  1. Umm, other than a station out of Paris I don't know. You could always called the Sheriff's Dept. and they could tell you or where to find out. DH and youngest DD went to town this morning, they made it fine but did have to take it easy. He starts midnights tonight so he wanted to get an idea on road condition's. Although since he'll be going in the opposite direction I don't know how that helped LOL! I'm not sure how long it will stay around but it sure is a mess here. I wouldn't mind just snow, but we started out with freezing rain, then lots and lots of sleet, then snow on top of that.
  2. How did you make it through the storm? Did you lose power? Our lights started flickering but never went out, thank goodness.
  3. quiltys41~We must be neighbors then, LOL! I'm in Benton county. It's looking like we might get some ice before we get some snow, ICK! I've got laundry going and DH just left to get the truck and gas cans topped off. I told him I want to be as ready as possible then maybe if we're ready, we won't lose power LOL!
  4. Hi Lilly! I'm from NW TN. In fact I just got home from doing some shopping in Murray KY a little while ago. I'm about an hour from Murray. The last I heard the snow was suppose to start sometime after midnight. Hmmm, wonder if we really will get up to some snow in the morning?!
  5. Mmmm, I bet that lily of the valley smells so nice. Yes, I love scented candles too. I'll have to look that place up. Thanks for sharing it.
  6. I don't mean to be a wet blanket, but actully I could care less! My DD's are grown so it's just not fun anymore LOL! Oldest DD wanted things for her house she just bought so we gave her money to buy her own Christmas gifts, now she can stop eating with plastic forks. Youngest DD wants a solid cedar chest for Christmas, no furniture stores that we went to or called had any. But one place did say they would try and get one in but it may be after Christmas. She said she doesn't mind if it's here in time or not so I'm not gonna stress about it. I would just as soon skip putting up a tree this year but I'll leave it up to DD 'cos she's the one that really likes it. I just really don't see the point since we aren't going to be wrapping gifts to put under it. And the extended family will probably be going to my sisters for our get together. DH and I stopped buying each other gifts several years ago and just pick out our own. Much easier this way for us! Don't know where my Christmas spirit went but it up and left.
  7. Turkey and dressing Ham (hoping SIL makes it so I don't have to) Mashed potato's and gravy Green Beans Corn Fried Apples Cranberry Sauce Baked Beans Deviled Eggs Veggie Tray with Dip Relish Tray Rolls (DSis will bring this) Whatever extra dishes SIL decides to bring Dessets will be many and varied LOL! I will be doing most of the cooking and baking for 30 something people here in my little house! We will be having our T.Day on Sat. instead of Thurs. since DH has to work.
  8. I "met" Fran on OCH a few years ago. I "met" Fran in person last Nov. when DH and I were in Chattanooga. Bless her heart, she took a bus, then a shuttle to get to the hotel where we were staying. We had a long lovely chat in the lobby then went to the hotel resturant for lunch and chatted some more. DH then joined us and we chatted some more!!! Afterwards we drove Frannie home and visited with her for a while and met her cats and saw her apartment. She seemed very happy there and liked to sit where she could look out on her patio. She was such a sweet lady and I feel blessed to have known her. May God comfort her family and friends.
  9. Good morning! Here in NW TN the sun is out and it's a beautiful morning. My DH and DD have gone to Nashville today so I'm hoping the weather there isn't too bad. Ivan stayed just east of us, although we did have some winds out of it yesterday and last night. I hope all are safe in the path of this storm. Have a great day all!
  10. I'm really leaning toward a food basket type gift and probably books for the kids. I've always loved to read so I've always got books for the kids to encourage them to love reading also. I found a neat little book store in Pigeon Forge that has some great books very cheap. DH and I usually go in Oct. each year and last year I got some great deals. I bought sevral copies of The Small One by Alex Walsh and Jesse Clay, The Prince of Egypt by Walt Disney Publisher, and a few other's (can't remember the titles, but popular books) all hardbacks for $1.00 each! The kids loved them!!! I hope I'm as lucky this year.
  11. I'm having a quiet, peaceful day so far. DH is at work, the DD's are doing some work at DD#1 house and I'm being a little lazy today. Peacefulhome~ Oldest DD and I love Sharyn McCrumb and yes I've read Ghost Riders. We look forward to each new book. I bet that did seem strange to see those people walking along the highway. Hope you all have a great holiday!
  12. LOL@Cat! beeber is actually a nickname I got when my youngest sister tried to call me Debra, but it came out as beeber LOL! Some people thought she was calling me beaver!!! Yep, I think the weather had a great deal to do with our garden not doing well. We had so much rain we had to keep replanting etc. Thanks for the welcome!
  13. Snowmom~ I'm so sorry to hear that Frannie isn't doing any better. I was so in hopes that she would have made some improvments by now. Very sad.
  14. Oh thanks y'all! You've all got some great idea's.
  15. Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! A little bit about me: I'm 46, married for 27 yrs. (will be 28 on the 17th of Sept.) to my best friend. We have 2 DD's, one will be 26 on the 10th of Sept. and the other is 22. DD#1 is a teacher and is teaching 2nd grade this year, DD#2 is starting her fifth and "final" year of college today. She is getting a business degree. We live on a farm and raise beef cattle. I stay home but DH works off the farm. We also keep chicken's for eggs and meat, have 2 porch cats, 1 indoor kitty that will be moving with DD#1 soon as she has just bought her first house on Friday. 2 Great Pyr's, Sugar and Sassy (where my username comes from) that I just adore!!! We always raise a garden and I can, freeze and dry, although not much of that going on this year since our garden was a big flop. Thanks again for the warm welcome!
  16. I'm hoping to get some ideas for Family Gifts for Christmas. DH and I have always shopped for the little ones in our family's but there's getting to be sooooo many of them it's gotten out of hand. So this year I was thinking of getting family type gifts and slowly kind of phasing gifts out LOL, but I'm at a loss on what to get. I'm not the crafty type so that won't work . Here's my problem, I would need 3 gifts for children ranging in ages of: (1st family) 9yr. boy, 5yr girl, 3yr boy (2nd family) 4yr boy, 3yr girl, 2yr girl, 9months girl (my neice has been very busy LOL) (3rd family) 3yr boy, 9months girl I would like to stay under $20.00 per family but I'm coming up blank. All ideas appreciated!
  17. I'm not sure I understand, do you use several of these as different rooms? Seem's very small for living in just one.
  18. Hello everyone! My name is Deb and I've been lurking around reading for awhile and thought I would join you. I see some familar "faces" from another board I'm a member of, Hi there neighbors!
