  1. Praying for your Mom and for safe travel for you.
  2. I did 10 miles. You folks are doing so good!
  3. It's the Living Word. I love that scripture that says "They turned from their idols to the living God". Whatever our idols may be - He is so much more satisfying and eternal.
  4. Our rhodies and azaleas are pretty hardy. Wish we could bottle some of the cold for the hot days of summer. When I used to do a long bus commute to work, I'd think "snow" on the hot days and "hot sun" in the cold days.
  5. Stacy, I hope they get that plumbing thing solved for you today. What a nightmare! the way someone has remodeled it. There was a basement but it's totally not visible anymore (used to have a couple of little windows high up on the basement wall).
  6. Grandma Day's Eggless, Milkless, Butterless Cake 2/3 cup lard or shortening 1 cup sugar 1 cup black coffee or water 1/2 to 1 cup raisins Bring to boil, set aside and let cool. Sift 2 cups flour with 1 teaspoon salt, 1/2 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/2 teaspoon cloves, 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg into cooled above mixture. Bake at 350 degrees 35 minutes. You may add nuts, dried fruits, gum drops, etc. This recipe was used often during the lean years of the depression and was handed down from Great-Grandma Day. (Grandma Day was a wonderful little lady who passed
  7. Quote: May we each long for our Lord with every step we take....His way nomatter how difficult is the only way to take. Amen. He has a way of leading and guiding that changes our hearts to take His path even with the rough spots.
  8. The furnace is churning away and am I glad!
  9. I am re-reading Joy's Legacy under Within These Pages on this website.
  10. Tonight's news showed some people cross country skiing on the snow (snow on the sand) at Cannon Beach, OR.
  11. I have missed HappyGirl's stories so much! I'm heading over there to reread them.
  12. Dee raced to the head of the group!
  13. We had about 3" of snow and it's still covering the ground and our driveway. Schools cancelled and a meeting I was going to this afternoon was cancelled because it's getting cold again tonight and some of that might ice up. So I'm just staying home looking at it from the warm house.
  14. Northwoods, I like walking, too. Especially outside. Right now I'm walking inside on the treadmill but my very favorite is walking on a path along the river or at the state park where there is a lot to be seen or on some forest trails. When my son lived in this area he would ride his bike on the park trails and since it was quiet he would sometimes see deer and once a coyote as well as the usual birds, frogs, chickorees. I find that walk the most refreshing of them all - we have walked for 3 hours and it seems like no time at all because the scenery is constantly changing. You'll have to te
  15. I did 8 miles. Aiming for more this week.
  16. Praying for your gran.
  17. Cookiejar: Declutter, declutter, declutter. My messes are getting better - how about yours?
  18. Oh, Teaberry! I think if you weren't satisfied that hairdresser should have fixed it for you. Having said that, same thing happened to my daughter-in-law. She was having highlights put in and was told how beautiful it would look and it was orangish in her black hair! She was in tears. And the thing is who wants to go back to someone like that?! I haven't dyed mine for some years because it's dark brown (with grey) and it tends to "grab" the dark and look even darker. Last time I thought I'd "touch up the grey" I went to work the next day and the first patient to come in the door (I wor
  19. My plan is walking 5 days during the week, eat more veggies and fruit, moderation. I've been looking through and organizing photos. Yikes! It gives me a visual I don't usually see when I look in the bathroom mirror. So I put one of those chunky photos where I will see it along with one where I weighed less.
  20. Good morning . I've got some turkey noodle soup on and I'm putting away Christmas things.
