  1. Seeds? Did someone ask if I wanted seeds? PLEASE
  2. Well here in the panhandle of Texas where I am it is currently 2 degrees feels like -6 and snowing. You people north of me need to come get your weather. She is drunk and off her meds and making a mess in my yard. This is day 8 of snot freezing cold weather (anything below 40 is snot freezing cold). Last week we had freezing fog from Sunday to Thursday. The sun finally broke through and melted the ice off the power lines only for it to drop down to single digits and start snowing Saturday. We are experiencing rolling blackouts here. They are trying to reduce our power usage. I thought our CEO at the hosptial where I work was going to blow a gasket this morning. The power company was supposed to give the hospital warning before cutting our power. They didn't and the back up generator failed to kick in. The worse part was we had a patient on the table in the OR. Thank the Lord they had not started the proceedure. They was just about to intubator the patient when the power was cut. It was off an hour. Needless to say it was not pretty at the hospital this morning. The statement from the power is every 8 hours they would cut the power for 30 minutes. If our power is off longer than 60 minutes we are to call. However, at home we lost power twice within two hours. I will not give my opinion of this decision as I would like to keep my memebership here on Mrs. S. But I am sure you can fill in the blanks I am leaving.
  3. I cheat and use http://whitewingsbrand.com/tortilla-mix/ you just add water. The hotter the water the better not boiling but it needs to be hot. Mix it up, cover with plastic wrap let it set for a few minutes then make golf ball size balls cover with camp cloth. (you have to keep the dough from drying out) and roll out thin. I mean really thin as in you can read bold print through it. I use a large iron skillet on med heat and hubby swishes it until it starts to brown then he flips it and repeats process. We then stack them in side a folded kitchen towel and put in side a 2 gallon plastic bag. To use warm, stuff and enjoy.
  4. Tortillas are so easy to make. They are time consuming and really a two person job. But cheap and easy. I mix the dough and roll them out. Hubby cooks them and stacks them.
  5. A fan?!?!? Why have I never thought of a fan....I will have to try that. May just a little one that blows just on the plants. Thanks for the suggestion.
  6. I have had success with growing spinach in a planter inside a long with lettuce. I was told by someone to purchase a tiny soft paint brush from a craft store and become a bee. In other words take your tiny brush and pollinate your plants. Just gently brush the inside of each bloom on each plant. I thought he was crazy but came home and researched what he was saying. I was surprised to find he was correct. https://igworks.com/blogs/the-igworks-indoor-gardening-blog/pollinating-your-indoor-fruit-and-vegetable-plants
  7. I am going to have to try this. Because I too, use the back, neck and wing tips to make broth but picking those tiny bones out of the little bit of meat that is there is not worth it. But with this....well let's just say we are going to have chicken soup burgers.
  8. So if your food storage is not anything like mine, you have a wide variety of dry beans. I on the other hand am heavy on the black bean side. We love them. I make everything from refried beans to burgers with them. I found this page when I was looking for a pulled pork recipe and well it is one of my go to sites. I even get email updates from him. Recently he posted 15 bean recipes. So if you would like to add a little pizzazz to your beans and like Mexican food this is a great place to start. https://www.mexicanplease.com/15-easy-recipes-can-make-beans/
  9. I am looking to can some chicken and I was wondering how you can your chicken... with skin or without skin with bone or without bone do you can it whole or in pieces do you can it raw or do you cook it first Since I don't have my mom or grandmother around to ask I am asking y'all
  10. Annarchy, this is the recipe I use. My DIL who is from Mexico says it taste like home https://www.mamalatinatips.com/2020/04/traditional-mexican-bolillos-easy-recipe.html
  11. It is now SUPER Covid. Yes it seems that COVID-19 has now mutated and is SUPDER COVID.
  12. I had all I could handle of 2020 so I was in bed asleep by 9:30. In my defense I went grocery shopping after work and I had rather scrub toilets than shop. Happy New Year everyone. Praying 2021 treats us much better than 2020.
  13. According to the IRS website they are already sending out the $600 by direct deposit. Paper checks should be going out in the next few weeks.
  14. Let's go, I am so ready for flip flop weather
  15. Here in the panhandle, which technically is West Texas, go fugue, we are to get snow tonight and the rest of the weekend. I don't like snow. But I will take moisture any way I can get it. So be safe in your travels.
  16. You twist the sticks the same way each time and it make it curve.
  17. Thank you. Yes it was a wonderful day. My boys called and wished me happy birthday and had my church family around me so it was a wonderful day.
  18. I wish the 5 year old lives with mom in Virginia. The two here are 2 and 5 months. I could just see the 2 year old helping and the 5 month old would eat everything LOL. I chunked that project and will look for something that does not require a 6 year old next year. Hubby went to the post office today and mine are officially on the way, everyone should have theirs by the weekend. The post office was closed by the time I got there Saturday.
  19. Ok so I am late to the party. The first attempt at an ornament was an epic fail. They lied when they said 6 years old and older. Who knows maybe the 6 year old could have done it better. Any way the first attempt ended up in the garbage. However, the second attempt is looking a lot better. It should go out Wednesday or Friday. I received Annarchy and Snowmom ornaments today.
  20. If they are not backed up they do not have stuff in stock.
  21. Well since I can't edit the above post I will just add a second review down here. So the Liberty Bell Potato Cheddar Soup was a bust I mean it was a big fat ZERO out of Five and I was ready to chunk the remaining three packs but hubs talked me out of it. Today we had Granny's Homestyle Potato soup and had just the opposite issues. It was bland. I mean this would make the perfect sick bed bland soup. I had to add salt, pepper, and butter. I even added sour cream and cheese. It was still really watery. If I had some potato flakes I would have add them to thicken it up. This one I will give 2.5 out of 5. It was edible but needed some TLC to give it some pizazz. We have Broccoli & Cheese Soup and Blue Ribbon Cheesy Rice to go. Cheese again...not super excited about their cheese products. Stay tuned for more reviews.
  22. Several years ago hubby purchased a sample pack of Food4Patriots I put in our overflow pantry thinking we would try it one day. Well today was that day. The temp has dropped and I was in the mood for potato soup. We had been discussing ordering more so that we could have them for camping supplies. I pulled out the cheddar potato soup and followed the instructions. First... it was really watery. Second...Way too salty Third...tasted like it was made with sour milk. We have kept it at the recommended temperature so I am not sure what is wrong. I don't think I want to try the remaining three packs. Nor will I be purchasing more for our camping supplies. I think I will just stick to my Harmony House soups for camping. Or better yet make my own when things are in stock again. Hubby's final review
  23. Gravy and biscuits are my go to dinner or breakfast. It makes that left over one piece of sausage feed two people. When the boys lived at home it was Saturday morning breakfast. It was cheap and filled them up...you know three teenage boys and their hollow legs. I have a bullet smoothie maker that sits on my counter. It gets used for a lot of things and gravy making is one of them. Gravy the glue that holds fills those empty stomachs. Oh don't forget that Red Eye gravy. My grandmother used to say even though it gets it's name from the reddish color, it is really for those days of little or no sleep and you get up with red eyes. The coffee will kick in and get you going.
