  1. You might need a science background for this one. Or, perhaps just a philosophical one. Schrödinger's Plates: They are both broken and not broken until you open the door.
  2. Riverdance has taken their show "on the road" for their 25th Anniversary tour!!! I don't think Michael is dancing anymore. I believe his son has taken that spot.
  3. A Chinese dancing troupe performs an Irish stepdance similar to "Riverdance." A brief 4 minutes of pure entertainment!
  4. The WMarts around here have a "scanning gun" at the check out registers, don't yours? Or maybe you didn't think to look? If they do, it's a good way to avoid those grumpy cashiers, etc.
  5. You have to be of a "certain age" to appreciate this one! @Littlesister See if your GS has any clue at all as to what this is. BTW - you're welcome for the "earworm" everybody!!! (I finally got the opportunity to use this emoji! )
  6. I never wore a face diaper (medical "necessity" - couldn't breathe with my nose obstructed), but most people kept THEIR distance from me. Being in a power (shopping) cart also helped to create the prescribed distance from other people. The most annoying thing was at medical facilities! "Can you please hold that mask away from your face/lips so I can understand what you are saying?" The dentist's office was the most "challenging" of them all. Not onely did they wear a mask, but they also had a full face shield on. (I can understand the face shield. After all, who wants pieces of decaying tooth projectiled at their face as they are "drilling" a cavity!
  7. I know! When I get in the car (or take transportation to doctors' offices) my right arm immediately goes up to my ear to turn down the volume on those babies! It greatly eliminates the road noise by doing so. I also turn them down when shopping, BUT, if I need to ask an employee a question or someone tries to talk to me I have to say, "Just a minute; I need to turn my "ears" up. ) And I am constantly adjusting them while watching videos, etc, online because not all of them have the best audio or the person speaking didn't have the gain on their mic turned up, etc. It's a good thing that YT has a feature that turns CC on/off. Unfortunately, some video creators turn off that feature. Sometimes I will try to "listen" anyway, but am not successful about 50% of the time. Their loss. (Revenue$$$)
  8. @Jeepers Even with my hearings aids I still prefer to turn on closed captioning because there are just some letter combinations that I still can't quite catch without seeing them as I'm listening. Have you ever misheard the lyrics of a song and never found that out until one day you decided to look up the lyrics and read them while the song is playing? It is the same way with some TV/YT videos, etc. I have a very difficult time talking on the telephone as I cannot SEE what they are saying to me. OTOH, sometimes the automatic captioning doesn't work well either and you can wind up reading some very strange stuff and going, "Huh???"
  9. @Jeepers So happy that you got to fill a cancelled appt with the ENT! I hope he can unblock that impacted ear and offer some hope for the other one. According to Dr. Google: Lisinopril is the generic equivalent to Zestril (generics usually cost less) Lisinopril belongs to a class of medications called angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors. It works by relaxing blood vessels and helping the heart to pump blood that carries oxygen to the different parts of the body more efficiently. "Fun" fact: Why can't you eat bananas with lisinopril? ACE inhibitors, such as captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, perindopril, and ramipril are designed to lower blood pressure, so if you take them while eating a lot of bananas you could inadvertently send your potassium levels through the roof which can lead to an irregular heart-beat. OTOH- "Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker. It works by affecting the movement of calcium into the cells of the heart and blood vessels. This relaxes the blood vessels and lowers blood pressure, and increases the supply of blood and oxygen to the heart while reducing its workload." Did you eat a lot of grapefruit when you were taking the Amlodipine??? "Having large amounts of grapefruit or grapefruit juice can increase the concentration of amlodipine in your body and make side effects worse." ----------------------------------------------------- Sooooooooooooooooo they both work by "relaxing" the blood vessels. I guess you could choose which one to take and which one to avoid based on whether you prefer bananas over grapefruit (or vice sersa)!!!

  11. @Littlesister You are being abused by everyone in your family, even the children (daughter) you raised correctly. Apparently no one in your family is going to stand up for you so YOU are going to have to decide when enough is enough and stop enabling them. Perhaps you can find an Al-Anon meeting near you somewhere. You need a support system that will help you break out of this cycle and is it crystal clear that your extended family is not it. I am so sorry that you are going through this, but if you remember, I faced a similar situation with my younger son. (BTW- he has finally come to his senses and has had himself in rehab for almost a year now. He's got his 9mo sober coin, and has moved to San Antonio, TX for the job opportunities there, etc, but he will still be attending some type of support group. BTW - his rehab costs have been covered by the VA - another reason for that GS of yours to get his butt into whichever branch of the military will have him.)
  12. If'n I was half the cantankerous woman that you are, I would be calliing every ENT in the area and explaining the "emergency" situation you are in to see if they could see me ASAP. Not only would I be sending them the pics, but I would be putting them on notice that they will be paying for the ENT and whatever medically necessary actions he takes to treat your condition - which is quite clearly their fault! What did I miss??? I thought his stove was working again and he had a job interview recently. Did he get himself evicted for non-payment of rent, or are you storing (temporarily) his belongings because he finall has a date for going to basic training?
  13. I'm just gonna' leave this here. @Jeepers @Littlesister If I remember correctly, aren't you two planning on doing some home improvement projects by yourself?
  14. The great thing about this type of video (voice-over) is that your imagination can take it to places unknown.................... and the results are usually just as hilarious as the original. Case in point: Talking Dog Neutered!!!
  15. As long as you're watching YT videos, take a gander at this one. I must admit I have no idea what the music is, but I assume it is/was a very popular tune at the time this vid was created. What is amazing about this video is the PRECISE synchronization of the film clips to the musical beat. I can't begin to imagine how much time and patience it took to edit all of these film clips together but the result is stunning and very entertaining. This one had over 20 Million views in 2015 and has been reshared a multitude of times! And now I present a challenge* to you: How many of the movies used can you name? Can you name the stars featured in each clip? * * * * Turn on subtitles to find out the film names.
  16. This video has made the rounds on YT for several years* now, but it is so funny that I still watch it every time it comes back up in my suggested videos. I hope y'all enjoy it too. (I had originally posted a re-share of the video but when I realized it wasn't the original I went on a search to find it. Here it is!!! *This was originally uploaded 12 years ago!!! It now has over 200 MILLION views!
  17. Arachnid Trigger Warning............................... Proceed if you dare!!!
  18. Wow! You've had a rough few months! Glad to hear you are on the mend. See you over in the other thread.
  19. Fermented cabbage (sauerkraut) tastes soooooooooooooooo good! It needs to be kept in the fridge though once it is completed. I am not sure you can "can" cabbage unless it is as sauerkraut - but then you lose the probiotic properties of the ferment.
  20. Ask around and see if anyone in your area does free landscaping as a "ministry" or just to be good neighbors. Lots of YT channels to watch and see what I am talking about.
  21. Hot Bacon Fat "Magic Vegetable Juice" Dressing 1/2 cup of bacon fat 3 to 4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar 1 tablespoon of dijon mustard salt pepper sweetener to taste (7 liquid drops sucralose or 3 tbsp granulated sweetener to start) Heat the bacon fat in a small pot. Whisk in the ACV, mustard, and other ingredients and pour it warm over the spinach. Taste first for sweetness. I like a lot of ACV and a lot of sweetener for more tang.
  22. I think that stems from the 50% solids content that I mentioned above. I might "rebel" a bit and jar up some shredded corned beef in a lot of liquid.
  23. If you are unsure that the seal is proper and not just "stuck" because of siphoning, you can wait until the jars are totally cooled and you have removed the bands. Then, tap the lid of each jar. You should hear a "high pitched" ping. IF you hear a "dull thud" they are NOT properly sealed and should be used or refrigerated w/in the 24 hr window as recommended by the National Center for Home Food Preservation. This is also the way you can check the jars you've had on the shelf for awhile to make sure they didn't unseal then "seal" again. I did this a few months ago and found several jars that "thudded." It was quite the experience disposing of them correctly and not letting any botulism spores out into the air. I think I posted about it back then - I will try to find the link and add it here. ETA Link: Soups Vegetable, dried bean or pea, meat, poultry, or seafood soups can be canned. These directions are intended for use with ingredients that already have separate canning recommendations for those foods. Also, jars should only contain up to 50% solids. (National Center for Home Food Preservation) I would try only one, or perhaps two jars just to make sure the BBQ sauce doesn't burn due to it's high sugar content. You can raw pack chicken and other meats! It's sooooooooooooooo easy to do. Just cut up the meat, stuff it into the jar, put on the lids and bands, and put the cold jars into cold water and then close up the canner and process for the recommended time for the size of your jar at your altitude. No cooking, no broth, no hot water - just MEAT! (It makes it's own broth) Selecting, Preparing and Canning Meat Raw pack – Add 1 teaspoon salt per quart, if desired. Fill jars loosely with raw meat pieces, leaving 1-1/4 inch headspace. Do not add liquid. https://nchfp.uga.edu/how/can_05/chicken_rabbit.html raw pack boneless/skinless chix breast Cooked (from raw) chix - aka: "Ugly Chicken"
