  1. Hope everyone had a great Mothers Day! DS forgot about Mothers Day it until 8 pm last night when I got a frantic phone call. To tell the truth I didn't care. I'm just so wore out with DH's health issues. We spent every day last week with appt's and tests. He isn't having any pain but he is still weak and his blood pressure is way too low. His oxygen is getting better and his blood cancer is getting worse. We put out 1 fire and another one pops up. At least he hasn' t had to go back to the hospital. I still have a UTI that I can't shake..they have tried several antibiotics but it never goes away 100%. Maybe stress has something to do with it?? Summer arrived this weekend. We hit 90 degrees. So far it isn't humid but that's a comin' soon. Snapshotmiki, my DH was a heavy smoker for 50 years and now has COPD. He finally quit last February (2017) but he's still using nicotine patches. For some reason his oxygen is getting better but he'll never be "cured"
  2. Becca Anne I am so sorry it wasn't the best of news! Hopefully the defibrillator will make a big improvement for you.
  3. It seems like most of us are all going through the same type of health issues. Let's pass the booze and tissues around. lol Tomorrow DH finally sees a pulmonary specialist. It only took 5 weeks after getting out of the hospital to get an appt. Hopefully he can tell us why DH holds oxygen unaided some days and the next day struggles to walk 20 feet. It makes no sense. He also has to go to the family doc to see if his warfarin has got the right amount in his blood. If it weren't for doctors visits I don't think we'd have any social life. lol We are having a hard time getting any of our usual spring chores done. I tell DH we just need to be grateful to be alive. He is also having a hard time with his appetite. I hope we get it all straightened out soon. It's gonna be pretty warm the next 2 days. I don't look forward to summer. It's just too hot for me. I loved the puppy picture. What a sweetie. Hang in there ladies!
  4. Out of the ordinary, I'm chuckling over the wisdom of your 4 year old..LOL Miki it is frustrating trying to determine where the main problem is with DH. I know what you are going through..is it heart or lung or perhaps something else? I can only imagine all the paraphenalia with two oxygen tanks going MtnRider. One is bad enough. I tease DH all the time and play like I am pinching his air. He keeps his main unit in the basement and runs the hoses up the stairs. It works good for him. Annarchy my DH would go crazy if his heart rate went to 180. He starts getting concerned when it stays above 140 for a few minutes. That sounds so high. Ambergris to help make your mental image even better, you can imagine me with my back to DH who is driving his big old 1950 Ford 8N tractor and pulling me out with a big tow rope wrapped around my mobility (immobility in this case) chair. I always have preferred to laugh rather than cry..but I admit it was a bit frustrating. We are both having to adjust to health changes. Have a great weekend all!
  5. I hope to hear good health reports from everyone! It is so hard to deal with health problems. I did our taxes the last minute online. We don't have to file taxes due to low income but since I am on Obamacare health insurance I have to file the healthcare form every year. It's a pain but those are government rules. This week is beautiful weather but I can't get much done. I told DH only 2 tomato plants for the garden. He can't count on his health anymore so no big gardens. Yesterday I went out in my power chair and tried to water some bushes and plants. I got stuck in some damp ground and couldn't get out. DH had to get in the tractor and pull me out with a chain! I can hear you snickering, but it was kinda funny! I am thankful he was able to get me out and we didn't have to get help from others.( Three or four days ago he was still to weak to have been able to help me.) It's a new day, let's see what mischief I can get into today!
  6. We had lots of storms and even tornadoes around us last night but we were spared. The closest tornado was 20 miles away. We spent a few hours monitoring the storm so DH got to bed late. He was really tired today from his late night. Now we have a cold front coming through so I am glad we waited on the gardening. Our last frost date is April 8th but all of the trees are blooming already. Kappydell I love your beds..I wish you could help me get some done down here. One of my last best friends has died. It seems folks that I care about are dropping like flies. She suffered alot so it is kind of a blessing for her. Despite her fueding children it was a very nice ceremony and the preacher mentioned my husband first thing with a cute story. It sure surprised us.
  7. On March 20th Dairy Queen is giving away free soft serve ice cream cones. Check your local store for details.
  8. Spring has sprung around here but it is way too early. All the dogwoods and tulips are out in bloom since it has been warm, but we still have a few weeks until the last frost date. We have had a few inches of rain the past week too. Hopefully the sun returns tomorrow. I've been on cpap for 20 years. I need a new machine but can't afford another sleep study. They won't prescribe you a new one if you haven't had a sleep study in the past 5 years. Our dog had surgery too. Boy they can get expensive. She had a hematoma on her ear but is doing fine now. She is getting pretty old but this is her first illness/surgery. We found out that she also has allergies and they prescribed something I can't afford. I have been giving her OTC prednisone instead and she is doing great on it. Have a great day all!
  9. The only KMart remaining in Alabama is near us and they are closing by the end of this month.
  10. I'm glad you are getting settled in Kappydell. I don't ever plan on moving again. It is just too hard. Good news on your hubby Homey. It sounds like alot of us and our hubbies are needing "maintenance work" We got about half an inch of snow Tuesday night. Other nearby areas got alot more. Our temps have been really low with wind chills. Today it is supposed to get above freezing. YEA!! Our schnauser (sp) had a hematoma on her ear. We had to have surgery and I couldn't believe how much it cost. I really had to think about spending big money on her. We are on a very fixed income and she is getting old. On the other hand she is very sweet and has been very healthy so far. DH is crazy about her too. I told him that I would have to think about spending that much money on him if he got sick again..lol Have a great day all!

    Amazon

This time my problem is with Amazon. They didn't even ship the items for nearly a week. I know since I took free standard shipping it wouldn't be fast but I didn't expect it be so slow. I bought a book and a Fire tablet. The tablet took over a week and the book took 11 days. They came separately. BTW DH is thrilled with his tablet. He has been using my ancient laptop and it was taking forever. He only uses You tube to watch science type lectures and the Fire is great and fast for that. We are on a very tight budget so I appreciated the 49$ sale price.
  12. It must not be ALFAC insurance.... the ones with the duck in their ad I am tired of it being cold. We do have cold spells here every winter but they usually only last for a day or two. This one has been for a week. I dread my heating bill. Today we have no big plans but there are plenty of small indoor jobs (like cleaning and organizing) to be done inside. Maybe DH or I could get inspired to tackle some of them.

    Amazon

I must be the only person in America who is not in love with this company. My son says they have Prime and order over a $1,000 a month from them with no problems. The last time I ordered from them I ordered 3 articles and they came spread out over a 2 week period. All were delivered scattered at different places in our garage, front porch and barn. I ordered 5 things Sunday night with free regular shipping (not prime), According to my confirmation e-mail they have yet to ship a single item. Geez! Fortunately I was not counting on quick receipt due to my previous experiences.
  14. Kappydell I was hoping to check in today and see that you are all settled! What an ordeal. Your home will be worth it though. It is very pretty. I guess we are all pretty much having lots of "living" problems. Life can be so frustrating trying to get everyhing/everyone repaired, settled or set up. I for one can't wait for a better New Year. Jeepers your little man is so cute. It reminds me of my "little" boy. It's his birthday today and he is solidly middle aged now. Where did the time go? We have struggled this past week to get anything done. DH has been very weak. I hope it is temporary but I'm scared it isn't. Have a great day ya'll!
  15. You are so disciplined Snow! I don't know how you keep it up, but congrats.

    Quick update

I hope you get everything situated health wise. It can be a very difficult thing to get all the treatments and drugs set up just right. DH sometimes gets too much potassium which is not good either.
  17. This Friday is free shipping day for many online and or mail order gifts. Don't forget!
  18. I ended up making a rolled turkey breast so we wouldn't have too many leftovers. I also made cornbread dressing, gravy, pea salad, cranberry/orange salad, rolls and pineapple upside down cake. A combo of DH's faves and traditional foods. I also made deviled eggs, cheeses and an olive tray for a preview. Just the 2 of us and it was very nice.
