  1. Today, I am baking a stuffed (regular stuffing) turkey.
    Small pan of cornbread dressing.
Shrimp and grits dressing--this is just for me, no one else will eat it.
    Mashed potatoes with homemade gravy.
    Green bean casserole.
Thawed a package of Hawaiian rolls.
Yesterday, made a pumpkin crunch dessert and baked a frozen sweet potato casserole that was gifted to me.

I will give out some leftovers and we will have leftovers for weeks- some will be frozen.

FIVE inches, Miki?  That's a lot for you all, isn't it.  Hope you don't have any flooding issues.

That is a lot all at once!  No flooding at all.  That gets us about 1/3 of the way out of the drought.  Supposed to rain again, Sunday.  Probably not as much.  Thanks for checking!

  4. I'll walk in a few minutes.
DH has therapy this morning. Doc removed the staples from his hip, yesterday. Says he is doing great!
Next, will run around locally for a few errands. Fertilize flowers at Church, renew DH's handicap placard, stores for cream cheese and rug runner for DH, bank to put copy of cancelled deed in safe deposit box (YAY).
    Do laundry.
    Make pumpkin dessert for tomorrow.
Set up ingredients for a couple of side dishes for tomorrow.
Make a few phone calls and call it a day.

I do a running list and just keep crossing off and adding to it. After tomorrow, I’ll flip the page and start over with anything that’s not crossed off.

That is exactly what I do.  Works pretty well, but usually looks pretty bad by the time I start a new one.

  6. @Jeepers, my favorites are Willie and Louis Armstrong!  I've been enchanted with Willie since I first heard his voice in 1975.  Seen him numerous times, including at Ceasar's Palace in Vegas.  I have a great close up photo I got in 1984.  I was right up at the stage and he looked directly at me.  His voice and smile get me every time!

     Good morning!
Will walk in a few minutes.
    Appointment with home insurance agent.
    DH has optometrist appointment.
I'm going to lunch with a friend.
Handyman back to finish painting kitchen.
    I'm hoping that's it!

  7. I will be making a signature sandwich from a Pizza place I worked at in FL. Called a Big Frankie. Put deli sliced ham on a hoagie type roll. Top with mozzarella cheese and a small strip of cheddar cheese. Put under broiler for a few minutes to melt cheese and toast roll. Top with sweet coleslaw. It sounds weird but is a great combo! I made the coleslaw and we used to make the rolls fresh every morning. Great sandwich!

  8. I'm so tired from the shopping yesterday! A good part of it is my friend (or how I react to her). She has the beginnings of some type of memory disease. Repeats herself a lot and repeats the same thing every time we pass certain places. Her daughter is on vacation this week and doesn't live near her. After Thanksgiving, I will call and chat with her about it. Beforehand, I will ask my friend if she has had a memory test. Then daughter.

Handyman is coming to paint kitchen/ dining room today.
    Then I will walk.
    Walk dogs.
DH has therapy as they never showed up, yesterday.
Have a few odd chores today.
    Bible study tonight.

Took some time off the net.  Really needed to

I'm so glad that you are back!  Have missed you!

That's a lot of shopping @Jeepers  You reminded me to order a new gasket for my Presto.  Most (some) places down here say "have a blessed day".  It's nice to hear!

  9. I'm amazed that I got everything on my list done, yesterday! Rarely happens with a bigger list.

    Walked at 6:30 this morning.
Need to pick up friend and go to bigger town for shopping and errands. That was easier than listing 8 places.
DH will have therapy while I'm gone.
I hope you all have a good day!

  10. We went to visit DH's brother yesterday. He is in worse shape than DH. It was Dh's first time to drive since he fell. He is still doing well with therapy and getting around.

Today, I will walk first, didn't walk yesterday- raining all day and too lazy to do a video.
    Will walk dogs.
    Do Laundry.
Make dehydrated sweet potato slices for dogs.
Maybe get to finishing the Christmas cards I keep putting off. Now you know why I start early!

  11. Already walked.
Cleaned bathrooms at Church and swept floors. Straightened out hymnals.
Picked up my friend and took her to local stores.
Made up a gallon jar of white gravy mix, yesterday. Today, I will make a small amount. When we want flavors, I just add boullion. DH wants white gravy to go on the McGriddle muffins I made yesterday.
Need to package and freeze some of the muffins.
    Slice carrots for dog treats.
Work on getting Christmas cards ready to go.

I hate getting shocked, too!  I get out of my car and then touch the key on the door and it grounds out?  I'm going to try keeping a key in hand at the store and see if it works the same.  Folks will probably think I'm manic, but maybe...

  12. I've been exhausted since DH fell November 1st. Doing too much and can't catch up.
Will be raining in a few minutes, so not walking first-probably about 10 am.
At some point may walk dogs, weather permitting.
DH has therapy today- at home.
Still have to make Magus's McDonald muffins.
    Maybe finish Christmas cards.
I need to slow down and hopefully today is the day!

@Jeepers Even with my hearings aids I still prefer to turn on closed captioning because there are just some letter combinations that I still can't quite catch without seeing them as I'm listening. Have you ever misheard the lyrics of a song and never found that out until one day you decided to look up the lyrics and read them while the song is playing? It is the same way with some TV/YT videos, etc. I have a very difficult time talking on the telephone as I cannot SEE what they are saying to me. OTOH, sometimes the automatic captioning doesn't work well either and you can wind up reading some very strange stuff and going, "Huh???" :24:  :D

DH was told that his comprehension is down 40% since his last visit to the audiologist.  His hearing is the same.

"Bright blessed day...and dogs say goodnight. And I think to myself, what a wonderful world."

I heard Louie Armstrong say that for decades! It's "The bright blessed day, The dark sacred night."

I sort of questioned it but I actually saw a Lancome (I think it was) ad that had puppies running in a field. So, it must have been right. And dogs saying good night was so sweet. I could get behind that. And wouldn't that be a Wonderful World if they did! I still sing it that way.  :P

"Blinded by the light. Wrapped up like a douche another roamer in the night."  "Blinded by the light. Revved up like a duce, another runner in the night." (Manfred Mann version) It's about a car. Not personal care products.

Yep I do it. There are many more I've misheard but I was younger back then with no hearing issues. I mentioned the other day at Costco that I find myself reading lips now. She said that was normal and most people do it. I didn't realize I did it until my latest fiasco. When they were testing my ears I realized that I have major issues hearing men's voices in both ears. I couldn't make out the words. That might or might not explain a few issues in my past relationships.  :24:

The ants are my friend, they're blowing in the wind.  The ants are blowing in the wind.   LOL

    Walked first.
Fed dogs and put them in bedroom.
    Handyman here again.
May walk dogs if they go to lunch. Tomorrow should be raining.
Will write military friend as that hasn't been done.
Go to local bank after handyman leaves.
Make muffins if I have any motivation left.
    Bible study this evening.

  14. Yesterday was a rough and long day in town. Lots to do. Glad it's over!

    This morning, walked first.
Handyman here working on finishing window install, making 3 interior doors so they will actually latch and putting screens in a couple of bedroom windows.
DH's nurse should show up at some point.
    Will walk dogs after.
Hope to make muffins and write a letter to Military friend later.

I seem to just stay tired, lately.

Nurse was just here and says DH's hip looks great!

  15. Going to walk, shortly.
Then pick up friend with 2 cats to have spayed.
Will spend several hours in town waiting to pick up cats. Hopefully will get some things accomplished.
Once home, I will get DH and vote.
Catch up on what DH needs.

I'm tired. 4.5 hours sleep. Yawn

  16. Dh is still doing great (now with cane and sometimes walker). Had therapy today, but I didn't see her do much. Except vitals and records. Did a test to see how long it took him to get from dining room chair to living room recliner.

Yesterday was Church and walk dogs. Not a lot else. I was tired!

    Today, walked first.
Handyman here to install security screen door and replace kitchen window. They are still working on the window.
    DH's therapy.
    Did laundry.
Made a couple of calls for follow up appts. Hoping I'm about done, but we will see.

  17. DH is zipping around with his walker! We are getting set up for physical therapy today and will start Monday.
I'm really happy he is doing so well and is so motivated to get well!

This morning, I will walk first and pick up trash in Church parking lot on my way home.
Will clean baths and sweep house.
Next, make some maple sausage McMuffins I saw yesterday.
    Have some files to purge.
Water roses and set clocks back.

It's like some of you are being bull riders!  Mt Rider, littlesister, and Jeepers!  Hang on!

@Littlesister You are being abused by everyone in your family, even the children (daughter) you raised correctly. :(

Apparently no one in your family is going to stand up for you so YOU are going to have to decide when enough is enough and stop enabling them. Perhaps you can find an Al-Anon meeting near you somewhere. You need a support system that will help you break out of this cycle and is it crystal clear that your extended family is not it.

I am so sorry that you are going through this, but if you remember, I faced a similar situation with my younger son. (BTW- he has finally come to his senses and has had himself in rehab for almost a year now. He's got his 9mo sober coin, and has moved to San Antonio, TX for the job opportunities there, etc, but he will still be attending some type of support group. BTW - his rehab costs have been covered by the VA - another reason for that GS of yours to get his butt into whichever branch of the military will have him.)

    What she  said!
