  1. I am continuing to sort through my belongs and pack up the things that I need to keep. I am giving away/donating a lot of things as well as pitching a lot of things. We move next weekend so I am working on the kitchen the next couple of days. I have my paper plates and bowls and my plasticware set aside and everything else is getting packed up. If the food can't be microwaved this week, I won't be eating. I also have sandwich stuff. I'm trying to keep it simple. I have a large cabinet in my kitchen that is getting moved as well. My focus is getting it completely cleaned off, dusted
  2. Snowmom, I'm glad to hear that the pacemaker checkup went well. I'm glad that yours should last a long time. I am assuming that it would require another surgery to replace it when it gets ready to go out. Oh, and I love the little Chihuahua's in your post. I have four of the adorable little guys. I haven't been around that much either. So much to move and to pack. Anyone wanna help me move???? I'm so glad that I am a prepper (until it comes time to move it all). I'll be very glad to see my husband come home early this week. It's about time he get in on some of this packing and moving.
  3. Hello everyone. I am so glad that you and your family are all safe and sound, Twilap. Sounds like you all have done some wonderful training. Hey there Unike1, it's good to see you. Hi there Arby. I have been packing boxes most all day. My mom came down again to help me out. I seem to get a lot more done when she is here. I can't wait to get this move over with. I really hate packing boxes. I guess it will be over soon enough. We have had rain here off and on for the last 24 hours. I'm a bit tired of rain now. The sun needs to come out for a while. Maybe it will show up tomorrow
  4. I must say that you all are inspiring to me. I just love reading this thread. I am in the process of packing up years of accumulated stuff. As well as preps. (I can't believe how many preps we have.) We are moving in two weeks! I have been focusing on getting the house packed up but today, my mom and I hit the storage shed. We went through about 8 large boxes of canning jars and washed the worst of them. We had to repack them in better boxes so that they wouldn't break during the move. I can't believe the amount of things that I have given away or thrown away in the last four
  5. It has been a very long weekend and I'm pooped. My mom was here on Friday. We worked on packing more boxes and she helped me clean out and defrost both freezers. Now that was a job! Yesterday, I ended up taking a road trip to deliver the last dog that I needed to find a home for. I can't take any of the big farm dogs with me, no farm for them anymore. And today, my mom suprised me by coming down again today. She helped me clean a bunch of really nasty canning jars that I had picked up a while back on the cheap. We cleaned them and repacked them so they would travel easier. What a job!
  6. My husband is a long haul OTR trucker and he's also a trainer for the company he drives for. They used to haul a lot of car parts but since so many plants closed, they haul a lot of different things now. It was rough there for a while but things have finally picked back up in the last two months.
  7. Where has the month gone? I just can't believe how fast this summer is moving along. What are you all up to today? I have given the dog a bath and got her half clipped before we both wanted a break. I have been packing boxes like a crazy woman. We are supposed to rent a U-Haul at the end of the month to move all the big things. I have to go through the two freezers and throw away anything that isn't any good. I am giving some frozen things to a friend of mine so I won't have as much to move. We have a big chest freezer that is full and a smaller upright freezer that is p
  8. Hello everyone. Long time no see! Things have been crazy around here. We are moving so that I can be closer to my mom. Her health is going downhill and she needs me to be there for her. I guess we are going to be moving in to her spare room for now but we'll be looking for a house near her. So I have been packing and tossing and putting things into the yard sale box. Oh, yes, the yard sale... it is tomorrow. I am so ready for this weekend to be over. Too much to do. I think we are moving when my husband gets in off the road in another two weeks. Things are so up in the air right now.
  9. Hello everyone. It's been a while since I've been on here. It seems like forever but I guess it's only been a few days. I went to the farmer's market this morning and bought another New Zealand rabbit doe. Now I have a trio of NZ's and a trio of Flemish Giants. I'm all set for meat rabbits. Oh and I have a litter of baby bunnies. They are about a week old. While I was at the farmer's market I bought two Rose of Sharon bushes. I have no idea where I'll plant them but I have missed having them since we moved. I hope you all have a great weekend.
  10. With my job loss at the beginning of the year, I began to look for ways to save or make money. Couponing was one of those ways. I love doing it. It makes me feel like I have a bit more control over the grocery budget. I appreciate those of you who are sharing your tips and your websites. I am still learning so I don't have a lot to share. I do knowt that I have saved lots of money in the last 5 months using my coupons.
  11. Good evening everyone. I guess everyone was too busy to post on here today. Snowmom, I didn't want you to feel like you were talking to yourself. I have been very busy the last several days. My hubby was home for almost a week so we were getting lots of projects done around here. We accomplished a lot. I spent today trying to get back in the mode of things. I ran some errands and I went to the gym. Then I came home and tried to straighten up the house some. I hope you all had a great day. Catch you later on.
  12. You are welcome! Sometimes I have to laugh at all this mess, otherwise I just want to cry. I feel so much better now that we have the shelves. I have been getting things dated and put away. It's even more difficult because we live in a mobile home. The storage space in these things are pretty much non-existant. I do what I can with what I have. I'm so glad we have somewhere like Mrs. S to come to and share ideas. I've been prepping for a long time but I never fail to learn something when I stop by here. Thank you all for contributing.
  13. I picked up 100 pounds of sugar yesterday and will probably pick up another 100 pounds in a day or two. I got this for 50 cents a pound. What is the price on sugar per pound in your areas?
  14. I went shopping today and added some things to my pantry. 100 lbs of sugar (this was my big prep) I may go back and get another 100 lbs in a day or two several jars of spaghetti sauce several cans of mushrooms 1 case of canned corn 1 case of canned peas 4 boxes of dry milk 6 cans of evaporated milk 10 lbs of flour several bags of beef jerky that will go into the BOB's (hopefully I won't eat all of it first) I'm sure there is more but that's all I can remember. I still need to get it all dated and put away. I need to figure out what I'm going to do with the sugar. I'm
  15. I am not sure if the Lye in the goats milk soap would be considered biodegradable or not. That would be the only questionable ingredient in it. I will be saying prayers about this shoe/boot issue. I'm sure it will all work out.
