  1. be sure to post pictures soon as it gets dry enough, my husband is going to cut some planks to make raised beds in my garden. We made a garden out of our money sucking swimming pool. My problem this first year with it was, well, rain. Although i made sure i made holes in the pool floor, it still held water. It turned the pool into a giant quicksand trap. This summer we've added more dirt and you can now walk on most of it when its wet. Over the comming winter i plan to keep adding dirt and planting everything in organized raised beds. It didnt rain early spring, so i had lovingly planted everything i wanted to try. After that, it rained, and rained. Killed most everything i planted and kept me from planting more....

Just some of my artwork, i dont really sell it, i just make it.
  3. Yes, i'm a mosaic nerd. I'll see if i can get a picture of the fire departments i did, its the best one i've done. The picture i have posted is when i was working on it.

  4. Do you do your own mosaics? Need more photos...lol

    I love mosiacs.

  5. Thanks for the input.. My garden was such a disaster this year, i'll for sure do the barrel thing next year.
  6. When you grow them this way, does it matter what time of year they are planted, can a second planting be done?
  7. The cashier at walmart in chitchatting while running my stuff through, mentioned that someone just came through her line and told her about growing potatoes in a barrel. I didnt listen word for word, mainly because i can search it on my computer and probably get the same directions with pictures. I find this interesting, mainly because its so wet where i live in the spring. Potatoes suffer. She explained that most of what is in the barrel is hay, so, the potatoes are clean and dirt free. She said she was told you just dump out the barrels contents and you've got a big pile of clean big potatoes.... So, has anyone here actually done this?
  8. From the album: artwork

  9. It says on the box, holds 7 qt, 10 pints, 12 half pint mason jars. Any bigger and it wouldnt fit on my cooktop, its a very confined area. Since i no longer cook for a army, family of 6, downsized to 2 now, i dont really need quanity, just looking for home grown things of our own.
  10. I read this whole thread, after the fact. I went with my theme song "If its good, walmart would be selling it". I bought their Presto 16 Qt, the one with the weight thingies. It looks all strange to me, i've water bathed foods, but never pressured them. I'm like a few others here, anything pressurized scares the heck out of me. I do this squinty eyed face that the thought. But I'll be strong and as soon as my tomatoes start turning, you can bet i'll have this puppy set and ready.
