    The Homestead

Westbrook: I am doing good! Today I was mopping the floor and dripping with sweat (not a pretty site). We are trying to keep our air conditioning off as long as possible, so I try not to turn it on until after 2:00. I didn't quite make it today! I barely planted some tomato plants this year. I had hoped to have a big garden....oh well!!! Next year!!! Enjoy your animals, and homestead!!! Have a wonderful day!
  2. Oh wow....you have a lot of work ahead of you!!! It sounds like a really neat place you live though!!! My best friend lives in Everett, WA....how far away is Olympia?
  3. nanapop: ((((((hugs)))))) I am so sorry things are so overwhelming right now. I will be praying for you. I just want to give you another couple ideas for your brother. There is going to be a synposium (sp?) on cancer with nutritionists, oncologists, oriental medical doctors, etc. who have seen dramatic healing of cancer through nutrition, supplements, etc They really believe that you need to get to the root of why someone has developed cancer, etc. Here is a phone number to Doug Kauffman's office (972)772-0990 where you can get information. I know some people are leary of alternative medicine, but when the medical field doesn't have much hope it sure can't hurt anything. Also, you might want to check out Gardenoflifeusa.com There is a supplement RM-10 that was made for this man's grandma who was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. She started to take this as well as dramatically changed her diet and now has a clean bill of health. I am sorry, I don't mean to be pushy and hopefully I don't appear to be insensitive, because I really do care for your brothers situation. I hope that maybe he would call these two places and ask some questions. Please, hang in there and know that you are not alone. People care about you!
  4. I would like to know more about a "victory garden".
  5. Oh.....I am so happy for you and your mom!!!! I know the relief you are feeling and the joy!
  6. Junebug: I will be praying too!!!! It must be hard for you. Take some time out to build yourself up through whatever you enjoy. Personally when I get overloaded with things I turn on praise music, read the Bible and do something that makes me feel accomplished, relaxed, etc. Hang in there!
  7. Oh Kimba- that is terrible!!!! I hope the bank works with you and you can get this resolved!!!!

    The Homestead

Westbrook: I just wanted to say Hi!!!!!! It sure sounds like you are busy! How do you like this heat we are having? Whew....the mornings are nice!
  9. Thanks for the great ideas!!!! I think I will go do that today!
  10. Hi Lynnie: I am so sorry for the troubles you are going through right now. I will be praying for you! As Darlene said...maybe we all haven't gone through exactly what you are going through, but we have had the "rug pulled out from under us." Difficult times are not pleasant, but seem to be part of life we all go through. Hang in there, and keep talking with friends, pastor, etc.

    Can I Join In?

Gooseliver: Wow, what a difference!!! You are a very beautiful lady. Just thinking about that kale juice...gulp! You are an encouragement to me! Have a great day!
  15. Life is so fragile and special. That becomes more evident as we see loved ones go through situations like Lois' mom. It makes me appreciate each and every day that God gives us to breathe and be on this earth.

    Can I Join In?

Madkat: Thanks for the site! I don't have time right now to check it out but will in the next few days. I did notice one little statement about the health this diet brought. That is basically my goal and purpose is being healthy. Since I just started juicing I haven't tried too many yet. I have juiced carrots, carrot-beet-cucumber, and probably my favorite for health reasons is carrots and spinich. I have this book "Fresh Vegetable and Fruit Juices...what is missing in your body" by N.W. Walker D.SC. It talks about conditions you might have or want to prevent and the one juice that over and over was helpful was the carrot and spinich. I typically don't juice fruit (except when I was sick) because the sugar level is higher than just eating a fruit with the fiber. Do you juice as well? Have a wonderful day!
  17. Oh, what a drag!!!!! We have a new housing tract being built across the street from us. The dirt that was stirred up was so bad we had layers of dirt in our houses. We have a swimming pool and within one day there was so much dirt in it that it completely filled my filter and I had to go out and clean it (this happened twice). They cut off our water more than once (although we did get a little notice). They cut the gas lines by accident and we had no gas a couple times and then they had to come and make sure we didn't have any leaks in the house. We get a lot of wind and the workers would leave their huge pieces of plastic, bags from lunch, etc. and then they would blow in our yard, and they wouldn't pick it up (unless we complained to the city). I finally lost it was when they were blocking our driveway and we couldn't get in or out. We had workers over there sometimes even in the middle of the night or a truck dropping off a tractor in the middle of the night. It gets frustrating....so don't feel bad. I don't think they realize what a strain it puts on the residences and they are not always considerate! Give yourself a break! I hope everything gets better for you soon, including your arm!
  18. I have cleaned out items we haven't used in the past year from every room and am boxing it up to donate. I am not entertaining as much....we have a swimming pool and we tend to have people over a lot and then I always feel I should cook them dinner too! I stepped down from working on the Women's Retreat Committee at my church for this next year and reduced other things that I am doing. Basically, I have cut myself down to just serving in one thing at my church this next year instead of several. That's it for now!

    Can I Join In?

I would like to know more about the Hallelujah diet. My husband and I have cut out dairy products, sugar, processed foods, caffeine. It was a definate challenge at first, but we are doing it for health. It's a challenge though when we go to someone's house for dinner. We are in the process of switching to rangefree/grass fed beef and rangefree chicken. We also are trying to be careful to not eat too much meat...maybe 4 oz for hubby and 3 oz for me. Gooseliver, I have just started juicing about a month ago. What is your favorite?
  20. Thanks for the interesting article! I still have to say that Stevia is my sweetener of choice...but I haven't tried baking with any of them.
  21. How is your mom doing at home? I am so happy for you, your mom and family. Life is so precious!
