  1. Well, I think I am going to have to buy my tomato's for the salsa. My tomato plants have many blossoms, but no little tomato's. That's what I get for planting them late in the year. The weather here is usaually about 110-112 degrees at this time of year, but it is only about 85-90 degrees this week. So, it feels more like fall. I don't know if this will last or not...but that may have slowed my tomato's, I am not sure. It's nice to not use our air conditioner though. I love to get up at 4:30 a.m. and open up the whole house and cool it down to 70. AAAhhhh!!!! That feels good!
  2. I am still here! I have been so busy that I haven't been online as much!!! I have been pretty active and making sure that I get in my exercise this past week faithfully. I clean and do things around my house for 8 hours + and then in the afternoon I swim for at least 30 minutes. Oh my the first night I woke up in the middle of the night so sore. But, yesterday I was able to swim and feel really good and not get worn out. Yeah! I have been eating good......except some potato chips! Shame on me for going to the store hungry. Starting Monday I will be doing a Phase one diet by Doug Kauffman. Basically I will be eating meat, veggies and a tiny bit of fruit. I told my hubby we should do it for 6 weeks and then we can change to the Phase II diet where we can add in legumes, oats, etc. I look forward to seeing how it makes me feel....besides hungry at first! Thanks Dee for all your enthusiasm! I think it is great!!!!!!
  3. Would he agree to go to the counseling first, before you are fully back together? I know you are hurt, frustrated and tired....but don't give up. God can restore the marriage in ways you could never imagine! Divorce hurts EVERY party involved so much.... I will be praying for wisdom for you!
  4. (((((Darlene))))) I am praying for you!
  5. Thank you for your support!!! I appreciate that you just let me express my feelings. God is good...all the time!!! He will get me through!
  6. My favorite time of year would be spring! I just love the coolness of the mornings and daytime. The trees budding, flowers blooming and all the birds singing in the trees. I like summer only because we have a swimming pool to cool down in. Otherwise, I don't care too much for it. It's too hot where I live. Winter is kind of nice because it is cool and I love to snuggle with a warm blanket, drink hot tea and read or watch movies. I also like that we MIGHT get a LITTLE snow and rain. Fall....aaaaawwwwww.....the cool evenings and cooler daytime. I am so ready! I love to go to Oak Glen where they have apple orchards during this time of year. I enjoy being outside and taking drives partly up the mountain to see leaves changing. I am getting excited for fall already! But, I better hold on...we still have two months or more of hot weather!
  7. Oh boy....send him to So. California and I could introduce him to several christian single ladies from my church. Many of them are teachers too! hmmmmm!!!!
  8. Hmmmm! Too bad your bil lives in Florida and not in California. I know several wonderful single ladies here! Hey, I want to know what you tall people eat too! Then if I get taller I wouldn't have as much weight to lose! LOL!!!!
  9. MMMMMMMMM!!!!!! I just received the Mrs. Wages Salsa Mix and made some! It is delicious. Thanks Dee for the suggestion! It think it will be a hit in my house!
  10. Oh boy.... I pray and read my Bible...this helps me tremendously! I also like to swim laps in our pool. I just feel like stress and worries just float away. I also like gardening and cooking and coming to the Mrs. Survival website!
  11. This year has been a tough one for my hubby and I...not in our relationship but things within our families. First, my hubby's mom was in the hospital beginning in January awaiting a heart transplant. We really thought we were going to lose her and were preparing for that when God answered our prayers for a new heart for her. She received it March 4. I stayed down at the hospital with her for several days and came home on March 7 in the evening. Then the most "haunting" day of my life was March 8. I received a call from my Grandma who went to check on my mom. She called to tell me my mom had passed out and was cold. She had called the paramedics. I ran out of the house and drove as fast as I could to get there, but on the way I called back and was told my mom had died. It was the most horrible day I have ever had. I had to call and tell my dad over the phone (he is a truck driver) and my brother. None of the three of them had talked to me in a year....that's a long story! Since then, I have taken over my dad's personal finances, business finances and caring for the home including going through all my mom's stuff. I am still not finished...they have a big house and she had tons of stuff and wasn't so good at housekeeping. Well, March 20 my husband had a car accident and totalled our car. Praise God he survived the accident with only a concussion, scrapes, bruises and soreness. Then we thought we had a break for a while but on May 31 two hours after I visited my Great Aunt she passed away. My Grandma and I had to rush back over and sit with her body for 2 hours for the coroner. Then there was a feud among family members right after her death that I was the mediator for...how exhausting! I hate conflict!!!!! We are still trying to be the go-between to keep peace. July my favorite uncle passed away. He was the one that when I was a kid and an adult that I would ask advice from, listen to, and just learn from. I will miss him greatly!!! So, after being sick for 16 days...I haven't quite recovered. Now my emotions have caught up with me. I am tired all the time and not sleeping too well. There has been a lot of loss in our life....it's been bittersweet. All our loved one's were christians and so we rejoice they are with the Lord, but we miss them. So, please do not think I am asking for pity here. I know that this is a season in life. I just wanted to share that things do pile up sometimes and when things slow down a bit, I think emotions catch up with us. I feel bad because right now I don't feel like I have much to offer people and am too tired to help others. I feel so selfish! So, this adds to my emotions. Oh well....this too shall pass!!!! So, thanks for letting me "vent" my feelings here and forgive me if it sounded too much like a downer. I like to be uplifting to others and not bring them down.

    Dogs and Cats

LOL!!!!!!! That described my dogs to a T!
  13. (((((Darlene))))))) You basically took the words out of my mouth about how I have been feeling lately. I told my husband a couple days ago that I think this year has finally hit me. My emotions are going crazy. Sometimes when things just start to settle down is when the emotions have a chance to catch up, because when we are going through things we are trying to persevere, be tough, do the things that need to be done, etc. Afterwards, we have a chance to really "feel" what we have been through. At least this is how it works for me. I usually "pay" later, because I am too busy to deal with my emotions at the time. We will get through this time as well! Hang in there! You are in my prayers!
  14. Ohhhh... I would like to be healthy with my husband at my side. I would like him healthy too! I want to be able to get around, garden, swim, play with my nieces and nephews kids...if they have any, be involved at church helping other women. I want to be a person that people enjoy to be around and would want to come have tea with. I want to live everyday of my life for the Lord...never for myself...ooops, I know I have already failed there. Thank God for his unfailing love and incredible mercy.
  15. I got hot and the other one didn't say if it was mild or medium. So, I got some of both. I figure if one is mild and the other is hot, I could mix them and make medium! I think if we like it, I am going to do this for some gifts around Christmas time in a basket with other homemade goodies. I will let you know when I get it how I like it.

    Need a little help...

What I am trying to do is plan meals for the week with 1 fish, 2 beef, 2 chicken, and 2 beans or soup. This next week I hope to do the following: Sunday: Chicken (either on the BBQ or baked), with lots of veggies. Monday: Steak, with a salad, and red potato's Tuesday: Chili with no meat and Veggies. Wednesday: Chicken Fajitas. (Marinate chicken breast in lime juice, small amount of olive oil, pepper and crushed garlic overnight...cut in slices and either BBQ or do on the stovetop and add onions, green and red peppers). I usually serve this with corn tortilla's and a little bit of beans. Thursday: Spaghetti - We are on a diet where we can't have white flour, wheat, etc. right now. So, I checked with the doctor and they said Spelt Pasta is okay (of course in moderation 1/2 - 3/4 cup). Sometimes health food stores carry it but I purchased it online. We have a nice salad with this as well. Friday: Salmon (for my hubby) and Salad for both of us. (I don't care for Salmon much). Maybe some brown rice too! Saturday: Vegetable soup or something like it. I made some Oatflour muffins the other day that we could have 1 to go with it. I probably would have beans in the soup for protein. I hope that helps give some ideas. We just bought a freezer for the garage and have stocked up on free-range beef and some free range chicken. So, to make it all stretch that is why I set how many times a week we would have it. It is kind of expensive, so I am starting to have more beans, etc. to make up other meals. We are trying to lose weight as well as just be healthy in our eating. We have cut out caffeine, sugar, white flour products, wheat (my hubby is sensitive to it) and dairy. So, sometimes it is challenging. When I read your posts with cheese, my mouth starts to water. We haven't found a good soy cheese to supplement our diet once in a while yet.

    Introduction

MOgal: Wow....you have an amazing place and are so talented! I am sure I can learn lots from you! I think it is sad that we have to take so many precautions these days to protect our own homes, but glad you have been able to do that. I am sure you will enjoy this site and we will all gleen from your experience! Have a great day!
  18. Welcome Danny Lou ~ Glad you joined in! Wow, it sounds like a wonderful place you live. I am a homemaker with no children. (I know...I am spoiled!). We have 3 dogs. We live in a desert area....probably not as nice as where you live, but it is home. My husband and I were just saying it would be great to live on the ranch. Although I think I would have more fun doing things on it than my husband. I love to garden, bake, work in the yard. I hope you find this place "homey" for you!
  19. Dee: Thanks for the recommendation of Mrs. Wages Salsa Mix. I just ordered some and can't wait to try it. I read several reviews of it and everyone says it is good! Thanks again for the info!
  20. Cookie: You can be nosey anytime!!!! I have the first blossom on the tomato plants yesterday. Oh boy!!! I am so behind schedule. Usually we are enjoying the wonderful taste of fresh tomato's by now. I really like Westbrook's hint. I think that I will try that with whichever recipe I find. I am still trying to find that mix though too! Hmmmmm.... The tomato cages go around the tomato plants to keep them upright. That way when the tomato's grow on them they do not fall over. The ones that I use circle around the plant. They are great!!!! See ya!
  21. Oh congratulations!!!! I know what fun it is to be expecting babies to come in the family. My nephew was born 11 months ago and what excitement and joy to see him come into the world! Have fun with the wee ones!
  22. Darlene: I am praying for your dad and your friend. Please give us an update when you have one! God Bless you!
  23. Oh, thank you-thank you-thank you!!!! I did like the hint**hint!! See I am kind of clueless sometimes, so any hints will help me! I like storebought and fresh made, but I was hoping to have a lot of tomato's off my plants this year...but haven't had any yet. I kind of got a late start planting, so I will wait and see. I figure they will be ready to pick about the same time and I didn't want to waste any so I thought I would can them. I love salsa on baked potato's (instead of butter). I appreciate everyone's input, and will check out the websites. Dee: I have never heard of the Mrs. Wages, but I am now on a mission to find it! Sounds great (and easy). 24. The bank may have punched in the wrong numbers or debited the wrong account. I had that happen a few different times with other checks clearing my account. I don't see why that couldn't happen with a bank card too! Glad it worked out in your favor!
