  1. Thank you all. I have to admit...it feels like being home and trust me, i've missed it.
  2. I'm back again....believe me its been awhile. I have to let everyone know why. I left New mexico to come back to Wisconsin to take care of my husband, Frank. Well, I lost Frank 12/13/13 to a very short battle with a very aggressive cancer. I had to continue working to support my son (17 at the time). After awhile, I ended up running into a long time friend. We took the plunge and got married 1/1/15. I finally can get back to my prepping and enjoy life.

    Hello all, I'm back

I know its been a while and i'm sorry. Life recently has given my hubby and I a big swift kick in the butt. Hubby had be having some back pain and head aches among other things. I finally convinced him to go to the doctor and a week later we find out he has kidney cancer. The worse part is right now i'm in New Mexico and he is in Wisconsin (long story) needless to say I'm moving back to WI asap. The good news is he will be graduating on August 1st with a bachelors degree in software engineering...that was his dream. More good news, I have a job waiting for me in WI. We are going to fight this together and try to keep a positive attitude. Wow that was long winded. So what did I miss? Peg
  4. Walmart has Ozark Trail folding pocket knives for $1.00 in the camping section of the store. They seem to be good knives they are stainless steel with serrated blade, I think they will make great stocking stuffers.
  5. I just wanted to stop by and say hello, I'm back at least for a while. Peg
  6. hugs and prayers coming your way Peg
  7. I'm sitting here watching this show Doomsday Preppers on NTGEO....it just makes me shake my head. These people live in a house that is a bunch of semi trailers welded together(2 stories). Ok heres the thing...my dad has a semi trailer for storage of car parts etc. now keep in mind that we live in Northern WI that semi trailer is SOOOOO hot in the summer and of course cold in the winter. I can't imagine how in the world these people can live comfortably or safely in this "trailer castle". I didn't hear where they live, but it looked like a desert or hot area. I can see how their food can be safe or have a long shelf life if its hot. Just sayin...and what about the other 22 people that they plan to support, are any of them doing any prepping. I just don't get it...to many unanswered questions. Peg
  8. So this is probably a dumb question that I probably know the answer to, but do nitrile gloves really expire? I'm an emt and the amb service was throwing out a whole case of "expired" gloves. I know that they stay in the ambulances past their date, due to state protocol. Thanks Peg
  9. I checked with the school again today...it doesn't sound good for the ride share idea or the park and ride. I have decided that I am going to keep my head up and have a positive out look on this. One way to look at it is instead of listening to the radio, I can listen to my tapes of the lectures and with a little pre-planning I will be able to get all of my errands done so we won't use any extra gas when I'm not going to school. The good news is that I am the scheduling officer for the ambulance service I can bend the hours there around my school schedule, hello nights and weekends, but while I'm oncall I can do school work. I have to keep faith that little suffering now will pay off later. Peg
  10. Gas is up to $3.50 here in northern WI. I'm still a full time student, 2 more semesters left. Anyway, I have to drive 450 miles a week to school, DH actually suggested taking a student loan just to cover the gas. I have been looking for other, better options carpools etc. the only problem is I've checked with the student life dept. at school, they don't have anyone that lives around to ride share with. I love living in the sticks but I think this is going to hurt a bit. Peg
  11. I don't know if this passed yet or not, but this is a scary thing.....have you ever seen the movie Soylent Green? I can see that happening if this bill passes. Urgent - SB 510 Will Allow Government to Put You in Jail for Growing,Sharing, Trading and Sharing Homegrown Food Please pick up the phone and make the calls below against SB 510, the so called Food Safety Modernization Act of 2010!!! 1-888-493-5443 is free to the Congressional operator http://www.opednews.com/articles/Urgent--SB-510-Will-Allow-by-Lora-Chamberlain-100802-513.html
  12. What I did to save a penny or two....today I trade a very old car that we don't want or need to a guy (known him for years) in exchange for him remodelling my son's bedroom(lathe and plaster). Actually I was hoping to sell the car, but we had no takers so I figured that this was a good deal.
  13. I am so sorry for your loss, may the Lord comfort you. Peg
