  1. Nette, I am praying for you and yours. I wanted to suggest calling your local Hospice. I attend a grief counseling program they sponsor. It's free and open to anyone who has lost a loved one regardless of if they were tended by hospice or not. In our group most of the attendees lost a family member due to illness but a couple had sudden deaths. Hospice services are available to everyone (but call yours to verify). This time of year the meetings are discussing how to survive the holidays. Also, periodically various churches run announcements that they offer grief counseling. Check your newspaper or just call around. If you have a pastor perhaps he can recommend a place. You ARE in a fog right now, and that's not necessarily a bad thing. It must be our body's way of helping us cope initially. Unbelievably, I paid two house payments in October, just four days apart. That explains why the balance in my checkbook is so low, eh? I have no memory of having done that. It's good that you and your daughter are sharing memories of the happy times. That's healthy. I recently lost my husband, but his mother lost her child. I can't understand your loss but I know the toll it's taking on my MIL. You will remain in my prayers.
  2. This is lovely, and certainly easier on the eyes that the beautiful patriotic background. I LOVE autumn!
  3. Thanks so much for your well-wishes. I haven't posted much lately but I pop in and read. My DH just died and life changed in a heartbeat. Our son is treating me like a queen today and we're getting through this together. All the best to everyone, Glynn P.S. Hug your dear ones and tell them you love them. After you do that, do it again.
  4. Just read this thread -- some really great ideas here! Wanted to let you know that I recently ordered from Emergency Essentials and requested that my items be shipped in a plain box. When it arrived I noticed someone had covered the large logo on the box with plain white labels. I really appreciated that. So don't be concerned about ordering from EE. Request a plain box.
  5. Dear Loretta, Lifting you in prayer to the Great Physician. Blessings to you!
  6. Happy Birthday! Sending happiness your way on YOUR special day. Hope all your wishes come true! All the best, Lana
  7. Merry Christmas to you and yours, Darlene. And may God bless us everyone! All the best, Glynn
  8. Nana, if you aren't a sight for sore eyes! Great to see you.
  9. Does anyone have a link to directions to make a quilt frame? The link in the very first post on this thread is invalid. Thanks so much!
  10. When I first came on board here at MrsS I was knotted up with anxiety and dread of the immediate future. Strangely, I don't feel that way today. I don't know why because I read the news and it's certainly bleak in many areas. We're all in sticker shock each time we buy our groceries, aren't we? It's amazing how the prices escalate from week to week. I, too, pray for sales and, more often than not, I'll run across unadvertised specials and markdowns so I can add to the preps and be a good steward of our money. For months now during my daily devotionals verses leap out at me -- the verses that admonish us to extend our hand to the poor. "Feed my sheep" the Lord says, not once but three times. I have received my marching orders over and over in the scriptures to care for the poor and needy among us. The times I take advantage of the "10 for $10" sales I'll read yet another verse that has me making up bags for the local food pantry. So my personal prepping is at a slower pace so I can give. It doesn't make sense viewed by my earthly eyes. All I can figure out is that there isn't a recession in Heaven. (smile)
  11. Thanks for the well wishes. Yesterday was loads of fun. I heard from friends and loved ones and I was treated like a queen. The only disappointment was that I didn't see any shooting stars. My birthday falls on the day of the annual Perseid meteor showers -- talk about special! But it was overcast and now I will have to wait another year. Today it's back to real life for me. I need to visit the post office, library, grocery store -- the list is long. But I'm smiling!
  12. Dogmom4, aren't you sweet. Thanks for the good wishes. I'm having a great birthday! All the best!
  13. Darlene, you've come so far from life in the city. You're my hero!
  14. Sending prayers for Westie!
  15. Happy Birthday, HSMom! Hope it was fabulous. All the best!
