  1. ........................... and THAT is why we LOVE our 2 cats!

our 'kids' named Tobie and Maggie - 2 very spoiled girls who warm our hearts whenevery we come home and they greet us by the front door!

only to find out it is just us and we didn't bring them home any treats or new toys - so off they go back to 'whatever' they were doing before?

  2. So I am going to plant strawberries and herbs in the pallets. I can't wait!

You do know that Strawberries ALWAYS taste better when grown in 'free' raised beds! LOL

  3. we too are living that life style.

I can't tell you how many people tell us "How much we had to give up to live like that!"

    Yes we gave up debt , credit cards, TV , buying things we don't need, cell phones, etc. . . . . .. . . . .

    I Love the Simple Life!

instead of watch TV or Video Games or talkinf on cell phones over the weekend we went for nature hikes, visited Amish Friends, read books together and even had supper outside by the firepit (60+ out that day).

and the best part was nobody could call us (no cell phones) when we were hiking. And we were just about the only ones on trail so it was so quite we could hear all the birds greating the day.

Didn't have to go shopping and hear all the 'noise' of people talking load on cellphones with stuff that I would not even tell my Mother! and hearing all the crap about how prices are going up and up BUT there they were buy it all and on credit! So for most it will cost even more when they pay the interest on what they got?

    Have a nice day............................................

  4. The sun is shining bright today and seeing you are feeling a bit blue you decide to not clean the house but instead go outside and enjoy the sunshine
so there you are out taking a nature hike when you come across a field of clover.
You decide to stop, rest and see if you are lucky enough to find a four leaf clover for Luck.
Behold, there it is right by your hand, a four leaf clover!
Luck will be yours today, and so you very carefully put it into your pocket to take home after your hike.
When you arrive at home you reach into your pocket to get your lucky four leaf clover only to find it is folded over and looks like a two leaf clover?
Thinking fast you grab the iron that you forgot to put away and set it on low and iron your lucky four leaf clover flat.
In seconds it has become a dried out, burnt mass of brown unrecognizable bit stuck to the bottom of the iron! You are heartbroken.
Your luck has ended before it even had a chance to begin to make you happy!

AND that is why Dear Friend’s we always say: ……………….

When things are going good for you-
    NEVER press your Luck!

  5. ...........don't has any wind for your seedlings?

every day we go and 'pet' ours!

Just run your hand back and forth over their tops ( as you talk to them !)

it does the same as a breeze would BUT this way you get a close up look at how things are going!

need more water, some are dieing, bugs are eating some leaves, etc.

  6. What’s for Supper . . . . . JUST a Simple Salad?

Well we were running late so picked up a Caesar Salad kits while shopping with Amish Friends to have when we got home for Supper, you know the kind lots of lettuce with packets of chees, croutons and Caesar salad mix in the bag as well, we got it on sale for 99 cent.

So we get home and are bet but mix up the Simple Salad to eat but we did add a few things to make it a meal:
Had a tomato left over from making B,L,T’s the night before-
Peppers and onions I had cut up for stir-fry-
Some of my ‘fresh’ mushrooms I use for breakfast-
part of a carrot chopped up and added-
then Lori added a mozzarella cheese stick chopped up-
Half a can of chick peas Michael found in the refrigerator-
    some Bacon bits-
Michael remembered his snack bag of sunflowers seeds so we added them too-
and then we said what the heck and shredded up a lemon pepper chicken strip I was going to make a snack chicken sandwich with later on-
To finish it off we added chives and Italian seasonings
And added some more oil and vinegar to make the Caesar dressing go further.

So our “Simple Salad” became a bit more by adding 11 more items we just happen to have on hand plus spices, oil and vinegar!

    Now THAT’S a meal! LOL

  7. funny as I just got that one yesterday (free?) but haven't read it yet?

Sunday we are "camping out" in backyard as it is going to be so nice again (today hit 67 and lots of sun).

Now "camping " is setting up the flea market canapy (10 x 10) with the sides down and inside we set up the camp seats, camp table and camp stove. then spend the day reading, playing games and just being 'out there' for the day - come back in at night to sleep in 'real bed'.

Also we are going for a hike on trails in woods nearby as part of our day as well as going 'shopping' at 5 am to town to but fresh baggles and donuts (apple fretters) to bring back to eat around the outdoor firepit ( on the side patio).

    OK, back to books.................................

  8. what is it?........................

enough scrap metal to buy food for a week!

Does look like some kind of blower for grain?

haven't seen one like that before but the small round part on the right is the 'fan' and the shaft on the left would be were a drive belt would go to turn the fan. the part ('y') on the ground would go on top of the pipe sticking out of the top to 'deliever' the grain/feed. the 'Y' lets you get 1 sack onto the pipe while the other one fills and there is a bar you move back and forth so one side fills up and then the other?

Is it sitting upside down maybe?

  9. OK, so I had to change the title because :

"Ben has a little lamb" just didn't fit ? LOL

Anyway YES a little orphan lamb DID go to the Library so Lori could bottle feed it!

And now the rest of the story............................

Ben's (Amish) Family Farms where we help out at is very busy at this time of the year-

The 'men' and Michael have the sugar house up and running making Maple Syrup 24/7 (cold nights /warm days)

And also they are in the middle of Lambing Season with over 125 baby lambs this week alone! There are about 8 'orphans' where the mother has died in having them or just will not let them suck(?) and those we have to bottle feed for now. Lori has been helping with that part but had to go to work early at the Library on Thursday and missed out on feeding time, and she was pouting about it.

So I got our cats harness and took one to the Library as a surprise for her to feed.

I ran in, gave her a bottle, then went back out to van and walked in with lamb on leash.

Now I have to tell you that I didn't know how that would go but that baby lamb LOVED be on a leash and just walked all over like she owned the place! And as you know everyone in there wanted to pet her. Everyone gathered around as Lori let it drink from the bottle and all you could hear were oohs and ahhhs as all this was going on. Every time someone came in the day it was "what’s going on?" as they saw the growing crowd, then THEY wanted to 'feel the wool' with their kids.

When I left I told Lori that I had wipes and a blanket if needed but 'baby lamb' did great!
Also turned out after the first few bleats baby lamb likes to ride in box on front seat of the van?

When I got back to the Amish Farm I carried her in so the kids there could see how well she was on the leash, and say how good she was (and no poop or peep left at the Library) as soon as I put her down she pees on the wood Kitchen Floor! I thanked her for waiting........................

Now I also should say that being this is a 'country Library' and the Boss's cat (they live next door) always comes to visit 'mom' on long work days , people are always bringing in dogs, cats and even a duck to 'visit' and show off but this was the first Lamb to stop by!

  10. Survivalist by Circumstance - Volume One is the book and there are a few with same title but differant volumes?

    This one is now $ .99 ?

wish I could find more like "2012" now THAT was a great book!

all about how they left home after %^$%#!&^% and moved out to a farm that had burned down (along with everything else) but they find a root cellar and make things work for them.

    A real page turner!!!!!!!!!!!!
got it one day from Pam's Page but never did find where it was listed?

  11. OK this IS funny but our Amish Friend (16 yrs. old boy) has one but with a scooter! remember in the old days when you had one that had 2 wheels and you put one foot on it and pushed with the other foot? He added a blade on the the front and it works! I may put one on mine...................

  12. 1. Go to Amazon.

    2. On the left-hand column, select Kindle.

    3. When the heading expands with a menu, select Kindle Books.

    4. Look under the big heading Kindle eBooks. There are a series of titles. Select Best Sellers.

    5. When it shows you Top 100 Paid, you will see next to that heading an unselected Top 100 Free. Select Top 100 Free.

    6. Look at the left-hand column. Select "nonfiction" if you like or just click on the first interesting heading. After you down load all the books under that heading, back up to this page and pick the next interesting heading. Or just start with Advice And How-To and go down the list.

= = = Here is a good tip for anyone doing this:

AFTER you do step 5 on the list SAVE IT in your favorites somewhere you can find it!

Saves having to go though all the steps each time you want to download free books.

ask me how I know............................. :AmishMichael2:

  13. Posted on the edge how I've been able to download some outside of her blog. You can also do it from your kindle I think.

well 'tried' to go there and I thought I had the key to get in the door but nope?

    locked out!

so I guess maybe post it someplace that we all can read it................

    please
