  1. Miki so glad Peanut Butter is doing better. Jeepers 2 months seems like a long time but in the construction world these days that's fast! I hope you can get a good price for it and get to your new home soon. I am sure you are more than ready to put all this behind you. The RSV is just newly available for babies and older people. I wish I could get one I got extremely sick with RSV pneumonia in 2017. Almost had to be admitted my 02 level didn't want to stay up. I do not want to get it ever again. Have had the other pneumonia shots and have been healthy since then. In my life my lungs have always been my weak spot. Littlesister hope your GS gets well soon. All 3 chickens were alive and healthy when I went out this am and no sign of anything disturbed. I had a training I could work and listen to at the same time today so organized some of my craft and office supplies while I worked, so it felt like a productive day
  2. Big day here the chickens went back out to the coop/run. It has been secured as well as we can get it. I'll wait until spring to replace the lost chickens and hope for the best. I am a bit concerned with only 3 that they won't be able to stay warm enough this winter. I wanted to wait until I'm really sure before adding any new chickens and thought I'd get some more chicks in the spring to replace the ones I've lost but if I need to get more to keep them all warm I should get them now so they will be fully feathered to go out before it gets super cold.
  3. Productive day today. Worked on tidying up back porch and entry in the front. Ordered a coat tree with umbrella stand as well. Going to put that in the vestibule so everyone can keep the outdoor items out of then nice spaces. Vacuumed the entry mat, and moved the boot tray into the vestibule. So my foyer is now shoe free I also moved the bag of potting soil down to the basement and the garden tools to the back porch. I want my front entrance to feel more normal which it does now. I need to source some antique matching square blue tiles to repair the tile in there, but until I can get that done the mat covers the broken/missing tiles. Also got outside and weeded/lopped off weed trees in one area of the yard when I went out to water the apple trees. They are holding up really nicely didn't lose any leaves so I think they are going to make it since we are out of the worst of the heat
  4. Wishing you a most special Birthday!!
  5. Annarchy that ramen looks delicious! Mowers can be such a pain glad you were able to get it to work for you. I'm hopeless with machines like that. I already know if DH can't do it I'll have to hire it out. Mt Rider glad you're starting to feel like you are improving. I have to bake a treat to take to my Quilting guild meeting for tomorrow but other than that my day involves paperwork for my new business and work for my actual job. DH is going to go buy the supplies to build the new run. Don't think much else is going to get accomplished today
  6. Thank you for letting us know Sygnet He will be missed
  7. Miki so glad you are done with the lithotripsy! Rest and hopefully that resolves the issue for you! Mt Rider glad you got treatment for your cough hope you feel better soon! Jeepers hopefully the vent passes the re-inspection, probably a minor fix and hope that's the last hiccup for your reno Littlesister sounds like you're making progress Today was a better day, Chickens are in my basement, DH is figuring out how to build a different run inside the carriage house (It is on concrete so I know they can't get under). Will be anchoring it to the inside wall of the carriage house. So no external walls for any critters to find an entrance into the run. Going to put two key locks on the door at the top and bottom to make sure no critters can pull or push the door open, put hardware cloth across the top of the run, and then beef up the nesting box locks (hasp lock with a key) on the coop inside the new run. If that doesn't do the trick nothing will. But poor birds are in a large dog crate until it's done. I rigged a small water dish in the door using a bento box style lunch container that I could mount on the door frame that isn't able to be knocked over. (this morning came down to an ungodly mess of water and feed and poop). Hoping less of a mess in the am this time. When he gets it done these chickens are all getting baths before I put them outside. I feel really awful about this. Eventually they will be able to go on the grass part of the day but for now they are inside birds.
  8. Miki will be thinking of you and wishing you a smooth lithotripsy procedure!! Jeepers so glad your inspection passed and you figured out the sunshield for your car. Littlesister glad you are taking a rest! Don't want to get overheated. I'm sad, we lost another chicken. I've got the three remaining ones in a dog crate in the basement overnight while we figure out what else we can do to try to secure the coop/run.
  9. Jeepers hope the inspection passed! Miki glad you can take something for the pain. And hope your lithotripsy happens on schedule! Littlesister hope you can get your canning jars/supplies organized how you like. I need to get mine in more organized fashion as well I have jars in one place, lids in another, the canners in 2 different places and the accessories in another place. They really should all go in the same area so I can find them. Project for fall once I've got more time. Back to work today after a long break, feeling really down today though. 4 chickens still in the coop today though so hopefully they will stay safe. DH went out with me to look at the fortifications we need to make. More hardware cloth for sure. And I think I know how they got in now so fixed that. We'll see depends on how big it is there is no way to secure the building I have the coop/run in 100% but they are not in the run at night now so that hopefully will help.
  10. Oh no Miki so sorry you got hurt I hope it feels better soon! Jeepers enjoy the GoPro please let us know how you like it. I've thought about getting one Littlesister glad your GS likes his part time job. Sad day here today. Went out to the chicken coop and something (probably a racoon) got 2 of my chickens. My favorite pretty Easter Egger and one of my Buff Orpingtons. I thought i had it secure enough but I guess not. I just feel bad that I let them down.
  11. Spent the day mostly doing laundry. Got DH to move the big tool chest with drawers from the shed to the back porch. I'm tired of tools all over the house that never get put away. Have a plan to put just the ones we use often there, and the ones that are used less frequently like painting supplies and plumbing supplies in bins in the basement. No one ever seems willing to go back out of the shed to put things back, but if a project is in the works, we can pull the bin, do the project then put it back and since it's in the house it will be more accessible in bad weather or the heat. Hoping this will keep my art room free of tools
  12. Jeepers so glad the inspection is happening for you! Littlesister Hope the extra work helps your GS pay his bills and he gets that license updated. Watching young people struggle to adult is hard. Got 4 eggs today so my girls are starting to earn their keep. We have a full 18 egg carton and a half now, will make Quiche tomorrow to freeze and hardboil some
  13. Thank you Miki I think that should work just fine, adjust amounts to taste works for me Jeepers you are making good progress even if you think you should be getting more done. Babysteps will get you there! Littlesister hope your knee starts improving. Life is always a bit more challenging with an injury like that. Have one mission today, going to sand and seal the threshold for our front door today. We had that replaced but they didn't seal it and I want to do that before winter is here!
  14. Littlesister I should have been clear this is with my 26 yr old son who has yet to find a career path and is on the autism spectrum, but yes I will teach Ben as well. Ben already has his own YouTube channel so he can probably teach me a thing or two
  15. That's great news Jeepers so glad that $ is off your account! Miki would you share your coleslaw recipe? I want to learn how to make it. Littlesister that's neat I never knew there were more than one type of praying mantis! Momo so glad it's cooling off for you! It was a bit cooler here today as well. Ambergris I'm sorry you're dealing with puddles. Not sure what options they have there but I have my dog trained to use a pee pad in a dog litter box. She is so tiny it works for us but I know with a bigger dog you may just have to wait until she's mature enough to hold it at night. The mosquitos have become relentless every time I go outside. I need to get that "tiny pond" aka stagnant water/mosquito breeder off my property. I have tried the mosquito dunks but they are clearly not working. I had 6 of them on my hand when I noticed out in the garden and I was only there a few minutes. The project list just keeps getting longer. I spent my day yesterday and today working on home business plans. I bought a website and set up an LLC corporation (I used LegalZoom) and I'm going to learn all the things. It's an investment to teach my son how to do websites and SEO, and affiliate marketing and hopefully to set up an online shop. He just isn't finding his own direction so I'm going to at least insist he learn this with me, along with taking an online class. I also am hoping I can get my husband back up and "working" a few hours a day. I am not expecting much just hoping to have it pay for itself and give him something to put on his resume. But you never know It even comes with it's own YouTube channel so I'm going to learn to do that too. I like to learn new things so it will be fun if nothing else.
  16. Littlesister glad your GS got into his new apartment. I hope he does really well there. Jeepers I hope your ins company does the right thing but I'd be looking into a lawyer soon that is a lot of money. Kappy that is terrifying dog packs like that can be so dangerous glad you have the support of the local officials to protect yourself if needed. Hopefully the owners will keep better control over their dogs Miki hope it cools off for you! I am very thankful our heat wave has passed. Still hot but more what I can deal with in the 80's here. Today I have book group so going over to a friend's house for that. Nothing much else on the agenda for the day. I only work 2 days next week so looking forward to some rest and relaxation time. Will probably work on a house project but nothing too involved.
  17. So glad to see you posting You have been missed! I am a great fan of emojis too
  18. Hope you have a fabulous Birthday!!
  19. Littlesister I hope GS does well in his new apartment. And that your knee starts to feel better Annarchy so worrisome when the Dr's office isn't as proactive as they should be. I hope your DH stabilizes and the Dr's office starts providing better care. Jeepers glad it hasn't been horribly hot for you this summer. We are managing just fine. I got out and watered the garden tonight, gave the chickens some cool watermelon they seemed to like it. Thursday it's forecasted to be 100, which is the hottest it's been this week. I am looking forward to the weekend when it's supposed to be back down to the low 80's. I ordered two dwarf apple trees which are supposed to arrive the week and want to plant them ASAP but thinking better to hold off a day or so until it's not quite so hot
  20. Miki glad you arent' in pain right now and have a plan and hope they pass once broken up without too much pain. I'm worried abt MtRider too. We are thinking of you Jeepers we gave up cable years ago and haven't looked back. Prime- with Paramount Plus, and YouTube and Netflix are the only services we use. We don't watch a lot of tv but I watch a lot of homesteaders and enjoy learning about gardening and canning on You Tube. Littlesister I am sure you will be glad to have your space back! It's hot and humid here, heat index over 100, but I just went out early and watered and took care of the chickens and then stayed inside in the A/C all day. Turned in the last big project for awhile and now I can get back to my normal workload.
  21. Jeepers glad some things are getting done even though you are waiting for the permits. Littlesister glad you got the books moved. Miki hope you found something fun at the sale. Today I went to our local farmers market for the first time, not a lot there because it's the Balloon Fest weekend and most of the vendors are at the bigger venue at the park. But I picked up some onions and peppers and local honey and a Porthos houseplant and found out about the local gardening club which has meetings once a month on Thursdays so I will probably check that out. Came home and chopped and froze the onions and peppers and made some cranberry dump chicken and put that in the freezer. Then I went out to turn over the garden. Pulled up the squash, cucumber and zucchini and pumpkin vines that were done producing, did some weeding and then it got too hot so I called it a day. Hoping to plant some fall garden crops tomorrow. Will have to water really good because it's supposed to be super hot and dry for the next week.
  22. Thinking of everyone affected on Maui fire is such a terrible thing. Brought back scary memories of the fires in OR a few years ago, people I know lost everything and are still trying to regain equilibrium. Found out today that my FIL is being put on hospice. Feeling sad about that even though I'm not surprised. He's had Parkinson's for a number of years now. Glad we were able to go out this summer to visit so Ben had a chance to see his grandpa for a whole week while he was still interactive and able to get to know him.
  23. Sounds like everyone is doing ok, but be sure to ask around and find a new Dr if you're not happy with the care you're getting. I get concerned about you all when I hear your Dr isn't on the ball. I need you all to stay healthy ok? Glad your BP came down Littlesister. That Lifeline screening is well worth the cost. Really nothing much to report today just worked and harvested a few pumpkins and a butternut squash from the garden. My Squash are almost done and I think I'll pull out all the vines this weekend and re-plant with some cool weather crops before it's too late.
  24. Hope you were able to get the shelves out Littlesister! Miki hope the CT shows the stone isn't causing any serious issues Jeepers I really hope by this time next year you have peace and are in your new place with this whole mess behind you. Today I made Mock Pineapple and it was a lot of fun to try something new. cooked 2 qts squash diced into tidbit sized chunks in 24 oz pineapple juice, 3/4 c lemon juice, and 1 1/2 C. sugar and then pressure canned it for 90 minutes. I got 2 quarts and it smells amazing in my kitchen. Looking forward to using it for pineapple upside down cake or something yummy this winter.
