  1. Ouch! Do take care of yourself. That can't be fun.
  2. I do believe we will be taking another route back. Your snow isn't any more fun than ours is. We don't usually get rain in December and such slick roads but we left home in the rain . A short stint from Colorado Springs to the pass????was the only other tough driving we had. Dh had to do the whole route, as I had pulled a muscle just before we left home and couldn't manage to help with the driving
  3. Mt Rider, hope you are feeling better soon. We drove south though CO and I kept guessing which mountain you might live on. It is beautiful here, but I also kept thinking of your "bad guy" scenario and couldn't even begin to imagine what we might do to survive such "different from our own" territory. Some people here in Az have been complaining of feeling ill but we're armed with our essential oils and I have been far more physically active outdoors than ever at home this time of year. Determined to stay well while we are here. Dh went to a gun show today and wondered if GP would be there with a booth. My brother rushed him along, sweetie would have liked to stay much longer. He even mentioned taking me back to it!
  4. I love the kitty kisses! I hope the pup is calmer than he looks with those "camera coloured green eyes".
  5. Hang on! A New Year is coming. I would be drinking some wine without a prescription.....just a teeny bit lol. I surely hope your family is on the way to a better season in your lives. This too shall pass.
  6. We will be traveling to Az. this year,so things have been busy here. Gifts for our family are ready to be mailed and delivered. We were out from Thursday last through Sunday at Christmas related functions (all with meals included and we had even declined two more events on those days). There will just be the school Christmas concert to attend before we leave. My efforts have been entered around getting our books done up for the accountant. Dh wants to know how much we need to pay on the business side of things. Then of course there are personal taxes too. Travel arrangements ie care for pets, extra food stocked for them, adequate housing for them during our absence, insurance needs, updating our emergency travel boxes, updating our wills, truck maintenance, arranging bill payments, making endless lists, packing to be done, more Christmas related visiting to be done, yada yada yada........ We had our photos done this year, so some are going in cards that I haven't bothered to send out in the past. Our Grands don't see us often so the photos were really for them. There isn't any decorating happening except for the mess of cards and wrapping I haven't cleaned up yet. We won't be getting gifts either, our trip is it. We are on the down side of the hill as far as the work involved. I just really want the house tidied up, after this last bit of neglect. Looking forward to more Christmas carols IN A CHURCH, and not the stores. We did made our regular donation to the Humane Society. I always like giving that gift the best.

    Roll call...

A little maple syrup would taste pretty good with that warm Johnny cake. I'll bring a few bottles of that too.

    Roll call...

Well now; did I miss the chocolates? It doesn't matter, I'm bringing a box car full. No one will miss what I may have nibbled on before my arrival. Wormie, move over.......
  9. Try to think of her not having to deal with this cold winter. It always so hard to have fur family leave. Warm hugs!
  10. Check out the once a month cooking sites. 30 Day Gorm.. (Dang I can't spell it tonight). Dogs are on my lap so I don't want to move to look it up. Sorry. Those recipes are marked out for multiple or individual sized servings.
  11. BBQ Pork ribs with potatoes and creamed corn was fine fare for supper tonight. Dh cooked and he shared a chocolate bar with me for dessert. He tried to trick me by holding the two pieces upright and at different heights in one hand, asking me which one I would like. I chose the apparently shorter of the two, knowing full well it was not! We had a good laugh and I did eat the bigger piece on him. We have a beef roast thawing for tomorrow. It is pot luck at church so I may get up early and put it on for that dh thinks I should make an Angel Food Cake
  12. Ah yes I remember the Absorbine Liniment well, my dad used it quite a lot. Dh's family and he used what they called "Red". I don't know if it is the same thing or not though. I always want a more pleasant smell to my stuff. Dh even used to take a swig of the Red liniment when he was feeling poorly. I never thought it to be a good idea.
  13. I feel cranky! My nephew flew to NY, to meet, in person, someone he had met on the internet. NY really? Is your friend a nurse, doctor, health care worker? People think we're crazy (we who prep that is). I think it may be others who are mixed up! The silly goose has his children living with him since his wife left, just in the spring. What would make him think he should have a lady friend at all, this quickly, and why fly away from your family to find her. I don't want to go anywhere, but locally, and safely, until the world gets this Ebola threat under control and I am just saddened about children being pulled into any possible drama or unnecessary risk Lord please grant me Serenity!
  14. Sass - you might also like to peek into Pinterest under Essential Oils. You will find all kinds of combinations of oils to mix as anti inflammatory aid. You may use the oils by themselves in some cases but for your use you might wish to invest in a carrier oil like almond or coconut oil. The coconut oil is so useful in many other applications as well. Let us know if you find more interesting /useful prep/everyday ideas along this line. I personally, love my oils, and when dh benefits so much from their use my prep money is going first into purchasing more of them, then learning about the herbs and growing/dehydrating same for my prep pantry.
  15. Thank you. My sister is at home now,but she has an early morning shift tomorrow. BIL says no one will go near her - THEY will be afraid!!! It seems that the US identified the gunman and had been discussing same with our National Security prior to this incident. We all want to know more.
  16. A terrorist ran down military personnel in Quebec last night. This morning gunmen are at out govt. building in the capital. One has been killed, and a search is on for others. My sister is in lockdown at her place of employment. She is a security guard at a military base. I ask for Prayer please for our family and our Country.
  17. Hello friend! You will like it here, just jump in.
  18. I haven't heard or read a report, but dh says that there is a case of Ebola one province to the west of us. He heard a news cast on the radio, yesterday afternoon, saying that the patient is in hospital in Edmonton! That is too close for my comfort! Has anyone else heard reports of this illness in Canada?
  19. I love my essential oils. When I first introduced them to dh he scoffed. Not anymore! Now he wears a "pixie glass" necklace (it holds essential oil), and he asks me "where is that stuff you used" so he can put oils in his c-pap machine or use as otherwise recommended.
  20. I share my house with the cats. For awhile they were leaving me gifts on the front steps every day. Dh wants the cats to go but I don't want the mice to come (or stay).
  21. Whaaaaa......isn't anyone putting holes in little squares on paper yet? I wanted to come do that again! And the food in Darlene's huge cooking pots! I am quite sure the aroma of that has been taunting me all day. I can smell puppy breath every time you mention them too. Did MomM and dh get a real bed or are they still in the closet? Fresh cheese? Thanksgiving supper early? Madison hanging out with new friends? Is there time to make pecan pie? (Or just soap) Granny? Stefanie and company? Good music? Hair cuts? Recipes to share. Who ate the hot peppers? Somebody needs to tell us more.....you surely don't want us all crying about missing out on all the fun. I even had to have a little shopping therapy to keep me occupied today or my eyeballs would have popped out from checking the forum every five minutes! Please post more, we're dying here.
  22. Mix a regular cake mix with an Angel food cake mix. (Dry mix) Then put 3 TBSPS mix in a mug Add 2 TBSPS water, stir, microwave on high for 1 one minute I used cherry chip cake mix. Dh can now help himself to a little sweet snack, and I hope not to be as temped with this dessert in the house. A whole cake is too much for us and this stores well for those little emergencies! It must be the egg in the angel food mix that makes it work so well. In any case it is fast and tasty too. Enjoy!
  23. One hill of potatoes! We're feeling pretty fine about this year's crop. Also the last feed of garden lettuce.
