Dee, I read One Second After years ago...that was a hard book to read. Had a few nightmares after I read it. Have you read the second one that came out. I don’t remember what it’s called.

    One Year After.

    It's a trilogy now. https://smile.amazon.com/John-Matherson-Second-After-Final-ebook/dp/B06Y158VZC/

I've only read the first one.

If you search by the author, One Second After and One Year After are available in Kindle Unlimited if you subscribe to that.

Jeepers DH can not write legibly because of tremors and the lawyer told him he could sign anything with an X if he had a witness, even his will.

A friend of mine performed our wedding ceremony.  He's blind.  He put his initials on our marriage certificate where it says signature.  They asked, all I had to do was say "He's blind," and they moved right along without further question.

As the CG said, you can buy it at grocery stores, BUT, you have to ask for it because the freezer it is in is kept locked. They also inquire to know if you know how to handle it safely and will give instructions for doing so.

    *blinks*

Ours is in a cooler up towards the front.  Not locked or anything.  Never heard of them questioning someone about it.  Must be a regional thing.

Midnightmom, I've heard of the dry ice method too. I wouldn't even know where to go about getting any. Maybe a party supply store that sells it for the Halloween 'fog' machines?  I've heard the suction is so strong it can collapse a bucket. It pops back up when opened though.

I can buy it at the grocery store.  Ask!

DD13 and I left the baby with DH and had a girl's afternoon for the first time in years.  We went and saw the movie Dog (which had more drugs in it than I was expecting for PG13 :/ but was otherwise good.)  Then we went to Panara for a late lunch.   Cheddar broccoli soup for me and a turkey bravo sandwich for her. I got her a chocolate croissant for dessert. mmmm.  10/10 as per kid.

Afterwards we went to Michael's so she could get a new sketchbook.  Half the isles were empty and they stopped carrying almost everything I was interested in.  It was horrible.  Half the store was cricut vinal or ribbon.  The other half was basically home decor/art supplies.  There were almost no stickers and only a 4ft section of scrapbook stuff and about 3ft of mostly empty planner shelf.  I've been into planners and papercrafting for over 30 years.  This made me quite sad.

Gas is up to over $4 at the gas station at the end of our neighborhood.

Would you be interested in a bunch of Happy Planner stickers and such?  As it turns out, I’m doing good to write in a planner.  Forget about making it all pretty!

  6. Going to be at work until late tonight...and tomorrow night...then half the day on Saturday.  That's just to record someone who's doing some trainings - we're also starting the actual construction part and working on getting portables cleared out.  Plus they're talking about not hiring a replacement for my assistant.  Plus the person who does our social media is leaving.  Guess what's going to get added into my job description again?  I need to come up with cumulative list and ask them what they DON'T want to get down, 'cause I'm not going to work 60 hours a week every week.

DH mentioned you all are getting ready to have an ice storm.  Praying your power stays on and you have enough supplies to make it through it.

Lol, sometimes I get tired of waiting for my machine and had sew everything. :happy0203:

Power better stay on - our camper is still down at my parents' house!

We do have enough heaters and a generator that we'd make it through alright.  Reminder to set: Tell hubby to go fill the propane tanks tonight.

I'm planning on being the only one in the office on Thursday - I'll bring in my lunch, and will probably transfer the phones to my cell phone Wednesday night in case I can't get to the office.

  8. Getting ready to batten down the hatches for cold later this week.  High of 26F on Thursday!

Had a rather social weekend.  Started working on an apron  made entirely of rectangles today. Got it cut out and started pressing the seams and everything up to the point where I really have to get the sewing machine out…but that will be for another day..

  9. So…definitely just sinus headaches from it being so dry. I’ll pick up a small humidifier for my office tomorrow on my way in.

my weighted blanket came in this weekend. Used it last night - I think I’m in love. I didn’t overheat, I didn’t freeze, and I slept.

  10. Someone else in the office that I work with closely tested positive for COVID Wednesday.  Very rapid onset, felt like allergies, then WHAM.  She does say it’s still about like a cold.

Today, I had a massive sinus headache.  Ended up coming home early from work.  Mom, who lives 3 hours away now, told me that she also has one.  It’s probably just seasonal crud again.  Weeee!

  11. Hubby is suddenly acting shocked that there is food in our pantry that is expired and telling me that he isn’t going to eat it…even stuff that just expired at the end of last year. Wondering what happened to my husband…

My little coffee counter is much cleaner and less cluttered now, since I had to clean off the whole dang thing after my coffee exploded yesterday (I’m thinking I didn’t have the filter firmly attached to the Aeropress.  I had bought 2 folding shelves to go on it (was going to work on that area this weekend - still need to go through the cabinets below) - they fit just on either side of my electric burr grinder I bought myself on discount after Christmas.  I do, of course, have the manual one still, but it’s ticking me off because the lid pops off while grinding.

What’s the best way to store coffee for later?  I buy mine in 5-pound bags, and I’d bought more in December because they had a good sale on it, but I’m only about halfway through my previous bag.

  12. I now have TWO tiny closets for the pantry, instead of one and half the other.  I need to do a full kitchen purge and reset before too long.

Hubby believes in stocking up on ammo, but not on food.  I need to at least start buying some of the canned food we eat a lot of at Sam’s, where it comes in a case, so he doesn’t ask why I bought 8 cans of green beans instead of just 2.
