  1. Arby, nope. I do try to cook healthy and both his cholestrol levels, are good, his bad is down and his good is just a little down. I don't like to fry a lot of food, I'd rather stir fry, and I don't use a lot of fats and salt. Canned, I make it for him because believe me, it is easier. If he cooked for hmself, we'd run through all the "nice to eat" foods in 2-3 days and be left with nothing he'd eat. Any suggestions on different ways to fix beans where they won't get boring? Potatoes too?
  2. Okay, speaking of food fatigue, what do I do with a semi picky hubby who has low end diabetes (the type he controls with diet, no insulin, just pills), blood pressure has a tendancy to run high, needs no salt or sugar in his diet, and only likes beans, fried potatoes, mashed potatoes but is tired of them, meat and then salads during the summer. Only wants his broccoli smothered in cheese sauce, his white beans cooked with ham, and really doesn't like casseroles. He likes stir fry but only wants it once every 3 weeks or so. Meat usually isn't a problem, it's the veggies and sides that drive me nuts. He won't eat soups or stews, except for chili, and is tired of that. Every night it's the same, meat, some type of beans and some type of potatoes. Cooked the same way, night after night. arrggghhh!! Mini
  3. Midwest Prepper, they worked for you? I had a set that broke the first time I tried to use them. Momo, on one of my craft/garden forums they talked aboutt eh glibes, and said they were really hard to fill and got stopped up easy. That was one of my questions wheni first started seeing them advertised. Here's a good site that has customer reviews of most of the "as seen on tv" stuff. http://www.infomercialratings.com/
  4. Unfortunately, they are starting to pop up in stores across the way! Wal-Mart and Linen's 'N Things carry a lot of it now.
  5. More unnecessary products, in my opinion. All the crap that is sold on tv, infomercials, etc. Shamwows, magic putty, hooks, buttons, beeps, buzzes, boops, whatever. I will confess, I have tried a few things a time or two, and every time they have been crap. Every once in a while my mom will bring me some of that crap and acts like it's the greatest thing ever invented. I have overloaded my local Goodwill with it. Oh, one thing that did work though. Pasta pot with the holes in the lid to drain water. Now that was a good pot until the handle broke off. Cheryl
  6. I nominate all the single use whatevers. Need to clean your counter-- grab what is essentially a baby wipe with cleaning chemicals. Need to wash your face-- grab another baby wipe that has face cleanser. Same with the windows, sink, floors, cars, etc. It seems like the more some of us yell about our environment getting trashed up, the more these dang companies come up with this stuff! Cheryl
  7. About the potatoes. Actually, at first they started out cheaper than the regular non-wrapped baking potatoes. At least around here. When we would buy baking potatoes, it could cost us as much as $3 for 2, and they would be huge, and rather bland tasting. (I assume it was because of the monster size) The pre wrapped potatoes were 50ยข each, and the right size for a meal. Now, they are as expensive as the regular ones. And before anybody asks, we won't buy bag potatoes during the summer because we can't use them up before they go bad in the summer heat.
