    Soap Making

Somehow I knew if anyone started posting in the soap forum again, Grubby would nudge me along again. lol. I still haven't found the time. I have all that I need, even have a few recipes from here and Miller's soap, but I need TIME.
  9. I use the rxlist that Darlene posted at work all the time, it's a really good site.

I bought a bunch, and I mean a bunch, of coconut oil while on vacation.... it sure is cheaper in the south. I'm waiting for class to end the first week of august and then I have a couple of weeks off and I'll make my soap. I think I want to try scenting it with orange and ginger (that is the scent I usually wear). Would essential oil or fragrance oil be best? and any idea of how much, since I haven't seen an exact recipe for this scent.
  13. I just finished 4th of July by James Patterson. I thought it was good, as usual.
  14. "Reduction surgery", hehehe, hahaha, hehehe, just too funny.

    Soap Making

Well, I guess I should have made my soap first.... I have been digging in my "new" garden.... I dug up an 18 ft x 6 ft area (by hand.... the tiller croaked)and I am covered in dirt.... it would sure be nice to have a bar of soap.....
  17. Nope... can't say that I have. Even with eight legs, it would be hard to outrun a gator... truthfully, I'm even afraid to go into the reptile house at the zoo Silly question for Cat: Have you ever been to KATmandu?

Okay, I found coconut oil.... is this a good price $12.39 for 15 oz.... My local health food store has it, but it seems kind of expensive and since I have never bought it before.... well, maybe it normally is expensive.

I still can't find coconut oil. My Walmart isn't a full grocery store so they didn't have it. I might ask my local (very little) grocery if they can order it for me. Slgrubbs.... I read somewhere that when you buy soap at the store you should open the package. This allows air to flow and the soap to dry further and therefore last longer.... don't know if it is true or not.

Well, I went shopping and I couldn't find that Velveeta mold, but then I got to thinking that I have some other plastic (both tupperware type and the Ziploc type) of containers, would those work? They are square, deep enough, and wide enough for bar size soap... my question is would the soap mixture melt it? Also, where did you guys find the coconut oil? I looked last night at my large grocery store and didn't find any. I thought it would be near the regular cooking oil or with the popcorn Help.....

I'm still in the thinking about it stage...hahaha I do have a question for you ladies who are making soap though.... What kind of mold do you use? I'm not really into the fancy little soaps, like guest soaps, I want a bar and I can't seem to find anything around here in the stores (specifically for soapmaking). I was thinking some kind of a pan, dish, something like that. What do you think? Slgrubbs, I will probably try Unikemom's recipe too. I'm glad to hear it is just a small batch.
