  1. Happy, happy birthday. More so because we share a birthday because it's my birthday too.
  2. I think I already know the answer to this but here goes, say you are going to can your favorite recipe of spaghetti sauce, can you use the canned tomato sauce from the store or do you have to make your own tomato sauce?
  3. I just got delivery of half of a half, in other words a quarter. My steer was 1400 pounds standing weight and dressed out for my quarter at 232 pounds. I have an upright chest freezer and I thought it would fill it totally (I was a bit worried because I had just butchered chickens) but in the end with all the beef I still had room for chickens and loads of other stuff. When you order your beef in bulk you can give your cutting instructions such as how thick you want your steaks, how many pounds your roasts, what percentage hamburger and fat, if you want soup bones, etc. Where I order from it is picked up wrapped and flash frozen. It is a great way to get quality meat with no hormones.
  4. Okay. From another forum I got the information that I will share. Apparently, the Survival Blog Swedish server, which is the one we use to connect is under DoS attack. You can connect through the US server right now though. Both servers should be bookmarked in case something like this happens again. http://64.92.111.122/ [u.S. server] http://95.143.193.148/ [swedish server] There is a possibility that both may go down during the attack but currently I just got through using the U.S. server. Note to self, next time JWR tells you to make sure you note down the IP adress and bookmark it, listen to what he says. :frying pan:
  5. Anyone know the Survival Blog IPO so we could get on that way?
  6. Not sure where to post this but we haven't been able to access Survival Blog for the past 2 days. Anyone else having the same problem? I had the IP address written down but who know where it is right now. Thanks for the help.
  7. Welcome. I lived in Iquitos, Peru in a boat on the Amazon doing what you are doing and, as you say, the whole trying to prep thing is way more expensive and harder to get. I look forward to your posts.
  8. You might try hydrogen peroxide. I know it is the best for getting blood out.
  9. Thank you so much. It is good to know you have our backs.

    Christy

Just wanted to let everybody know, per Christy's request, that she is going to be AWOL for a bit dealing with some stuff. She loves everyone at Mrs S and will be back as soon as she can. Don't worry if you don't hear from her. I stay in phone and email contact with her.
  11. My treadle which is a Singer takes current needles. I did buy some old ones on Ebay but discovered that current needles fit and work fine.
  12. I lived in rural Mexico for quite a while and the remedy there is oregano tea with a pinch of salt added. Worked for me.
  13. We were stocking up on more light bulbs yesterday and the day before and expected to see the shelves empty but very few people remember the passage of the law. Most of the store clerks didn't have a clue about it either. On top of being forced to eventually buy CFLs if we run out of regular bulbs, the CFLs we have to use will be illegal in 2018. Further problems with CFLs are that they don't give as much light, last as long and there are now problems with them catching fire. Solution: buy old style light bulbs while you still can.
  14. Necie, I've been missing you too!!! I think about you a lot...every time I use goat soap or lotion or whenever anyone asks a goat question. Hope things aren't terrible. I know times are hard and you have lots of goats relying on you.

    Google Chrome

From everything I have read there are lots of problems with Google Chrome. Everything I have read said not to upgrade. New info from IT at work indicates that lots of programs already on your computer aren't compatible with it. I use Google all the time too and I have never upgraded. Just saying.
