  9. i never tire of seeing this. i'm bumping this up because of swine flu!
  10. i do this to immediate neighbors!!! ha ha!!! but i do it to bring down my carbon footprint, and monetary expense. however i have never taken anything from their trash.
  11. As a stand-in scoutmaster, you taught your son's troop to set mantraps and punji pits, and haven't been asked to stand in since. i plan to do something more sheeple but similar in my dd girl scout troop when she's older. You have food in your pantry for people you rarely speak to.. including things you know they like to eat but you do not. i already have plans for a certain neighbor whose one child is the same age as mine.
  12. WELL, Borrowing from the idea here... we bought an envelope of seeds. they have 65 in them. we prepared an area for them to be planted today. tomorrow we will plant them.
  13. i stayed local. i didn't go to disneyland. i didn't eat out. i didn't stay in a crowded room where someone could be sick. it's expensive to be sick. it's deadly to catch the swine flu. sometimes, the best way to save money is to not do something. for us it's staying away from disneyland. when dh and i first got our annual passes i ended up getting preggers three months later. i gave birth the day before our passes expired. the same thing happened to my sister a few months later. she got her pass and then got pregnant!! talk about running in the family!!!
  14. big boy toys such as hand held games, arcade games, nintentos, play stations, xboxes, etc... it's a waste of time and money!!! the generation today is growing up STILL playing these games. when i was young i played my ATARI for one year and then i got tired of it. it's a time waster!!!!
  15. i understand you simply add water, shake and bake.
  16. i saw the brief safe on another site. it even included brown stains!!! eeeewww
  17. old medicine bottles. only my dh saw me put it there so now i need to put the $$$ somewhere else!!!
  18. here is what i do to save money. now that my daughter is practically potty trained it is no longer necessary to use a full baby wipe on her. therefore i am able to divide the sheet up to four squares. for my own personal use i do similarly. however there is always one week where i can not and should not use only one fourth. when you open a can of tuna save the can. why? i found this in frugal living thanks to HILLBILLY HOUSEWIFE. out of electricity, gone camping, batteries are out? use that empty can of tuna to help light the way. pour a little oil in there. cut a thin strip of cloth and put it in the oil. leave a little slightly out after dipping; then light the cloth. i tried it this works. only i ended up cutting a soda can in half. well a tuna can would work better because you don't have to worry about jagged edges.
  19. consider starting a bartering system. YOU make the profit from those who were foolish enough to not be ready. personally i think everyone should have one vegetable growing in their backyard. and one fruit tree, as well. i also think vocational/adult schools can teach a course in self sufficient living. that would be a good name for it. under it would fall ecology, survival, roughing it, etc... what do you think?
  20. i myself will be gardening for the first time in my life. i'll be growing tomatoes and beans.
  21. i have done the baking soda wash. i wash my 3 year old dd got her hair and body washed that way because we RAN OUT OF the item and then money. washing with baking soda is easy!! everyone should bulk up on baking soda.
