button it up int
Dh asked if I wanted to go check out the shooting range that's about 40 minutes away (heck yeah! I've only been trying to get him to go for the past few months!) Two years ago dh was very much against having any kind of gun in the house. After two years of listening to me go on about what I've learned here and looking at what's going on in our world...well, his views have changed. So off we go...
The place was packed... We got information on classes they hold each month ($125 per person for a
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.
There it is. Why we need to have the seperation of church and state explained perfectly.
Inside every cynical person, there is a disappointed idealist.
That would be me. I am disappointed and disillusioned by the Republican party. It is not the party o
