  1. Supper tonight is gonna be sloppy joes ( using ground venison and hamburger buns that I got from the day old store) and augratin potatoes made from potatoes that I got on sale and dehydrated. Dessert will be some Amish friendship bread. YUMMY

Hubby will take the leftovers in his lunch tomorrow!!!!

I have started challenging myself to see how little I can spend on meals and still eat like we are used to. It has been a fun and challenging personal game that has helped me save a lot of money

  2. We stay low by hunting for the majority of our meat. I Hardly ever buy anything unless it's on sale, then I stock up by the case. If you eat a lot of meat, consider getting a half of a beef at a time, it really is a lot cheaper in the long run. I have started stretching our budget by adding in more side dishes and lots more beans. A small steak with three side dishes will fill up most people.

  3. We had so much fun!!! It is awesome to meet someone after all this time of talking!!! I didn't tell her the funniest thing from the whole weekend, she called to let us know they were almost here, and hubby answered the phone and was talking to her, then he handed the phone to me, we talked and I hung up. Hubby sat there for a minute then said, I couldn't understand a word she said. 24.gif24.gif And here I thought we had an accent0327.gif24.gif24.gif

  4. I have always cooked mine first too, but i am specifically wondering About canning bags of 15 bean soup. I don't know if I could can it fixed by the recipe nor just plain. The recipe is onion, diced tomatoes, chili powder, garlic, lemon juice. I would add the meat when I was heating it up. What do you think, could I can it by the recipe or should I can it plain like I do all beans??? Thanks so much

  5. Went to an estate auction. Got big boxes of screwdrivers, sockets, pliers, hammers. Each one with over 25 pieces in it for $5 each. Got lots of shovels, rakes, etc for $2 each. Got a really nice craftsman toolbox, one of the tall ones with drawers for $45. Got four ice chest and a small assortment of misc for very cheap also.

Picked up my half beef and have it it away. So glad to have that here in case any thing goes wrong soon

Going to order a hog or two next month, then we are good on meat for the winter!!!darlenedance.gif

  6. Went to goodwill today. Got a ton of stuff!!!

I got 15 pair of name brand jeans for me for $3 eachA pair of brand new walls coveralls for $1215 sweaters for $3 eachA beautiful "fur"trimmed dress coat for $11A couple of lighter jackets for $4 eachA big box of scarecrows and pumpkins for my obsessive collections!!!

Since I have lost so much weight, I am finding I can get what I need at goodwill so much cheaper than anywhere else!! Whe you have to replace EVERYTHING price counts!!!

  7. My yorkie is "special needs" also, so I completely understand!!! When he was a baby he had parvo, then as soon as he was over that he started throwing up, he could keep nothing down. He went from 14 pounds to three pounds while the vet was trying to figure out what was wrong. We started having to put a tube down his throat to feed him. They finally decided his throat had closed off (strictures). So he had a feeding tube placed up of his side. Like in an infant. I had to feed him every four hours through that tube. After a year, his throat was not so tender so we had the tube removed and he eats only liquids. I make his food each morning and he drinks it through out the day. He is five years old now, and willhave to do this for life, but he is fat and sassy so I don't mind.

Our husky was recently diagnosed with skin cancer on the bottom of his foot so they had to remove his leg. He has healed nicely and is doing fine. The cancer was in the lymph nodes, but he has made it nine months so far.

We had him at a fair the other day and I took some great pixof a little girl cuddling him she had cancer and had lost her hair. Talked to her about him having cancer too. It was a very special moment that I will never forget!!!

As you can see, I totally believe in taking care of animals no matter what. I think I learned that when my dog went blind that I had as a child. She lived bling for six years just fine!!!

  8. On a canning page on fb I belong to, people are talking about dry canning hamburger meat. I promptly tell them that it's dangerous and not an approved way, and they jump all over me about how their grandma did it this way for 40 years and how it is fine and another lady starts quoting the CDC. (really--the CDC) about how it is ok if you boil it first, so I say, why do something that is so dangerous you have to boil it, and then I get a real earful!!

I will just let them do what they want, thank God for violet!! I know she probably gets tired of the same stuff over and over, but at least I know the way I do things is safe!!!bouquet.gif
