Announcement
Orrville, OH - The J.M. Smucker Company today announced a limited voluntary recall on certain lots of 9LivesTM, EverPetTM, and Special KittyTM canned cat food due to possible low levels of thiamine (Vitamin B1).
The issue was discovered by the Quality Assurance team during review of production records at the manufacturing facility. No illnesses related to this issue have been reported to date and the product is being recalled out of an abundance of caution.
Cats fed diets low in thiamine for several weeks may be at risk for developing a thiamine deficiency. Thiamine is essential for cats. Symptoms of deficiency displayed by an affected cat can be gastrointestinal or neurological in nature. Early signs of thiamine deficiency may include decreased appetite, salivation, vomiting, and weight loss. In advanced cases, neurological signs can develop, which include ventroflexion (bending towards the floor) of the neck, wobbly walking, circling, falling, and seizures. Contact your veterinarian immediately if your cat is displaying any of these symptoms. If treated promptly, thiamine deficiency is typically reversible.
The affected product was distributed to a limited number of retail customers from December 20 through January 3, 2017.
The affected production includes the following:

Mikesell's Potato Chip Company. is recalling its 2.25 oz. Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella,, an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.
The recalled Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips were distributed in Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois.
The product comes in a 2.25 ounce, package marked with UPC # 071104005543 on the back and with a sell by date of FEB0216, FEB1617 stamped on the upper right corner.
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The potential for contamination was noted after FDA environmental testing was done at Valley Milk Products, LLC and the presence of Salmonella was noted on equipment. Valley Milk Products, LLC is a secondary supplier to All American Seasoning, the seasoning supplier for our Nacho Cheese seasoning.
Consumers who have purchased 2.25 ounce packages of Nacho Cheese Tortilla Chips are urged to return them to the place of purchase for a full refund. Consumers with questions may contact the company at 1-937-228-9400 Monday-Thursday 8:00 am till 5:00 pm EST.

WASHINGTON, Dec. 23, 2016 – Texas Best Proteins (Farm to Market Foods), a Santo, Texas establishment, is recalling approximately 25,332 pounds of Cajun Style Dirty Rice containing chicken products and Turkey Cajun Dinner Kits containing Dirty Rice due to misbranding and undeclared allergens, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The product may contain peanuts, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.
The Farm to Market Foods Cajun Style Dirty Rice and Turkey Dinner Kits were packaged on 10/27/2016, 11/1/2016, and 11/11/2016. The following products are subject to recall:
View labels PDF only

32 ounce trays of Cajun Style Dirty Rice within the boxes of Cajun Turkey Dinner kits with use/sell by dates of 1/15/2017, 1/17/2017 and 1/30/2017. The case code is 1976.
The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 950” inside the USDA mark of inspection. The products were shipped to retail locations in Texas.
The problem was discovered on Dec. 22, 2016, when the firm was notified by their supplier that the Worcestershire sauce used in the rice product was being recalled because the sauce may contain peanut. The establishment determined the scope of the recall by tracing the use of the recalled Worcestershire back to the October and November production dates.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely conducts recall effectiveness checks to verify recalling firms notify their customers of the recall and that steps are taken to make certain that the product is no longer available to consumers. When available, the retail distribution list will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
Consumers or media with questions about the recall can contact Jason Beyer, at (940) 468-7185.

To let everyone know I will MIA for awhile.
My wife was carjacked in our driveway last night by two thugs. One was armed and pulled the pistol on her. He tried to force her into the trunk and she refused so he punched her and knocked her to the ground. She screamed for me and I flew out the door as they were backing out of the driveway. I started for the car thinking it had somehow gotten away from her and rolled over her. She yelled and told me they had a gun so I went back to cover my wife.
She said she was okay so i ran into the house to get my phone and called the police. They were there within 5 minutes. I had grabbed a blanket to put over her as it is cold out now. The police helped get her up and into the house where they took the report. An investigator came out and took his report also.
They said the city, county, and state police are looking for the car but as of right now we have not heard anything back. I have been up for 27 1/2 hours so far and still have a long way to go. I have to change the locks on the doors, go to the bank because her debit card was in the car, and call the insurance company.
She has quite a bit if skin torn from each knee and her left ankle is swollen and hurts her a lot. She already had a doctor appointment set for in the morning so we will get her checked out really well.
I think the scum bags are from the neighborhood and watched her leave the house by herself and waited by the neighbors bushes until she came back because she said they were at the car door before she even opened the door.
She is trying to get a bit of rest right now but her pain is quite high and the ice pack really isn't helping much. I'm concerned to leave her while I go get the locks in an hour and a half and I have no one t call to come over. I will be leaving a "few other friends" right next to her in case they are needed.
Ladies & guys also, please pay attention at all times when leaving anywhere and it is dark. Thugs like this will take advantage of every thing they can to get the upper hand on you and you may not be as lucky as my wife.
I am asking for prayers that Mrs. Wormie will heal quickly and the fear she is feeling in her heart will quickly go away.
I hear Samson barking so I need to go make a round. Sorry for the rambling.

National Steak and Poultry Recalls Ready-To-Eat Chicken That May Be Undercooked
Class I Recall

Health Risk: High
Dec 4, 2016

Editor’s Note: This release is being reissued as an expansion of the November 23, 2016, release to include additional products and production dates. The initial recall included 17,439 pounds of product. This expansion includes an additional 1,976,089 pounds of product, for a total of 1,993,528 pounds of product. Details of this release were also updated to reflect a change in distribution.
WASHINGTON, Dec. 4, 2016 – National Steak and Poultry, an Owasso, Okla., establishment, is recalling approximately 1,976,089 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products due to adulteration because of possible undercooking, resulting in the potential survival of bacterial pathogens in the products, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.
The scope of this recall expansion now includes a variety of ready-to-eat chicken products that were produced on various dates from August 20, 2016 through November 30, 2016. A list of the additional products subject to recall is listed here.
The cases containing the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-6010T” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to food service locations nationwide and were sold directly to retail consumers at the establishments’ monthly dock sale.
The basis for recalling additional product was discovered on Nov. 28, 2016, when a food service customer complained to the establishment that product appeared to be undercooked.
Below are the details of the originally recalled product:
On November 23, 2016 – National Steak and Poultry recalled approximately 17,439 pounds of ready-to-eat chicken products produced Oct. 4, 2016. The products were packaged on Oct. 4 and Oct. 5, 2016. The following products are subject to recall:
5 lb. bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled “Distributed by National Steak and Poultry, Owasso, OK Fully Cooked, Diced, Grilled Boneless Chicken Breast Meat with Rib Meat” with Lot code 100416, and Case Code: 70020.
5 lb. bags packed 2 bags per case; product labeled “Hormel Natural Choice 100% Natural No Preservatives Fully Cooked Roasted Chicken Breast Strips with Rib Meat Natural Smoke Flavor Added” with Lot code 100416, and Case code 702113.
The cases containing the products subject to recall bear establishment number “P-6010T” inside the USDA mark of inspection. These items were shipped to food service locations nationwide and should not be in consumers’ possession. No other Hormel product is impacted. The original problem was discovered on Nov. 14, 2016, when a food service customer complained to the establishment that product appeared to be undercooked.
There have been no confirmed reports of adverse health effects or illnesses due to consumption of any of the recalled products. Anyone concerned about a health effect should contact a healthcare provider.
When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on the FSIS website at www.fsis.usda.gov/recalls.
Consumers or media with questions about the recall can contact Lyle Orwig at (262) 352-2426.
