Haven't been here on ages, but one of the 1st forums I checked out was this one. Just went and bought Bystander for my Kindle. Can't wait to start!

I didn't blanch mine and it turned out fine. I've already used some of the dehydrated squash in soup and it was great! Didn't taste any different in the soup than fresh squash would have.
-
Anybody ever done it? What were your results? and what do you use it in?
I have several books devoted to dehydrating and they all seem to be very skimpy on info relating to summer squash and its uses. I love summer squash fresh, but have never tried preserving it.
Help
TIA.

Precooked bacon. I worked with a young girl in her early 20's thought it was just the greatest thing. I just looked at her, dumbstruck, when she told me that.
There is something seriously wrong with people who buy precooked bacon. IMHO, 95% of the experience of eating bacon is smelling it cook before hand. Plus, who can't fry bacon?

No, IMHO, a dark sheet won't work well. Not heavy enough. But Lowes has some cheap blackout shades (less than $12) that work great.
