I know birds aren't peoples favorite topic right now, but as a poultry raiser... if you have stuff like manwich that you're throwing out and you know folks with chickens, guineas, etc... they'll eat ANYTHING. I'd take it! Our chickens love chili, spaghetti, hotdogs. It's remarkable.

And... my eggs just taste like eggs

DID YOU KNOW

that if you have hard water you can run 1 Cup of CLR or Lime Away through your washing machine and dishwasher quite safely to remove deposits? Just dump 1 C in the machines and run through a normal cycle. I usually fill my washer with some water first because it has one of those mondo-huge tubs. This will help flush deposits from the drain lines as well. Quarterly would be nice.

Okay... DID YOU KNOW...

that you can clean your drains quiet naturally and inexpensively by using a galvanized bucket to boil water in. To a gallon of water that has been boiled and removed from the stove, add 1 C Arm and Hammer WASHING Soda, not baking soda. Dump down drain, repeat with next drain. Do not use your good kitchen pots with this or they will turn white from the washing soda after a few uses.

Way cheaper than drain cleaner, and done monthly will wipe out grease, hairs, hard water deposits.

I'll tell you, this year I got a canvas tool bag. It looks like a canvas version of those old fashioned doctor's bags... after years of banging around with tool boxes and belts I just love it. It has lots of hidden nooks and crannies to hold things and water repellant. I got mine at a local lumberyard, but it looks pretty much like this one.

TAPE in my house, which would it be?

Without a doubt, duct tape. This is a strong, fabric based, multi-purpose, adhesive tape that is normally silver. It was originally developed during WWII as "Duck Tape" and was designed to be a waterproof sealing tape for ammunition casings. We started call it "duct tape" because after the war homeowners started using it on heating and air conditioning ducts. When you buy duct tape, make sure when you tear a piece off you can see the fibers in it – if you don’t see fibers on the torn edge the quality is suspect. I recently fell in love with Gorilla Glue’s Gorilla Tape. WOW.

I have used it to:

Wrap presents.

Fix fences

Emergency furniture repair

Seal a broken piece of glass

Post signs.

Repair split book jackets and bindings.

Fix broken tail light, fan belt and hoses on vehicle.

Twist a long piece into rope, but that’s a bit tricky.

Tape wires back together after splicing in an emergency and I didn’t have electrical tape Patch ripped clothing.

Attach leg splint to broken leg, be the splint for broken fingers or toes (or used to tape broken digit to adjoining digit)

Reinforce pages in 3 ring binder.

Hold up exhaust pipe

Can be use to wrap duct work, but doesn't seal or hold up ducts very well.

Reflective lettering.

Put up Christmas lights

Fix vacuum cleaner hose, in fact, the same tape’s been on there for 9 years!

Hold car door, hood or trunk lid closed

Replace those plastic do-hickeys on the end of my shoe laces

Remove lint from clothes.

Tape plastic over broken windows or over good windows in winter..

Tape my storage containers together to keep critters and moisture out.

Great hand cuff material in a pinch.

No chads here! Mother, I can't vote just yet, but I am confident that there are many who have done there reading who can... who were just "confused" but the "confusing" title of this post!

Are you one of those folks who smashes their fingers when using a hammer? Try a pair of needlenose pliers to hold your nail. Get a cheap pair ($1.88 at wally-world) so you can bang away - a tip... Place the pliers flush with the wall and hold the nail, it will be so far into the wall when you are ready to pull the pliers away that you will not need any support to finish driving the nail in!

Yup, I DO wear steel toed boots. And dispite all the urban legends about them cutting off toes, it hasn't happened to me yet! This is in part because I just plumb cannot lift enough to crush that steel. I DO regularly drop boards, bricks, pipe wrenches and hammers on the floor and sometimes they land on my tootsies. I used to have many breaks, bruises and bashes.

Safety glasses , we'll wait on that. Let's get the basics now...

DID YOU KNOW... that if your dryer is vented to the outside through more than 6 feet of duct work you should run your dryer EMPTY for 15 minutes each week? This will allow any damp-ish lint in the ductwork itself to dry, thus blow out... your dryer will be efficient and you won't have a risk of it shorting out or overheating due to a clogged vent!

excuse me for jumping in here... I looked at the outline on the sticky post and if that is the one you're asking for review of, I would like to see (for lack of a better term) Generational Lists. We moved my father to Kansas 1 1/2 years ago and having a frail/elderly member in our household made a huge difference in my emergency stock. I have a friend with twin babies who also had to make a moderate big adjustment for infants. Thanks!
