  1. Still praying, and I hope things work out well however the tests and treatments go.
  2. So sweet to come in and see still another old friend posing an update. Becca_Anne, I have wondered how you are, and I'm sorry you have had difficulties and worries, but I'm happy to see your update. I continue to pray for everyone here, knowing God has each of us in His hands, so we can leave the details safely with Him. I can't seem to get the Emoticons to work for me tonight, but please consider yourself hugged and loved.
  3. Joining in the prayers for you and your friends and loved ones.
  4. Cat

    HE is risen!

I hope everyone had a calm, happy Easter Sunday. I'm just glad we're not getting the snow that's falling further South of us.
  5. We have a church-based food pantry nearby that will accept expired food items up to one year past it's date - and they are careful to explain to recipients that they ARE safe according to our government's own guidelines. And they can show them paperwork on it, to reassure them. So I have been moving some of my stuff there to help others and clean off my shelves. I don't cook the same since our youngest is at college, far away. We have been using Gossner Foods whole milk, which is processed and shelf-stable for years. We find it at the "everything is one dollar" store - Dollar Tree. I use it for just about everything I used to use grocery-store cold whole milk for. Not specialty stuff like half & half or buttermilk or cream stuff, though. Hubby bought a small case/ box of them, so we keep it in the cool basement and I've been using it up. There's somebody online who has a running experiment where she opens years-old boxes of the same stuff and Hubby says she has opened decades-old boxes of Gossner milk and says it is still good. Not sure I'd want to do that, but I really like having it on hand during the cold and snowy winter months.
  6. Joining in the prayers for you and for your loved ones.
  7. *SIGH* peekaboo! Life just gets so busy. Our youngest is getting ready to finish up her university years, but I guess she still has one semester to finish after this next one ends. She has an internship in a major company up near Chicago coming up, but I'm not thrilled about it being so close to Chicago, even though it's only a couple hours away from us. They have a protective, established program for their internships, but you all know how Mamas worry. I'm not babysitting the three grandchildren as much these days. The second-grader who I was with through most of his preschool years even told his mom that he misses being with me so much. Granddaughter just turned 5, and she's so much like her Mama (our older daughter). She thinks she runs the family, sometimes! But her parents are good and deal with all the kids fairly and well. And sweet little 2-year-old brother gets so excited when he sees Grandma that he yells "Read Book! Read Book!" and I have to tell him to go and get one for us. You'd think I'd have it all together, but I'm still struggling to do that. With just DH and I at home, I'm not cooking those meals like I used to. I'm forgetting recipes that I used to just know, as a result. It gets so frustrating. And now DH is trying to lose weight, now, so it makes it more of a challenge. I miss keeping up with everyone here. FaceBook helps, but it's not like it used to be here. How can we get back what we had, with regular interactions and helpful info? What do you need? What would you like? We have so much good information already here, that I wonder how I might help, any more. I do pray for all of us. And I miss you all. And here is where I break into song...
  8. WHAAAAT???? Jeepers wants to come to Indiana????
  9. I don't get here as often, but you are both in my prayers, as are so many others here. I just trust God to know what is needed for whom.
  10. KMart was dying around here a long time ago, and they closed the last "close" one to us last year. Sears lost us a LONG time ago, so I'm not really sad. It used to be the go-to place for good quality stuff, and you could count on helpful employees who cared about service and quality. They allowed this single female with a good job a credit account when it was still kind of rare, so I bought my first home's refrigerator there before I married. And it was the ONLY place my husband's family would buy appliances and other larger home products. Until they needed a new stove and couldn't find ANYBODY in the store who was willing to actually look things up and try to help them. My husband went with his Dad to help and came back very sad and upset, and told me how his parents and he would never again trust Sears for anything. And so it ended for us. Sam's Club was a surprise, though. What I was told is that Amazon has taken so much of their business that they want to recreate a similar model that will be online order & then delivery to the home. I refuse to allow home delivery of my food products. I want to choose what I buy, myself. I cannot imagine allowing a stranger to not only deliver, but enter my home while I am not there to put it inside. Crazy world.
  11. Joining the rest in prayers for the family and especially for her. But maybe knowing her loved ones now know Jesus will bring her some peace as she walks this path.
  12. I really do mean it. Events of the past few years in my "real life" have shown me just how much this forum and all of it's people have filled my life in far too many lonely places. Before FaceBook, this place was a place to connect, even when it's with people I may never meet in "real life". FaceBook now helps me by connecting old classmates and extended family in sweet ways that help me to feel like I have "real life" friends, too. I hadn't realized how lonely I really was, in my day-to-day life. I can talk easily to strangers, but people I know 'up close" are more difficult. Even church (a pushy female youth leader) hurt our youngest daughter, so we backed away from that church and tried to find another, but couldn't find one we seemed to fit into. Now DH and I have returned to that church, and it is better for us now. I'm struggling to fit in, as I always do, but it is better. Each of you, whether we "connect" much or not, are important to not only me, but to many others here. Don't ever discount that.
  13. Time marches on, and I have less time to come here and just play. But you are in my thoughts and my prayers, and I hope that you are in a place where you are safe, where you have "enough", and where you are loved. May this coming year bring you the things that money can't buy, the things that fill your heart with joy and with peace. God bless you and your loved ones. You are loved.
  14. Something I haven't "seen" yet. Do you have a link I can check out?
  15. Some look interesting. https://www.freebooksy.com/
  16. May your day be a happy one, filled with sweet reminders of just how much God loves you. I'm so grateful to "know" you, even if it's mostly here. Life gets so busy and I know I'm not posting as much, but I think of you all and I pray for your needs. I know that God knows what is needed and wanted. I hope your health is good, as well as your loved ones' health and well-being. Have a wonderful day filled with blessings that shine on through the coming days, too. You are loved.
  17. We are going to our daughter's home for lunch. She's doing the turkey and our traditional sides, but I'm bringing the home-frozen sweet corn and the pumpkin pie. It's just easier not needing to take the grand-kids out of the house. If they need a nap, time-out, clean shirt, whatever, it's all right there.
  18. THANK YOU! But now I'm wondering how somebody knew that my DH has been watching videos online about living in an RV!!! Even gave us a free book about it?????
  19. I have just noticed that I have suddenly become a MALE!!!! My husband will NOT like that!
  20. We celebrated our 33rd anniversary yesterday. So many years there was no extra money for flowers and cards. This time, he brought home a beautifully sweet card and a dozen perfect red roses. I am wonderfully blessed with this man of mine.
  21. It's a cat looking up, since the saying under my name is "looking to Him" And yeah, it's not really obvious, maybe?
  22. Did this get fixed, or am I just still able to see my own?
  23. I use my desktop. It's all different. It's harder for me to navigate, it says that I'm not authorized to chat, everywhere I look it is another puzzle to figure out. And I don't have as much time to play here, so it will take me a while to make it my new "normal Mrs S". I'll get there, but it'll need time that I don't really have right now. But I still want to be here, to connect, to help, to keep up with everybody here.
