  1. Ginger is a good tummy settler too.
  2. At the risk of getting “bombed” I have been picking up walnuts. Not because I like them but I do not like unexpected rolling objects to throw me down should I step on them. A long needed chore of removing the gutter screen from around the base of the chicken house was accomplished . It was soft enough animals pushed through it but as long as I had the chickens they could not go under there. I am weary of waiting, perhaps I have not been waiting but if someone says they want to buy this place I want to see action. I know I had to have a chance for this hip to heal which it is doing ever so much better now, but I have done all for this place I want to do. I am not a rocking chair person. And with nothing to do..I am liable to sink into despair or worse. I want a little farm so I can have a few rabbits, a few chickens, maybe a goat or two, and a garden. I am not even asking for much of a house! But I would rather die with my boots on than live worthlessly.
  3. I was asked before surgery if I drank alcohol, no. They could see I was a redhead. About two hours after surgery I got nauseous and started throwing up. I did not ask for anything but the nurse volunteered they had no anti nausea meds in the hospital.

  5. CG I can well imagine you can taste them , did not know they were consumable! Mt_Rider. I received a message from a cousin that my first cousins wanted to call and talk to me. I still have not given permission because I do not know what they want. 40 years earlier they left on the day of my Mother’s funeral and I never saw or heard from them until now. As children we were always together until our early teens. Then their mother forbade them to play with us. We worked for our living from our early teens and they lived in the lap of luxury. Now their parents are dead, so what do I know ? They are near strangers to me, somehow I do not think they want to apologize.
  6. Just got off the phone talking with a lady I have house sit for many times. She and her husband both work full time and have a full time farm to come home to. So for the last several years they have been taking the Shelties to the local groomer to trim nails and give baths. When they picked up the Sheltie recently , he was limping. The groomer swore he was limping when they dropped him off. They had also clipped him so his beautiful coat was only one inch. They took him to the DVM when he would not stop limping....thought maybe his nails were cut too short. The DVM on X-ray said he had developed arthritis after an injury. I am guessing he fell off the table on his back. He nor the other Sheltie will NOT be going back to the groomer.
  7. If you count only groomers.. their numbers are shocking. Carelessness if you want to call it that.. walk off and leave a dog on the table, head up in the high choke position, panic or moves and falls off the table. I have heard about these for many years. Petsmart , I have seen people working with the dogs that definitely were not well versed in what they were doing.
  8. You do have indeed.com for job checking? Praying for both of your men, mommato3boys and Becca_Anne
  9. Depends on the child. We took turns dusting the corner shelf loaded with fragile bric bracs when were 5 and 6 years old. But some children are clumsy and this would not be a task for them. Daily emptying trash , working in the garden, helping with canning, sewing, making bread or cookies with supervision in all tasks until they can be trusted to do it well. Clearing the table and washing dishes . All household chores can be delegated within reason.
  10. Jeepers , sound like you are really getting things done.... Not sure I am because I start but don’t think I have finished anything yet. Because as my day started it is continuing. Washed a load of clothes, the seeing my scrub brush , got down on my knees and scrubbed the porch and part of the wall. Came in to rest and read a book from Gutenberg.org had a late lunch , started in bathroom and it still is not finished. Went back out and scrubbed on more of porch wall. 92 degrees so it is a pleasant task! Washed the broom and mop so waiting on them to dry....
  11. Methinks this is going to be one of those days...... Up at 4a.m. breakfast, straightened bedroom, went to bathroom started cleaning...before I finished washing blinds, the cat wanted out. I went out with him, taking empty jars to laundry room, brought dried towels in and folded/put away, took trash out, where was I ? I guess back to the bathroom. My longtime wanna be buyer has said maybe as early as the end of of this month but for sure before the end of the year... not that I would have to be out that quick but...........
  12. Jeepers You go girl !!!! They are really going to miss you when you leave !
  13. Thank you all, yes I am sure most of us have pets and have lost them in the past. My hurt is more the helplessness I feel that I could get no help for her. I do not know your feelings about puppy mills or commercial breeders, but if you want a good veterinarian live in an area where there is a major dog population for the best care!!! I now live where there are the poorest choice anyone could imagine! Sorry Mt_Ryder bad neighbors are hard to take....have been there! Start smiling really big....they will wonder what you are up to. ...try it it really works. Do not let them see you upset... that is what they are looking for! Kappy hang on tight.. all of you in the path of these storms not just Florence but all the rest behind her be safe!!
  14. The tarps are excellent for use in many things and last indefinitely. Here they are called billboard tarps. They used to cost $40 at Branson. I think there is a place in Ohio selling them but I think they were asking $80. They are incredibly heavy and depending on the size of the billboard is the size the tarp will be divided usually by 4 but more on those signs. WE2 I think you are the only one on here to know my dog Joy. I buried her Monday.
  15. WE2 glad to hear your surgery is over. I did not know they were still doing the near and far vision . So many people talk about the colors they can now see! Sorry about the vein problem.... Well Jeepers those baskets can be filled with the soft or small things you are taking on your next trip. They look like they will stack...be great to keep in the Jeep!
  16. My yard man charges me $60 for my two acres, which includes lot of weed eating.,... My little 90 year old friend 1hour SW has to pay $75 , weed eating $75 extra . Maybe you had better get some sheep.....
  17. Sorry you are having problems!!!! As far as the knee pain..are you walking different? Is your back pain putting stress on your walking? If my foot doesn't stay straight or I start walking on the side of my foot..I can have savage knee pain. Getting one or both under control , no knee pain! Take care of yourself!! You are loved! I know what you mean...I bought an expensive love seat 25 years ago. It has lasted beautifully and is worth reupholstering but at my farm sale it would not even bring a $1. So I moved it up here and it is still good. Today people would rather have faddish stuff which is cheap and they can throw away. They also think of germs. In other words they do not want to work..........
  18. Jeepers, have been thinking of you. Moving after living in a house for many years is a challenge!!!! May I suggest you do this. Get a notebook with an attached pen or pencil and either different colored tape or stickers. Write down what each color means...move/keep, sell, give away, trash. Go through each room tagging articles. Everything on the shelf with same decision, tag the shelf only as it all goes to same place. Maybe you want numbers too, as easy to move or very heavy. It would be helpful also to tag as to which room in new house. Your house could sell tomorrow.. here the day of closing is just that , you are moved out by that day. Please make it easy on yourself, we want you to enjoy that new home...
  19. Kappy I had mild rotary scoliosis. I do not know what my hip surgeon did but there has been a big change in my back. The plan was to do an anterior surgery but my research says with scoliosis a posterior surgery is necessary. So I guess they saw that on the table. Mine was an emergency surgery after a very bad fall.
  20. In case you wondered? The old culverts were dug up and I think new ones were put in. Then........ they piled dirty gravel, or maybe some call it mountain gravel....about 2 feet high.....you know , like a speed bump..... only much, much higher and no going around it........guaranteed to slow you down and creep. When this stuff gets wet it packs hard!!!! I really don’t think they were county but.......they got her done.....the second one is not so high.....
  21. Mrs WE2 wishing you great results after your cataract surgery!
  22. Jeepers it is alright! Don't worry about it. Have you ever picked up the phone to call someone and they called your name as soon as you picked up the phone....? I think it is called telepathy.
  23. That cup of coffee you are drinking is bothering me! I just drink or make coffee in the afternoon... Have been wondering why the acid taste in my mouth... Tested faucet water and the spring water I have been buying .. both tested ,10 and 11ph. It is raining so brought in a bucket of rain water strained it and will try it in the morning for coffee. It tests 6 pH. Learned something from bonesmart... They do have many good points and it is an excellent place to go to learn before you go for the surgery. But I say this... If you have pain it is for a reason. Healing to start with. But I do not think pain should be covered up because infection can and does happen. Using pain medication can cover infection and if it gets deeper can cause a whole lot of problems. In other words find out what is causing pain first beforecovering it.
  24. They do turn around here at night because they can not tell left from right when they leave the bar which was not even open when I bought this place..... The road was open before the school bus come through. People around here just do not take kindly to to obstructions or closures.
