  1. I am honestly dumbfounded by the whole situation. To the point that I don't even worry much about the Avian Flu anymore. Not that I'm giving up on preps, but truthfully I thought this would have gone pandemic months ago. I roll my eyes and shake my head when things start to heat up. So far, many times just to fizzle into nothing. I'm done with the drama of it all. Maybe that is a good thing I don't know, what's the point of worrying everytime things seem to be going south. There is no doubt in my mind that one day something will happen so I will continue preparing and homesteading into a more self sufficient way of life. Just my 2 cents.
  2. Mamacat pm'd this to me early on. I "tagged" you in a post down at the Handywomen shop. Would you throw 2-5 items in and tag someone else? Since some of the ladies don't visit down there, it might be a good idea to cut and paste this PM to send along to whomever you tag. This is what i have to say, people please follow the Rules, please.
  3. Just wanted to say I really did not smack my dh....felt like it though. Heh, bad girl I am.
  4. Either they thought it was funny OR they want to alert people and they do not want anyone to know they are prepping. And yes, ignorance is bliss. Once you are aware there is no going back. Shocking but true. Thanks for posting, it just never ends with the stories and by now you would think there is not a person in the world who is ignorant to H5n1! Geesh.
  5. Quote: Quote: I'm sure that quote was directed at me. He is soooo indirect. Guess he's scared of me huh?
  6. Wait till Snowmom gets drift of this! You guys are in soooo much trouble. Right Snowmom?
  7. Oh my gosh, you are serious! Your kidding right? Oh my gosh I had to read it over 3x, no kidding. I've got goose bumps. I'm in, (sheepishly) I do live far as well. There is no doubt in my mind, you are an Angel. God bless you Darlene!

    Yanno,

It is concerning, but it is possible that the family were all in contact physically with H5N1. I don't know all the logistics of the story nore do I care to dig. I guess I have heard so much allarming news over the past year that this doesn't concern me much more than I've allready concerned myself with. Don't get me wrong my ears are wide open and if I hear of anymore cluster or people dying in a significant amount then I'm off to finish preps. With my luck and not being to allarmed and all with this latest news, this will be IT. I'm not burying my head in the sand.
  9. I thought "Two Peas in a Pod" was cute. "Growing together" Awe, isn't that romantic?
  10. Is he STILL rolling on the floor laughing? Geesh, enough allready!
  11. (((Mother)))) I think I broke that one. I did have fun but I was a little stressed as to what I should send (rolling eyes at myself). Next time will be very fun.
  12. Nana sure seems overly excited! LOL
  13. "Bless My Bloomers" Here is the one I made up...don't know how original it is. "Gardenin Angels Live Here"
  14. Need some homemade baked beans to go with that. How about a big hunk of garlic bread too. I make the best homemade lemonade, garnished with fresh lemon and lots of icecubes made with a sprig of mint leaves in the centre of each cube, so I'll bring a few jugs of that along. It's so refreshing. Doesn't that sound FANCY! I heard the weather is going to be fantastic.

  16. thanks. LunaMother you are right, there are sooo many edible wild plants and wild mushrooms out there that can be eaten. We have a book specifically for our region and it's wonderful. If I had to choose a season for a world wide pandemic to hit, it sure would not be the Winter season.
  17. Snowmom, I did follow the rules. I really didn't want to but I did. Next time I know better, after all it was my first exchange. Adding to say, I probably could have done better, but it wasn't till after my WE was sent that I found and bought a much more suitable WE gift. Saving that for next year.
  18. When checking the expiry dates on the box, I find I can keep most cereals for at least 8 months or so. If the expiry date is Nov/06 and is on sale, I grab 4 boxes.
  19. Bookworm, I got the video in the mail yesterday!
  20. Planted potatoes, sending dh to buy another box, different variety (excellent storage quality) requirements. Therefore turning up ANOTHER patch of garden. Potatoes really require alot of room to grow. How quickly I forget. Yesterday bought some vodka, gin and martini.
  21. I've been keeping an eye and an ear open....specially CNN and honestly haven't heard much?????? I find that odd.
