  1. Thanks for looking. I guess I am out of luck unless I run across someone selling them.
  2. I can find recipes but they all say to put them in the frig. I am thinking heating up to a boil and then waterbath for 10 minutes. The basis of these pickles is dill pickles and most people I have talked to use commercial canned dills. thanks
  3. Does anyone can Fire & Ice Pickles? The only recipes I can find are for refrigerator pickles. Knew someone that canned them but she has passed away and didn't write down her recipes.
  4. I do a bit of shopping at WM. Agree that some of the "Great Value" products are good and some not so good. I definitely use the price matches. There have changed it so you can show the advertised prices on your cell phone. I have "heard" that they will be going to a point that if you can't show it on your cell, you are out of luck but that hasn't happened here. One WM that I go to will only match advertised prices in the same town. They are the only town with a grocery store in the county. Haven't really noticed a large difference in the checkout times. If I don't have a price match, I usually go to the self-checkout if I only have a few things.
  5. :hug3: As instructed. hugs for the work you do on the site. We really appreciate you.
  6. I have read other articles about Grazontm. Not a good thing. My question--is there a residual in animals that are fed this hay and then butchered? After all, Round-uptm is just to kill weeds also.
  7. Hugs for both of you. Be careful. Will be praying for her healing and ya'lls safety.
  8. I mentioned craigslist to him. He is not too much on computers (he is 75+) but his son is and I think they will be doing that. He may be selling at First Monday in Ripley, MS to finally get rid of everything canned and I am going to suggest that he at least take the new ones there to maybe sell. He offered them to me (I don't use quarts) but also a couple of other canned foods vendors at the market. They turned them down. Apparently prefer to pay the much higher price at Wal-Mart. He and his late wife bought jars by the dozens of cases from the local Fred's. Fred's usually has the best prices around here but the local manager also gave him a better price due to how much they bought at one time.
  9. Well, I am glad you are. I think I would begin to wonder if you weren't. lol
  10. I have a friend at the local farmers market who sells canned jams, jellies, and pickles. Well, his wife passed away last year at this time and he is only coming now to sell what he has in stock. He asked me today if I used quart jars. Well, I use very few and have plenty. He said if I know someone who needs them to give them his phone number. He has about 5-6 cases of brand new quarts (I think regular mouth) that he will sell for $5.00/case. He says he has total about 300 jars so I am figuring that means over 200 used. If you are interested, pm me and I will give you his phone number. He is in Byhalia, MS. BTW. he also has a large stock(about 200 or so) of the large peanut bags. Brand new and he wants to sell them but I don't know what he wants for them. I got one to use to hang onions.
  11. Unfortunately, so true, so true. More is the only answer.
  12. I thought Golden Harvest made wide mouth lids. I get mine through Fred's Discount Stores. If you are in the Mid-South (they are headquartered in Memphis) or the Southeast, check their website fredsinc.com to see if they have a store near you.
  13. Well, I made the jam but have not tasted it, yet. It looks pretty just not as red as straight raspberry jam. The last batch of raspberry jam disappeared fast because we had company. At one setting, three men wiped out a third of a pint of the jam. Then they snacked out. I sent small jars home with each of them. Actually, I make a tri-berry jelly that turns out well. Raspberries, Blackberries and Elderberries. Started out because I didn't get enough of any of them to make a batch.
  14. I am getting ready to make raspberry jam and have just measured. I am short one cup of raspberries. Thinking of just using a cup of blackberries to substitute. Do you think it would make a large difference in the taste? I know it would be made the same.
  15. Late, I know. But, I make sweet pickle relish and I hate onions. I chop them very small and they are a smaller part in my recipe. But, my recipe is a little different. The process is the same but the ingredients are: All vegetables are chopped first thing. 8 medium cucumbers 1 large onion 2 C chopped red bell peppers 2 C chopped green peppers 1/2 C canning salt 7 C sugar 2 T celery seed 2 T mustard seed 4 C vinegar (I use white)
  16. In the electronics or crafts sections, there are hook and look tapes that are similar to zip-ties except they can be reused. I am sorry, I don't remember which department I found them in. I am sure I got them at Wal-Mart. I use them to tie up long cords. They can either be caught to each other or they have a slot on one end for the other end to go through. I think there was about 6 of them in a package. Don't remember how much I paid. Just looked at the walmart website. They are Velcro cable ties. Several sized packages. They come in different colors which can help if you need to distinguish between types of cables.
  17. Kinko's or FedEx Kinko's. Around here, there is also the UPS Store, Office Depot and the local public library.
  18. He has a blog. I read the four books on his blogspot. I don't know if the stories were changed or not. deepwinterstory.blogspot.com
  19. I make the wrist warmers but I call them fingerless gloves. I have a pair that stay in my heavy work coat for me. Easy and quick. But, I knit mine.
  20. I make a pumpkin bread mixture (use processed fresh pumpkin) and just bake as muffins. Hubby really likes them.
  21. Well, gas prices are lower but they are the only prices that are lower. I would really like to see what they include in their cost of living analysis.
