  1. What I thought I heard on the radio was that they are considering $1,000 to $2,000 per family that makes less then $60,000 per year. I have no idea how they plan on funding that. I have no idea if that passed or not.
  2. I have been doing a lot of reading online lately (maybe good, maybe bad). I have seen tons of articles on fish meds for when the stuff hits to fan. I have also seen several youtube videos on the topic. I feel like in a survival situation it would be worth the risks. Opinions, please.
  3. I became a member in 2008 or 09 ish.
  4. All we can do is pray and prepare.
  5. We live in a deep valley so in order to see any kind of news or generally watch any tv we have to have satellite. We couldn't put up a digital antenna tall enough due to city ordinance. Anyway, I got our bill cut from $118 per month down to $35 per month. I can work with that.
  6. I have to agree with Jeepers. Get what you need now. I had that conversion with my daughter(26 and 1st time mom). I told her make a list and start stocking up on things. I feel like with everything going on, its not just going to be a medical emergency, but a financial emergency as well. The stock market has been going down, down, down the last several days. I think that sooner or later people are going to panic and there will not be anything left in the stores. We will be waiting for items that may end up being stuck in transit due to quarantines. I feel like people will go from passive to DEFCON 1 quickly and it will end poorly for those that are not prepared.
  7. I came here what seems like a life time ago and loved it. Then my husband of 22 years, passed away from cancer. This left me a sad, broken and a lonely single mom of a teenage boy. My "me time" became non existent. Money was VERY tight and things were rough. During that time my computer with all of my bookmarks crashed and I couldn't afford to get it fixed. I have to say over the next couple years things seemed to change. I reconnected with an old friend, found a better job and my baby boy turned into a man. He found himself a place to live and a good job. Well the friend that I mention later became my husband. We have been married 5 years now. So here I am, I found some of my favorite sites again which are now bookmarked on the new computer. I am soooo glad to be back. I have missed you. Peg
  8. Thank you all. I have to admit...it feels like being home and trust me, i've missed it.
  9. I'm back again....believe me its been awhile. I have to let everyone know why. I left New mexico to come back to Wisconsin to take care of my husband, Frank. Well, I lost Frank 12/13/13 to a very short battle with a very aggressive cancer. I had to continue working to support my son (17 at the time). After awhile, I ended up running into a long time friend. We took the plunge and got married 1/1/15. I finally can get back to my prepping and enjoy life.
  10. I know its been a while and i'm sorry. Life recently has given my hubby and I a big swift kick in the butt. Hubby had be having some back pain and head aches among other things. I finally convinced him to go to the doctor and a week later we find out he has kidney cancer. The worse part is right now i'm in New Mexico and he is in Wisconsin (long story) needless to say I'm moving back to WI asap. The good news is he will be graduating on August 1st with a bachelors degree in software engineering...that was his dream. More good news, I have a job waiting for me in WI. We are going to fight this together and try to keep a positive attitude. Wow that was long winded. So what did I miss? Peg
  11. I just wanted to stop by and say hello, I'm back at least for a while. Peg
  12. What I did to save a penny or two....today I trade a very old car that we don't want or need to a guy (known him for years) in exchange for him remodelling my son's bedroom(lathe and plaster). Actually I was hoping to sell the car, but we had no takers so I figured that this was a good deal.
  13. My most favorite books of all time are The Saggy Baggy Elephant by Kathryn and Byron Jackson and Tawny Scrawny Lion by Kathyrn Jackson. I also like the 2 Harry the Dirty Dog and Harry by the Sea, but I can't remember the author's name. And from when the kids were young, I like Where The Wild Things Are.
  14. I have been making flavored applesauce. I make the applesauce and just through in a pack or 2 of sugar free jello and process as usual. So far raspberry and cherry are the favorites around here.

    DID YOU KNOW

The Super Glue is a great idea. There is a "medical" version of Super Glue that the local hospital uses, but is not available to the common person to purchase (hospital use only). This version doesn't burn like super glue when applied to an injury, but I guess if you are bleeding that bad, 30 seconds of burning isn't going to make much difference
