  1. Euphrasyne, if you need to wash clothes while waiting for yours to come. You can always come here to wash clothes. My washer is a small one but will do a good size load of clothes.

You are right about the camper; GS would probably smoke in it. Though he did stop vaping again. For how long this time, who knows. But he is still smoking cigarettes. I can smell it on my patio.

Mt. Rider, hope your DH doesn't come down with your cold and I hope you get over it soon. And yes,  for that situation with your DH's client.

Jeepers, you should get a lot more for your house than you think. All new toilets, sinks, carpet, kitchen tile, etc. will also count in the price of the house. Check to see what the prices of houses in your area are selling for. That will give you an idea about your house. If you can take a virtual tour of any that are on sell though some of the agents, it will tell you a good deal about selling your house.

Themartinchick, congratulations on retirement, even if it is simi retirement.

Got the potatoes canned and had some left over for dinner tonight. So fried those up and grilled chicken on the Ninja grill.

  2. I have those same pavers all the way around my house for the flower beds. As well as around the patio.  I like them.

My challenge now is changing up to how to care for a baby and work on a garden at the same time. I don't want to give up on the garden this year with the price of food in stores, but at my age, I am slower than I used to be, and it has been 22 years since I took care of a baby. She loves the outdoors so that part is good. But when in stroller she wants to ride not sit in it and just watch me work. And so, the crying will begin till we go strolling and I get nothing done. She has plenty of toys and teethers. But she also likes to be walked, strolled and entertained. This is going to be a fun challenge. But somehow, I will have to work it out.

  3. Necie, that looks like a nice camper. And gives me an idea. By a camper and park it in driveway. Anyone wanting to move in here again can live in camper. At least I wouldn't 't have to spend half my time cleaning up behind them.

GS has to wait 30 days before he can take the test again. I am betting he will fail it again because he won't study for it.  He still has to take the phycological part of the physical. Not sure when that will happen yet. They don't do that one at the same time as the regular physical.  So, if he passes the test this time and they get the phycological part of the exam done and they figure out 3 of the 5 wavers he has, then he will be off to boot camp. I will give him another 6 months give or take depending on how long it will take the coast guard to get their act together on the wavers. Then I will ship him off to his mother's house and he can transfer his job to the Food Lion where his mother lives. I am done.

I was so tired yesterday after the baby went home. And now going to keep her for 5 days next week. I will be worn out.  I just can't seem to keep up.

Potatoes are soaking in water right now like the recipe called for. So just taking a break. I have everything ready to go once the potatoes are ready to go in the jars.

Jeepers, don't fret over the house.  Kitchens and bathrooms are what sells a house. So, you should be in good shape to get it on the market now. People move in and want to put their own stamp on it such as painting walls the colors they want and such. So, they can fix any imperfections they need to do.

Mt. Rider, hope the person your DH is helping can get everything straight soon. Glad it is calming down some.

It is raining here this morning. But the guy that cuts my grass did come yesterday. The yard was a total mess. But he got the work done. I asked him about the mulch he was supposed to put down last year and the bushes on side of house. He forgot and asked why I didn't call him. Because he never gave me his card. Now I have a card. And will call him. But he didn't cut the bushes down and wants to use round up to kill the weeks in flower beds. Nope, Nada going to happen. And I told him so. Told him I had the flower beds cleaned out and ready for the mulch and he never showed up and now I am not sure I can get them cleaned out on my own with knee and shoulder issues. So will see what happens.

  4. I am thinking it could be in the violet family of sorts. If I remember when my grandson gets home from work, I will see if he still has that app on his phone and show it to him. That might be able to identify it.

  5. Baby went home a while ago. Mom had a long day of work. 5 meetings. Baby did good, but she is teething now. And not happy about it. But we got through it. I will be keeping her 5 days next week. So, I won't get anything done. I just keep getting further and further behind on things. But she needs the help right now. Though she is ready to quit. She's just not quite ready to, living where they do. She said the rent is high but was all they could find at the time. They are trying hard to save up for a house. Seems GD's DH's mother is a substitute teacher, and she is working all next week. So, no splitting the babysitting.

Right now, I am too tired to work on the office, but did a little bit before GD got here.  I will give myself an hour and then get back to working on the office. Might work till GS gets home.  Not used to keeping babies again after 22 years of not having babies to care for. And never a 22-year-old to deal with. But it will all work out in the end. I least I can say I feel needed.

  6. Jeepers, hang in there. It's almost over. I know how frustrating it can be. I went through it with the construction and remodel on my house. Then the 2 replacement windows, the well and a few other things. But it is nearing the end.

GD will be here around 10 with the baby.  I have already cleaned up the kitchen and den from GS's mess. I really need to hold him down and have a talk with him about cleaning up behind himself. For what good that will do.  I don't think I can survive another year of waiting for him to get into Coast Guard. Might have to start looking for him a room to rent or very small cheap apartment. But he doesn't pay his bills before his wants so not sure it will work. Dropping him off at mom's and running sounds like a good idea. But his job is here, and they have a Food Lion where she lives. Wonder if he could transfer.

Going to try to go through things late this afternoon after the baby goes home. I can't get anything done while she is here because this baby loves attention, and fights sleep really bad. And even with a different bottle she just will not take one. So, mommy is working out of my dining room today.

I have so much to do and just can't seem to get it fit in between grandchildren. And no help. Though GS is working on the firewood. But that is only on his days off and weather permitting.

  7. Our weather is a bit warmer for this time of year. Low 60's for the most part. But still some cooler days.  Between babysitting and trying to get my house back together and canning a little at a time. I need to work the garden in between all of that. Now I have to can the potatoes on Sat. because GD wants me to babysit tomorrow so she can do her meetings. So, I lose another day of working around the house and getting the garden set up. I am beginning to wonder if I should just bypass on the garden except for maybe tomatoes, cucumbers and squash till things slow down around here. But that is not what I want to do. And it looks like I might have to find someone else to cut grass. It is already getting long, and the yard man is nowhere to be seen.  My neighbor said she hasn't seen or heard from him either.

  8. Mommato3boys, we are all just glad you are ok where the wildfires are concerned. I know all to well about having to go back to work and getting up so early and then with everything that needs to be done at home. It will take some time to get into the swing of things, but you will get there.

  9. I agree. I wouldn't have turned that job down either in this day and age.

Momma3boys, glad it was nothing about the fires and you having to evacuate.

Jeepers, 4 of the 5 waivers didn't even apply to him. So, his recruiter has to sort it out. But it means it could be a year before he gets called in for boot camp. Plus, he has to retake the test because he doesn't listen to me and study the book. He said he had been studying online but I know how he is. He never studied for it. And since he has been back. Yep, he has torn up the bathroom. Shoes and socks all over the den floor, messed up the kitchen and it goes on and on. Yep, he's back. He took off somewhere a bit ago. He has to work tomorrow also.

  10. GS made it home safe. He will have to take the test over again because he missed the points he needed by 2 points. On the physical they want him to take 5 wavers. One being because of the kidney stone he had last July. So, he is talking to his recruiter about that. The others didn't even pertain to him which is why he wants to know why he has to agree to 5 wavers. He pasted that kidney stone a long time ago and has not had any more issues. But it is what it is. So, another trip for the test at some point and then will find out about the wavers. This mess is taking too long.  I was really hoping this would be it and he was out of house and off to boot camp. So, a bit of disappointment there.

  11. Seems like every time we turn around there is a recall on something. Need to find workarounds for cheese and other products at this rate. Glad I am just an old country cook. I don't use a lot of cheese other than in tacos, or grilled cheese.

  12. Baby went home a while ago. I am babysitting again tomorrow. So not getting potatoes done before Saturday. I am so over having to put things off but who can say no to such a cute baby.

GS is getting ready to leave the Coast Guard base. Will find out how it went when he gets home.

So, all I got done today was to clean out the fridge and clean kitchen. Babies take up so much time when all they want is you to play with them, walk them and go for a stroll. She's not spoiled at all.  :engel-smilies-10-1:

I will be working hard on Saturday to get caught up as much as possible. I should go ahead and cut up the potatoes, but I am tired now. Baby didn't take a nap today.

  13. Jeepers, I  they get your DS straight with the low blood pressure. And that all the tests come back good.

Necie, you will get it all together. You have been through a lot. Give yourself time to heal.

Becca Anne, you also will get it together. You have a lot going on right now.

GD will be bringing the baby to me between 11am and 12noon.  Got all the trash out to the street, cleaned out the fridge and put away all he meat I canned the other day. Now I am just sitting here reading and drinking coffee while listening to preaching.

I have been enjoying not having my GS here yesterday and so far, today. Didn't have to clean up behind him this morning. That was nice. Got up to a clean kitchen and no mess all over the floor to clean up. I just hope they call him into boot camp soon. My GD said it could be months before they call him in. But hoping since the worst of the bad weather is over, they will just call him in within the next month or two.

After the baby goes home, I will start back again on packing up things to go to Good Will. I have 2 piles now. One to get put where it belongs and one to go.

Miki, thank you for that info about dry canning. I will try that. And put the seasonings in as well.

  14. I don't think it is in the clover family, but somewhere in the weed department. Don't know how easy it will be to identify it. Will wait for more pictures. My GS has something on his phone that identifies all kinds of things.  Don't know when he will get home tonight as he is having the physical today and then they feed him, and he comes home later. I will get him to use that on the picture to see if it can be identified through that. I also want him to put that on my phone. I don't know what they call it though.

  16. Midnightmom, I do agree with that about coating the potatoes. I am just wondering if you really have to coat them. But I am only doing 2 or 3 jars like that but will use those up within 3 months' time. I am looking into it more. Before I start canning on Friday.

Jeepers, I hope your son is doing much better and was able to come home.
