  1. Should we blame the smell on climate change. This is really getting to be obnoxious. I saw a picture of china on the news and it was so foggy from pollution it was crazy. But we can't have natural gas which is the cleanest utility around. Drive electric cars we can't afford and no meat. But you can bet politicians and China will have anything they want. It's called Communism. I do believe we are heading in that direction. Just look at Venezuela. We are heading into that direction. It is not pretty over there. I think Dazey Luther has several articles about that. We are now a 3ed world country from what I keep hearing. It does make me wonder if a lot of these things are done on purpose. And I believe most of them are. I know accidents can happen but this is way over the top. Sabotage at it's best.
  2. Agreed Ambergris. Banks and insurance companies are only in it for the money. I hate my bank. Third merger and even worse. I do have Chartway federal credit union and when after DH passed and I had huge checks coming in I used them because I knew I would not have any issues. All went very smoothly. Had I used Truest for that, it would have been a big hassle. Been outside weeding gardens all morning. With all the rain we had it has been a mess. And is still muddy but manageable. Had to come in to take a break. Lunch as I never ate breakfast and ice water. Really tired now. And my shoulder is starting to hurt again. But I will take care of that before I go back outside. Been a bit foggy today. Seems to be blowing in from the Canadian fires. But not bad. Jeepers, I am for you to get this bank mess resolved soon. You might need a lawyer before it is over. Talk with the insurance adjuster to see what they can do. I think any other checks I would just use your other bank if possible and not go through BOA. Seems it would be a lot easier. But not sure how State Farm or BOA would deal with that. I have State Farm but never had to put in a claim as of yet. Hope it never happens. But you never know with weather these days. Or floods and fires.
  3. Jeepers, please be careful breathing that stuff in. It is not good from what I have heard. Don't know if wearing a mask for that smoke would help or not. But anything that would keep you from breathing it in and bothering your throat and lungs would be worth a try. We had it several weeks ago but it wasn't as bad as what you described. Wonder if it will come back in this far again. I hope not.
  4. Miki and Jeepers, he gave me some things to look over. This is only a part of my retirement. over half is in a fixed and safe haven. I do collect a monthly amount from interest on that. And that one is growing. I am thinking about what he said about going a bit risky and then I have total control over that amount of money. I get the contractor paid off and then I still get a monthly check from it but it will be diversified into different things so if something goes down another will more than likely go up. Plus I have access to that one so I can take out money if something needs to be fixed. But what I am looking to do is rebuild my emergency funds back up. So this might work out better though I really don't like doing anything risky. And yes age has a lot to do with it. I now have well over what my DH and I retired on and am in good shape for that. So time to use some of that money is the way I am looking at it. Right now the interest rates are up so that is a positive. After my financial planner left, I was thinking about going outside and doing some weeding but my energy got up and left me. So tomorrow is another day. Went through a few more things and getting ready to empty the other linen closet outside of bathroom door. I don't even know what all is in there other than sheets, blankets and pillows. Need to go through all of it to see what I need to keep and what needs to go. Already giving GS 2 sets of sheets for when he moves into his apartment. So a lot of things can go to him such as pillows, towels, blankets that I am no longer using. I don't really need this much stuff. I used to have 3 bedroom suits for all 3 bedrooms and now I only have my bedroom suit as the last of the bedroom suits will be out either this coming weekend or next. I will keep at least one extra set for the sofa bed I am going to buy for the living room. And that should be enough. Then if my GD from Washington or GD from CA comes in to visit I will have a bed in living room for them but I am no longer going to make things so comfortable that they want to stay. Can't do that again. To hard on me trying to keep up with cleaning up behind grown kids.
  5. Miki, I know what you mean about being tired of being tired. I get like that a lot these days. Mt. Rider, glad you have a good doctor now and is helping you with your issues. Hopefully you will be back on the right track again soon. Just take it easy right now and try not to overdo. Glad you are now going to get the electric fixed. Jeepers, I don't know what to think with your issues. I hope the bank gets your money straight soon. You don't need these delays like this. I hope you don't have this issue with the second check. They do like to hold on to your money as long as possible. Financial planner came today. I will be getting the money to pay off the contractors. But on the part of getting myself a raise I have 2 options. I can go more risky and get more money a month and will have access to the money if I need to get to it for something that breaks down. Or I can go with a fixed rate and still get the money to pay off contractors, but would get less money a month. I am thinking of going more with the more risky one as I can get out more money if I need to. So he gave me homework to do and then figure out which way I think is best for me. I have till July 11th to get it figured out. He said my house has become a money pit and I should sell it. Is he out of his mind? He knew my DH just didn't want to mess with fixing anything and now I am stuck having to do it. Once it is finished and most of it is it won't be a money pit and I don't look at it like that. It is just stuff that needs repairs and now the remodel is done with the corroded pipes all replaced. And much easier for me to clean and take care of. He said he was going to send me pictures of condos. I am not living in a condo where I have to pay HOA's and no garden space. That is not me. Now if he wants to talk me into buying a farmhouse with some land that would be a different story. Now to get back to work on house and go through some more things. Looking like rain again. Haven't checked the squash yet but did check tomatoes. Nothing ripe on those yet but are doing good so far.
  6. Mt. Rider, we have had enough rain here for both your mom and me. And I am hoping it is over for a while. I really need to get out there and do some weeding. Ground was still really wet this morning when I went out to check everything. But was able to pick some squash. I am in The Northern end of Suffolk.
  7. Jeepers, You might have to call the insurance company and tell them what happened. There may be a way they can get involved with the bank and do something. We have 10 on your side here for stuff like that. Companies don't like to be called out when they do wrong. you could call them to help you out. I don't think you have to show up on TV though. You could try with BOA first to see what happens. I know that is so frustrating and no excuse for a bank to do that. Mt. Rider, I am so glad you are making good progress with this doctor. It does seem to be helping from what you are posting. Today, I gave both bathrooms a deep cleaning. Then cleaned kitchen and mopped floors. Went out early this morning and picked some squash. Took some of the squash to my neighbor. Had one cucumber that had rotted from all the rain. It wasn't quite ready to pick yet but the rain took care of that one. Hopefully the other ones will do well. We had rain again last night and hoping we won't have any tonight. Haven't checked the weather report yet. Also did some dusting. Need to get my things together for the Financial planner tomorrow. Hoping all goes my way. I will be able to get the rest of the construction paid off and have that out of my way. Also trying to get things ready for GD's baby shower. I have some things for her but need to get wrapping paper. The rest will be here tomorrow that I had ordered. I think that might be about all I do. Lots of different size clothes, diapers, baby hamper, and some other cute things. I want to get cloth diapers but still looking for the ones that are plastic lined. I saw a couple of places but they wanted something like $30 for one. There should be some out there somewhere cheaper than that. Those are washable and she wouldn't have to keep buying disposable diapers. Big savings on diapers with the reusable ones.
  8. Ambergris, glad the message got through and you hopeful were able to get to your class. Seems they need to work on communications around there. Hopefully if enough people complain about it as well as those businesses they might fix the issues. Jeepers, going to ask my GS if he can help me with the painting but he also has never painted before. But always a first time. The arm he broke a few years ago is giving him a hard time. When he holds his arm out the hand starts shaking. Don't know if it's coming from the brake and possibly a pinched nerve or maybe carpal tunnel. He just picked up his insurance cards yesterday from my house so he plans on seeing the doctor about it. Hope they get the issues solved. I have been going through all kinds of things today. Redid the new linen closets that are now in both bathrooms. I can find what I need and everything has its place now. Still a lot to get done but it's coming. Tomorrow I need to clean up house as the financial planner will be here Wed. afternoon. Nothing I can do about the living room, but he knows I had construction going on and that my GS was living here. So just some dusting and mopping floors and cleaning bathrooms tomorrow. And cleaning off the kitchen counter again. I did find my dining room table though. Yeah I had everything piled up on it. All cleaned off now and that room is cleaned up.
  9. Jeepers, that was a really bad tornadoes. Hope there isn't going to be an ongoing issue all summer with them. They can do a lot of damage in more ways than one. We have another tropical storm brewing. Hoping it won't turn into anything. Just watching for now.
  10. Hoping we don't get any bad weather, but sounds like we have something coming our way this week. Have had off and on rain and thunderstorms so far. But nothing really bad. for anyone living in an area where the bad weather and tornadoes might be forming. We don't have large trees in yard as we took all the pine trees down. We do have several Japanese trees but they don't get large enough to cause any damage if they are taken down in a storm. Would make for good firewood if that happens though.
  11. Mt. Rider, glad to know all went well with the surgery for your DH. Now to just take it easy and heal up. And for you to get that needed rest from the trip. Hopefully all the work around your house will get done soon and the electrician will get well so he can get your electric fixed. Becca Anne praying for some relaxation and a safe trip back home. Jeepers, I really hope the work goes fast on your house once they get started. You need to get that sold fast. GS came over to wash his clothes and take a shower today. I really think being out on his own has turned out to be a blessing in disguise. No hoodie, just a short sleeve tea shirt. He really needs to stop wearing hoodies all summer it is to hot for that. He is talking more like a human than that mumble jumble type of talking. I really hope he is getting his act together now. He really is starting to be the GS I used to have. Back to his old self again. We talked about the garden and he already has plans for next year. First thing he did when he got out of car was to go around and check on the garden. I am glad he never lost interest in that. Been going through all my spices and moved them to the 6 ft long closet that is in hall. I got part of them organized and just set the rest in there for now. GS has an idea to set them up similar to how the stores has them. But I need to find some dividers. Might have to get clever on that one. I am packing up the type of spices he uses along with a box of salt and pepper. Then he can go through and see if there is any other spices he would use. A lot of them are spices I grew and in mason jars. All dehydrated. I used up all the onions I had dehydrated so will need to do some more of those. Lots to get done tomorrow and I really should be in bed by now but just not tired or sleepy. Been that way for a few days now. I guess it's just a lot on my plate right now with kids coming to move out furniture and then GS moving his stuff out in August. I packed up one dresser of his clothes and need to move them all to the living room. At this rate I won't be able to walk through the living room. But it is only temporary. I just don't like the idea of the financial planner coming into house with the mess it is in right now. But it will be what it will be. I found a Plumber for the hot water tank and a painter to paint rest of house. But might have to paint one room one time and come back later to paint the living and dining rooms. Plus the hall and foyer. I need the window in pantry painted but not sure I want him to see that room. So might paint that window myself. Those walls were painted about 4 or 5 years ago so really don't need painting again. But the windows in this house is the all natural wood and looks bad. So painting all of that. It is a 3 step process and I think I can handle the one window in pantry. Otherwise a painter would be much faster than I would be and my hands are not sturdy enough to paint the line at top of wall and ceiling. I would have wall paint on ceiling and vise versa.
  12. Jeepers, It's a lot of work but once you are moved to Indy and that house in Ohio is sold, you will have so much of it behind you and can just relax a few days and then start getting the Indy house set up like you want. Yep I think we were posting at the same time. Granddaughter just texted me that she is back home. So glad she is safe and sound. I just realized a while ago that I have canned water under the bed that GD is taking. I have to find a place to store it temporary till the furniture is all out and I can get the room painted. So much to get done. But I will get there. At least the dining room table is cleaned off now. All of that stuff is now put in its proper place. Might start looking at a place to put the canned water tomorrow and maybe go ahead and move it all out. Then I need to take the books off the bookshelf in hall that sits right in front of that bedroom door. I will just box those books up and move the bookcase into the small bedroom i am using for pantry. That bookcase is going back into the front bedroom anyway. So it will be fine in pantry for a while. GS will be here tomorrow to wash clothes and then I am thinking either next weekend or weekend after DD will be here. GD and her DH will be here next weekend and the weekend after. Going to be a lot of fun around here. At least she didn't see the baby clothes that was sitting on my bed. That is for the baby shower, so I need to get them wrapped ASAP. We are about to get a thunder storm. It is lighting and thundering now.
  13. We will get some of it Monday night in that 2ed round. Also Tropical storm Brett and Cindy. Brett is falling apart and Cindy is not spinning as much but will be heading toward the Bermudas. But neither will make it to hurricane status. We had no rain today but looking like it will start up again on Monday night. I'm already prepared so guess I'll be ok. Jeepers stay safe with the rain and hope it will all be nothing but rain and no tornados. in Indy or Ohio.
  14. I'm betting the spider survived as well. That is a good one.
  15. Well, I had a nice surprise today. Granddaughter stopped by for a while. I was busy going through things and getting ready to load the car up again for Goodwill. Didn't know she was coming. So didn't get much done today like I was hoping. But was glad to see her. She's really showing now. Baby is kicking good. But still a ways to go. She took a few of the baby blankets I had made back with her. She will be here either next week or the week after to get the bedroom suit. Her DH will be coming home next Friday. And they have 2 weeks to find a house as he has to report to Coast Guard in two weeks. She is hunting for a house now and has a real estate lady helping her. They are looking to rent a house. Living on base is out as there is a long waiting list and they don't have that kind of time to wait for one. Then while she was here. DD texted and said they will be coming in but I am not sure when. Guess I will know for sure when they pull into the driveway. Can never pin them down on a time. It would help right now as the house is still a mess and I would like to have things out of the way when they come. But it is what it is. Kids are unpredictable. You just never know when they will show up. GS decided he was coming tomorrow to wash clothes. I had to text him to find out about 4 pm when I didn't hear from him. He is helping his friend clean house today. We didn't get the rain today that I thought we would get. It did get cloudy for a while but no rain. Sun is out now. So tomorrow if it is try enough i will weed garden. Tried to do a little this morning but was still to wet. I found the dining room table though. It's now all cleaned off and I hope it stays that way. I think once I can get the stuff out of living room and back into that front bedroom I can really start doing the serious organizing. Everything is piled up in living room right now from that bedroom. All sewing stuff, craft and office stuff. Plus a lot of GS's stuff. I will find another place for it once I can get other things out of the living room. Maybe stack it in garage with the furniture he's taking just to get it out of house. Then once the furniture for him is out of garage I can go full speed ahead on getting that redone. Painting, and the floor as well. Seems like I can only get one room at a time painted instead of having someone come in to do it all at once. But it will get there. I would really like to move out of this area but at my age I just don't know. Jeepers I don't know how you are holding up to all that you have going on. The moving was bad enough but then the flood on top of it. That is a lot to take in.
  16. Yes, pictures for sure. Becca Anne have a safe and enjoyable trip. All of my Grandchildren and daughter has been texting me off and on all day. One in Washington is still texting me. GS will be here tomorrow to wash clothes and shower. So not a lot done today. Just some sorting out of things and trying to get the dining room table cleaned off again. Don't know how that table keeps getting piled up. The dust from construction seems to be coming out of the woodwork. I keep dusting and it keeps coming back. Hopefully it will settle down. Need to start deciding on what color paint I want for the front bedroom. It will be my office, sewing room, and craft room. So looking at something bright though that is the room the sun comes in on and is a very bright room anyway. It stays warm in there during the winter more so than rest of house. Need to clean out that bedroom closet also. And get that painted. I want to take out the wire shelves in there as they are falling apart anyway and put wood shelving in there. Got my Gas bill today and was shocked. Only $9.43. Had a $35.00 credit for some reason. I'll take that. Now just waiting to see the electric bill. But not due till middle of July. So have a wait on that. It won't be like the gas bill though. I am hoping by the end of September I can go ahead and get den and living room furniture. By then I should have the whole house back together. If the kids get all the furniture and other stuff out and takes it home with them. I am no longer going to be the AAA storage unit for what they don't want. I am really putting my foot down on all of that. I cleaned out the hall closet of their stuff and boxed it up. I want them to go through it and take what they still want and then the rest goes. I had to do that with my DD and Step D as well. Put a stop to them and now with the Grandkids. Just to much junk for me to have to deal with. To old for this mess. Maybe a tiny house would work. No room for other peoples things in that.
  17. Don't think you can kill it. That is really awesome. I love it.
  18. Jeepers, my lawn guy is the same way. He likes getting paid in cash. I think this digital dollar mess starts next month. Don't know how they are going to do it. But I'm not liking what I am hearing about it. Still working on a closet. Pulled all the shampoos out of it and boxed it up. I will give the kids a chance to go back through it since it belongs to them anyway. Otherwise I will put in garage on shelf for future use. Going to bank in the morning to pull out money for the lawn guy for the next month. He just cut the grass Monday so will get out enough to last till end of July. Might take out a bit more also for my emergency stash. Hot water take still on hold. need to check the bucket in morning but don't think it is half full yet. If it is not raining tomorrow will pull the new hot water tank out of garden shed and put in garage. Will be calling the plumber soon to put tank in.
  19. I like fishy pictures Jeepers. They look cute in the bathroom. Cleaned the ceiling fans and did some dusting. Still taken it easy with shoulder and arm. Pain is gone again but it just feels heavy in the arm and still swollen but is going down some. This isn't helping me to get things done around here. I have the financial planner coming next Wed. and the kids will be here I think this coming weekend. Or maybe next weekend. I can't seem to pin them down on an exact date. They never let me know when then are actually coming. If they keep that up I might not be here. Maybe then they will get the idea to tell me a date and not surprise me every time. I have to move things out of the way for them to get the furniture out of bedroom and it would be nice if I had a timetable to get it done. To many projects going at one time. But figuring things out for how I want to organize. Not as easy as I thought it would be.
  20. Jeeper, it would be a bit harder to get mulch out of the car. But I always figure a way to do it. GS will help me as soon as things dry out. We got more rain today and still expecting even more. So the weeds are loving it more so than the squash.
  21. That Tropical storm Bret I think is not going to hit here. Its heading for the Caribbeans. I am thankful for that but we will have rain through next Wed. but that is subject to change. Weeds are growing just fine. I am going to have a fun summer pulling weeds. I will need to get mulch soon but don't need to be lifting heavy bags of mulch right now. Thinking about getting GS here on a weekend after things dry up a bit to work outside to help me with it. He can do the heavy lifting though he is having issues from his arm he broke at 18 years of age and his mother didn't get him the proper help. Don't think it healed right or he has a pinched nerve around the elbow area. He broke it in 3 places. Wrist, and 2 places around the elbow.
  22. Miki, your daughter sounds like my daughter and grandkids dropping off all the hair products and leaving them. I haven't pulled them out of that closet yet, but maybe I should do the same thing. Bartering items maybe. But I would have to box them up and put on shelf in garage because I really don't have room in that closet for them. Winter won't be an issue but it does get hot in the garage in summer. Wonder if the heat would effect shampoos and conditioners as well as hair spray and such. I don't even use hair spray. Need to think about it. I am thinking of just donating it. But from what I am hearing on several news cast and the fact we are about to go digital currency as soon as next month and they are not saying much of anything on Newsmax, Fox news or local news. Guess this administration wants it kept as a surprise. If this really does happen our cash won't be good for more than a few months before it turns to TP. Been working in pantry and linen closet. Arm and shoulder started getting sore and starting to hurt so backing off for a bit. This arm and shoulder couldn't have happened at a worse time.
  23. Annarchy glad you made it to Texas safe and sound. Jeepers, Hope you can get into clinic soon and that kidney infection clears up soon. And hoping you get your money soon for the contractors to start on your house. You really need to get all of that finished. Mt. Rider, praying for you and your DH. praying that this time all goes well and it will be over soon. And you can look at those new tires as a prepping necessity for the long haul. Still going through a lot of things and trying to get house back together as much as possible till furniture is out of the house. Then I can go full steam ahead on getting house back like I want it and get my sewing machine set back up so I can make the bathroom curtains. I have the material for the garage curtains but need to decide how I want to make them. My windows are not standard windows but are 48" wide and 50" long. And I need a ladder to clean them as in garage they are high up. Plus there are 3 of them. I need to sit down and go over all my financial stuff as my financial planner will be here next Wed. I need to make a lot of changes because of the digital currency that is coming down the pipes next month. Not sure of how I will do all this yet. But will have it figured out before Wed. Haven't had breakfast yet as some mornings I just have coffee and then a late breakfast or as they call it brunch. Then it's back to work. Went to Goodwill yesterday on the way to Kroger and emptied the car. So time to reload again. Jeepers I am beginning to think I need to call the Got Junk guys. Don't know what they cost but might be worth it. Although Goodwill is within walking distance of me near the Food Lion.
  24. Jeepers the Azo is a good thing to have in your medical kit. And welcome to socialized medicine. Definitely not what it used to be. Glad things with the house is starting to come together. You need that done ASAP. I spoke to soon. My arm was doing fine this morning but then I started doing things and now it is hurting bad again. I am thinking it might be carpal tunnel. Will need to get it checked out if it doesn't heal up soon. Got clothes and towels washed this morning and did some work in pantry. Never went to Wal mart but to Kroger. Didn't buy much in food but found some things like plastic containers and things I needed. Also for $20 I got a small electric fryer and a rice cooker. My old one bit the dust a few years ago and I never bought a new one. I figure for as much as I will be using them these will work. The rice cooker even has a steamer basket. That would be good for steaming shrimp.
