  1. Kids were sick here the first week of school. It hasn't caught up to my bus kids yet. I'm hoping it doesn't and is "just a flu".
  2. I would need a wind break and something to keep the cats down and away. It is a little easier having the dogs not being on my deck
  3. Wormie is a pretty good distraction, and when it is time for his bi-annual hair cut, you know he is slipperier than any piggy.
  4. Lasagna, smells so good, used up stuff in the fridge, and cupboards, enough so that I even reorganized and cleaned a bit. Caught up with laundry, did some vacuuming, and pulled a few weeds. (It is raining so they are easier to pull, but it gets chilly out there.)
  5. MtRider, are you going to the gathering this time? Flight prices have dropped for me, but so has our income. I would love to go again, and if I do, dh stays home to save on costs.
  6. Hang on Katz, this too shall pass. Just keep checking in and chatting when you can. Hugs
  7. Mustard bean pickles for canning, eight lbs of strawberries drying and six more lbs of blueberries in the freezer ( green beans too). After the beans are finished I have a tray of ground beef to make ahead into something. Haven't done much in awhile.
  8. Is anyone avoiding food purchases that were made in Africa? We bought some flavoured olive oils, but I feel apprehensive. Yesterday I paid more for oranges at costco because the other choice came from Africa. Ebola oranges anyone?
  9. I discontinued our "Fusion" internet service and just hot spot the cell phone. It saves us $84.00 per month. Now if I could talk dh out of satellite TV we could save even more.
  10. Nice! Sparkly clean and gas! Is there some canning coming on to mess it up a little?
  11. It is going to be busy with beans, both yellow and green, this week. We ate some for supper put a few in the freezer and picked the first cucumbers and tomatoes last night. There are a gazillion summer/spaghetti squash on vine. I'll need to find out the best way to use and or preserve them.
  12. Grand success! She is a sweetie!
  13. That griddle is so much more valuable than the asking price. You WinTwice!! Oh,and we don't want to smell smoke first. TeeeeHeeee...........
  14. BEAUTIFUL! When do you sleep? It appears you can do more on a bad day than I ever could on the best day. Well done mrsS friend!
  15. What baking will we smell first? I can feel your excitement, having gone from one burner to a new stove before.
  16. Hair clippers wouldn't count toward a hair cut now would they? My cost to fly is almost $800 so i will really have to do some fancy talking to get to come again I'm working on it!
  17. Doggie ice cream treats. 3 ripe bananas 1cup of peanut butter 32 oz. plain yogurt Blend well and freeze in ice cube trays. I froze my mixture on a cookie sheet and will score into serving sizes. I'm thinking popsicles dipped in chocolate would be pretty yummy for us. This batch was a little tart because I used some older yogurt. The dogs don't care and they get treats at the camp grounds now too.
  18. Hi! Mom M. Glad to know I am not the only one short on stamina. Off topic: are you going to Darlene's? We are going to Arizona in December.
  19. Those are massive trees. So glad you are O.K. Our province has had heavy rain fall for the last few days and a State of Emergency has been called in many communities because of severe flooding. There are many towns being evacuated and some of the highways have been washed over or completely out. Today, Canada Day, the sun is shining brightly, and the festivities are on in our little town. We were fortunate not to have any of the really heavy rains. Keep safe in the clean up, and be sure to enjoy the 4th of July!
  20. Indeed, being sugar free makes a huge difference . Glad you are feeling better so quickly!
  21. Andrea, I freeze zucchini and use it in smoothies along with other veg/mostly fruit too.
  22. I use cornstarch with essential oils mixed into it. I just use a bowl and a tiny wire whisk to mix my desired combination (your tee tree oil would work with something else for a more pleasant smell). You might try an essential oil (roll on) as well but be sure to use a carrier oil so as not to sting. Coconut oil has amazing healing properties as well. Be clean, and dry, lather up in the coconut oil, air dry, ( I soak up the oil like a sponge) follow with your powder combo. And yes cutting out the sugars helps a great deal. I keep my powder on the vanity in a pretty container with the big soft puff for application. Makes me feel better just Dustin up. It has been harder to keep dry because we are out most of the day doing yard work, but the routine, sometimes more than once a day surely helps me. I had to really make the effort to cut out the sugars, I was on a binge, so not good with diabetes, and did notice the difference when better choices were being made though. Praying you have success in what you try
  23. Andrea: In stewing rhubarb I just add a tiny bit of water to start the pot, there is plenty of liquid in the stalks, it cooks down quickly. Just add in desired fruit/s and/or sugar. Cook down to desired consistency, pour into hot sterilized jars. My mom used to add bananas and strawberries into a batch and it was really good, but I don't know how the bananas didn't mush up..... Maybe that combo wasn't canned.
  24. Mt Rider, canning rhubarb is like doing apple sauce. You can use it plain or add different combinations/ varieties of fruits with it. Dh was whining to have it on ice cream until I told him it is unsweetened. With my being diabetic, I'm fine without sugar, the berries sweeten it enough for me.
