  1. Well, if you were going to have an accident, that would be the day to do it. Momma always said, make sure you have clean underwear on......you might be in an accident!!!!!Bahhaaaahh!!!
  2. Bear is a cocker spaniel cross, (with what we don't know) We were told he is five years old, however everyone thinks he is a puppy waiting to grow into his huge feet. I think he carries some kind of hound because he has a big deep bark, and is a howling sensation. He was pretty vocal but is getting much better. It is a good thing we live on a farm. We have two little poodles in the house with him. They are usually only alone on really hot days when they can't come in the vehicle, and on some school days for about two hours, morning and mid afternoon, while I'm driving bus. They all have seat belts, and don't like to miss out on "coming with". We laugh because they know which vehicle we tell them we're taking. That's when it can get pretty noisy........... My brag book has doggie pictures in it.
  3. Nope not over the TV, but perhaps from your concerns, sutle changes in your body chemistry, tone of voice etc. Wonderful dog. Our new little rescue guy has gone from wailing, when we leave the house, to poppin up in the window to watch when we come and go. He makes us laugh every day.
  4. One of our cards had a 19 cent charge on it that was caught by the credit card co. Someone will put a small charge through - if it works and isn't caught they will hit you with the big one later on. The second time we had a scare, one of cc my purchases was denied because the card had been compromised. A near by city had had a run with credit/debit card identity theft. I think some one was picking the numbers from the debit machines at a few different stores. We met a young lady that had been in that city for a hockey game, and had her bank account cleaned out overnight. We're in Canada - the withdrawals were made from Boston.
  5. WhooHoo! New people always bring fresh new ideas, and remind us too, of the things we may have forgotten. Welcome Melodie!
  6. I bought bananas today, (for the dehydrator), and THEN my bil tells me that our local Co-op store threw a whole case of them out because the skins were dark - insides were fine!!!!!!!!!!! AGGGGHHHHH such a waste.
  7. Nine trays of bananas in tonight. Last night I did zuchinni chips, they are a "maybe" for doing any more. Some had lemon dill seasoning, and the others were seasoned with a no salt mixture of some kind. I prefer the later, I think. The bananas were $2.00 per bag perfectly ready for the dehydrator. We freeze a lot of them too for smoothies.
  8. What a wonderful day you will have (with lots of stories to share). I am looking forward to pictures. Congratulations!
  9. UHHHH.... I meant, NICE Queen, we honour your opinion/facts. Although that might fit when Violet hears about "car canning" and such things.
  10. OH, VIOLET..........where are you? (Why isn't there one with a crown, for Queen)? Will "new" potatoes be too starchy for dehydrating?
  11. Deerslayer, I just bought a 9 tray Excalibur, and have done some frozen vegetables. I really want to do my potatoes. Questions: Do you follow the directions from the website Dehydrate to Store? Can I do my new potatoes from the garden, or will they be too starchy?
  12. Hold on to the Peace that SURPASSES ALL Understanding. Your Grandma surely is loved.
  13. I can't speak for the meds, but do use a hot wax when my hands are really painful. My wax pot came from Walmart, on the after Christmas sales, (also a great time to buy the wax) and was not costly. You dip your hands in the warm wax, put on the mittens that come with the pot, and relax. It is just so soothing. The plus is that your hands are silky soft after too.
  14. Mt Rider: I thought I knew the acronyms, but apparently not. What is a SAK? and doesn't a pig roast sound yummy?
  15. Yes stranage alright. Not a garden crop, but rather, a grain called Kumut. We'd had hail damage but the heads seemed to be forming nicely. Dh went out to cut it last Friday and found he had nothing. The heads didn't fill at all. They didn't even finish swathing, hoping rather to cut and market it as organic feed straw. We had two wet years so the weeds are taking over in our fields (we farm organically) Some areas here are too wet, others too dry, but in both cases unusually so. It seems it will be an early fall/winter. I have never seen the black birds flock in such numbers, or this soon. The Bald Eagle who migates past us every spring and fall has come back south already.
  16. My uncle had a dog that would dig up the carrots and our dog would eat raspberries right off the stalk. It was mostly peas for the kids.
  17. I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS!!!!!!! I just spoke to Darlene about the Fall gathering. Don't laugh - but the key word is FALL (as in autum). I didn't even know that October is high season for the tourist industry there, and how the heck did I not realize we were going to the mountains? (Probably, because we don't associate farm with mountain.) I feel silly, but will get over it and take any ribbing due. I told Darlene we would be the two standing around with our mouths agape at all the differences between here and there. Google is my friend, off to look at maps, hotels, attractions, history, geography....... Now how do you "Fly" prepared? There are so many things not allowed on the airlines.
  18. WaaaaaH!!!!!! I want a big puppy too.........Could I trade dh for one? Thats the only way I'd ever get another dog.
  19. So disappointing! I remember the first year I planted a garden on the farm. It didn't look that big (realtive to the summerfallow field it was planted in) but it did produce and I couldn't keep up. Other years we would have nothing more growing than weeds. We have only onions and potatoes in this year and they have both done well. On Thusday, we traveled to look at a new combine for dh and the people we visited have had so much rain that every thing is drowned out, or rotting in the ground.
  20. I am relaxing on the forum for a bit. I need to get our books caught up too, as our year end is fast approaching. One bill entered counts as a start for me today. My mind is sifting over the excitement of going to the gathering. The roof is being replaced on the church that we attend so I made a cake to send along with dh when he went to help with that work. I have dishes, and a couple of loads of laundry done and the roomba is vacuming. I like that! The floors need mopping and we are to go into the city for my dog obedience class later this evening. I laughed when I signed up for that. The sign outside the shop said, "Training at both ends of the Leash". We have a new rescue dog, a cocker spaniel cross, and have been very fortunate with him. He is really good, doesn't even take notice of the cats, but does have separation anxiety, and howls if he is left alone. That may be not so bad on the farm but we don't want him doing that when we leave him alone in the camper trailer. He seems to have taken a liking to dh and dh to him, although dh didn't want any more bleep bleep dogs...... I need to finalize our plans for Atlanta, and then get more caught up this week as we are helping our sister-in-law move on the week end. Dh will be full into getting ready for harvest after that. I always say that when the summer exhibition has been and gone it is winter. The fair ended yesterday!
  21. YAHOO!!!!! We have booked a flight to Atlanta. DH is coming, so please add two more to the head count.
  22. Darlene how many men are coming? DH would like to come but is afraid it will be all women, and he will sit around feeling silly. My question is how could any man feel silly surrounded by all of us beauatiful women?
  23. Whoooo Hoooo! It freezes just fine too.............
  24. Stephanie, I'm just curious, have you asked each child for a list of their favorite meals? You may find that the mundane ones ARE their favorites. Of course that could be because you make them into Magnificent.
