  1. Here's a couple of freebies. Not sure how long they'll be free, though https://www.amazon.com/Rediscovering-Faith-Understanding-Nature-Kingdom-ebook/dp/B0051GN28U?_bbid=7527283&_ https://www.amazon.com/Choosing-Real-Invitation-Celebrate-Planned-ebook/dp/B01HHJIKBW?_bbid=7527328&_
  2. WELCOME! If Annarchy likes you, I do, too! *giggle* There is a lot of good information here, and if you can't find what you might want, please feel free to ask. A PM (Private Message) is an easy way, if you don't want to post out for all to see. Just click on the person's name and you'll find a place to "message". I'm not here as much as I used to, as life gets busy. But I still hang around because the hugs are sweet. These are my "people". Welcome, and I hope you enjoy looking around.
  3. Looks like it could carry Listeria. http://trucksusa.info/2017/06/29/alert-americas-most-popular-cheese-recalled-immediately-throw-it-away-it-can-kill-your-family/
  4. Now you're gonna have to PM me and tell me which "local" stores I can search to find this! Or maybe I'll just come kidnap you and we'll go shopping!!!! I haven't been over that way for a long time.
  5. WONDERFUL! Thank you! I got them for my own PC, but also sent on a copy to the grandchildren's parents for "right away!"

    Hello?

Any particular day or time that might be easier to plug in? Week days, or weekends? Evenings are often better for me, but I'm on Eastern time and that might be a problem for some, right? And hey, sometimes my afternoons are my "down times". And we could set up more than one time so that people have a choice. (Now I gotta figure out the chat and other stuff!)

    Hello?

Life gets so busy. I know that FaceBook has taken more of the time that I used to spend here, but it gives me a connection with old classmates, mostly, that I've missed. Not that I was ever close to them 40+ years ago, but it's been interesting to "get to know them" all over again as adults. But then I don't know if there's much I can do around here to help, any more. The vast amount of helpful information Is here, already, and things are just different. Any ideas on a way to reconnect and plug-in as a great group of friends here? Even the "chat" tells me that I don't have permission to "chat" here. Would it be fun to set up specific chat times again? Create special posts to pull people in to talk? I miss you.

  9. Things look different, and I can't do more than just peek in tonight because I have a lot to do, yet, but I'm happy to finally be able to get back in. Hugs all around!!!
  10. The house I bought where I needed that refrigerator was a Sears house. I had never heard of them until I bought it and found the blueprints still with it. I passed the blueprints on to the next owner
  11. Yup, there was a time when women REALLY had it harder with those kinds of things. Oh, yes, that's one of the reasons I really didn't enjoy going to Sears - I hated being pretty much chased through the store by the salespeople.
  12. Mt_Rider, it means a shift pretty much in name and "definition". From Wikipedia- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_Postal_Service I was the first female postal "foot carrier" in our town, maybe one of only several in our area at the time. 1978. Several of the guys, especially my "supervisor", really resented a female in what had always been "all male". Females in the office or rural routes, not a problem. But NO WAY could a "girl" carry heavy loads of mail while walking all that way! I was only 21. He would pick at me even in front of the rest of them, and even the other females dared not shut him up. But I was stubborn enough to push through even through active harassment from him. Through that job, I found my husband through the kind Postmaster (who they also resented because he was not from our town, had hired me, and was a Catholic, "not-like-us".). His son worked with my now-husband and they brought us together. I was carrying mail in knee-deep snow while our baby kicked every time I got back into the jeep to go to the next stop. My doctor said that he had no statistics on pregnant mail carriers on which to base my maternity leave. I finally just stated sorting the mail for my sub and then going home. I still like the Postal Service. I know it's not an easy job, and I'm grateful for having worked in it for the 7 years that I did.
  13. I used to dream of Christmas treasures from the Sears catalog, too, but I never got any of them. I think it would be fun to just look at some of those catalogs again. When I got my first "adult job" and bought my house, Sears at first refused to give a single female a credit card to buy a refrigerator. REALLY? I had been a mail carrier for a few years by then. But I challenged them on it and finally got it. I had to prove I had a steady, good job. Now everybody throws credit cards out for everyone. My husband's family were dedicated Sears customers. Nearly EVERYTHING came from Sears if it had any value. But Sears gradually cut back on their support personnel at the stores, and when they no longer were as helpful and a quick call to the store meant a frustrating "I can't help you", they lost pretty much all of our business. I am a little sad about it, but I figure their poor understanding of "customer support" and how valuable it was and is in this world of fast food and cheap foreign products has been their doom.
  14. Cat walks over to the closet - OH, my! How did the closet door get so much clutter in front of it? I can hardly see the door any more! Quickly the clutter is cast aside and the hinges get a quick shot of lubricant, just in case it's needed. Gingerly she pulls the door open... WOW! It's still there! Cat pulls the Party Machine from the closet... shaking the feather duster around and over it. *Whew*! Better grab the electric vacuum! Nearly choking on the dust, she cleans the settling dust away with the hand vacuum. OOPS! Better go clean out the lint trap, and then finish up. She goes to find the oil and then oils the appropriate places, works the dials and levers to see that they move easily. Plugs it in, and starts it up... Instead of the groans and grindings of the machine, we hear a calming, sweet version of "Lean On Me". Heh - somebody changed our machine's lyrics to say "sister", too. But then, we also use "brother" here. Colorful helium balloons escape from the top. As our friends notice and come to see what all the noise is, the party machine begins throwing out lots of glitter and confetti. The music gets louder. The tables are set with festive decorations and lots of fun, tasty foods and nicely displayed drinks. Oooh, sparkling apple juice, our family's favorite! Time takes a toll, and things change. We have other important things taking our attention, and our needs change as we've learned a lot, already. As I poked around in old posts, I saw many names I miss. But my heart still holds them closely. You are important, and you are loved. Maybe someday we can get and give those hugs, but just know that you will always have friends here. May 2017 hold wonderful surprises for you. May you always remember that God loves you, too, and His plans are for you. Rest in Him when life is difficult. And if you need a friend, we are here. Don't hold back, just let us know how we can help. HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
  15. I like this one. It's in my "someday" list. (Let me know if you can't see it. Photobucket gets more & more confusing. )

  17. So very sorry, Midnightmom. This world is getting so crazy. I thought first of Wormie & his wife, too. Why are people getting so desperately crazy? Prayers for you, for Wormie & his wife, and everybody else. God knows your needs, and I just keep praying that He helps each of us as we most need it.
  18. Last one is 50 Christmas recipes. http://www.bookbasset.com/2016/12/04/let-them-roam-free/
  19. Our son works with computers and internet tech and even he doesn't always know how or why stuff happens. Glad it's better again!
  20. Sorry that I can't help more specifically, but I tried to Google it to see what comes up. Maybe something in this bunch can help your specific problem. https://www.google.com/search?q=sound+issues+with+windows+vista+on+laptop&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8
  21. Thank you for all you do, and yes, it's fine whatever you choose to do. You have shown us the importance of searching this stuff out, and any link will help us. Rest, relax, heal, and know how much we love& appreciate you.
  22. OK, if you promise not to tell DH that there's a cookbook for bacon with 150 recipes, I'll share this link! http://www.bookbasset.com/2016/11/27/just-for-me-to-smile/
  23. Yeah, Jeepers, I've noticed that, too. I keep a wish list and a Grandkids wish list on Amazon. LilDD went to a friend's house for an evening get-together while she's home from college, so after I picked her up we went to a nearby-to-the-friend 24-hour store that was having sale prices until midnight. LilDD was wanting new underwear and bras, and they had sales until midnight, so we went. DH was talking about getting a new, warm blanket for our bed, and LilDD wanted one at home (her good one is at school), and they had sales on those, too. Ended up getting her bras that I had to return the next day for poor fit (late night they close their dressing rooms), but I got two new warm blankets for a good price, underwear for her, underwear for me (a GOOD price!) and a few other things. I don't know if I was more tickled at getting good undies for a buy-one-pkg-get-one-for-a-dollar sale, or that I now fit into a size smaller! We don't go all out shopping that much for Christmas. We try to get what the grandkids' parents want for them, but for the kids we usually get something they finally tell us the need, or just get an Amazon gift card. I already bought and delivered a set of stock pots BigDD needed We had so little money raising them, that they don't expect a bunch of "stuff".
  24. One here on retirement. Lots of other stuff. https://www.freebooksy.com/
