  1. But Obama Care hasn't started yet.
  2. Bean Patties Take any leftover beans and mash with a fork. Add enough flour to bind. Shape into patties and fry both sides in butter or oil. This is good for breakfast or dinner in place of potatoes. It can be served on a bun with mayo or catsup for lunch.
  3. I just saw this on another site: It is called Bannock. 1 cup flour 1 tsp baking powder 1/2 tsp salt 1 1/4 cup water Mix together into a batter. May need a little more or less water. Fry in skillet with a little oil like pancakes. Will not brown as much as pancakes. Serve with butter and jam or jelly. Can also serve with syrup. Tastes pretty good! You can add less flour and make it into a heavy biscuit like dough that can be kneaded (not too much though), flattened and fried in a little more oil until golden brown.
  4. My prayers are with you, I lost my husband 2 years ago, I know how hard it is.
  5. I'm so sorry. May God strengthen you during this time. My prayers are with you also.
  6. I wish to thank everyone for their prayers and words of encouragement. My husband went to be with The Lord on Tuesday. Stacey

I'm glad to hear he's okay! That had to be scary!
  8. I freeze my flour and keep my oil in the fridge.
  9. Thanks, everyone! I appreciate it!
  10. As many of you know, I've been going through a rough patch with dh's cancer diagnosis and our financial situation. I've really been disappointed at how many holes I discovered in my preps, as I thought I was pretty well prepared. Well on another board I belong to, a poster stated, most of us live our lives close to the edge. It takes a lot more bad luck to knock someone who is well prepared over the edge. I have to admit, things haven't been rosy, but I haven't fallen over the edge due to my prepping. If this were the old unprepared me, I would have fallen to my death by now. Prepping has honestly saved our financial hides.
  11. I understand what you're going through. My prayers are with your family.
  12. Not everyone in my family appreciates low carb, so I stock up on everything. I stock white and brown rice (I freezethe brown rice). I stock Dreamfield's Pasta when it goes on sale, or I have coupons. I stock all sorts of whole grains, and I stock all sorts of beans. I also stock canned meats and tuna.
  13. I had a severe case of diverticulitis the other night that landed me in the emergency room. The doctor prescribed 3 medications befre sending me home. Two were antibiotics and the third was a pain pill. I was pretty upset because I knew I did not immediately have the money to fill them. Dh has been pretty ill this year with a hip replacement and cancer. His meds are free but I must pay for mine. Lo and behold, he had a surplus of two of my prescribed meds in the exact dosages I required. The remaining antibiotic is being dispensed free by my local pharmacy. I used to throw out any unused meds immediately. I don't think I'll ever do that again. I'm wondering if anyone here keeps their old prescription meds?
