  1. Yep, My husband had an aunt who lived a very frugel lifestyle. She was 86 when she got dementia. When we put her in a nursing home, we found out that she had planned it so she could be well taken care of. It was nice to be able to have her live well at the end of her life. She was a sharp cookie.
  2. I know what you mean !!! I have "round 2" going today. - thumbprints and spritz today.
  3. Thanks for sharing !!!!!
  4. I remember years ago I wrote to a Co. about a product that was not available in my area ---they sent me a case of the stuff for free. It took me along time to use it up.
  5. As a "receipient" of a dog bite------ it does NOT get better. Once they bite, they will usually be a repeat offender. My neighbors dog went after me, knocked me to the ground and bit me badly. I had been around that dog for 11 years without a problem. After biting 3 different people, she had it put down. Please consider having a talk with your mother. Dog bites are a hard thing to overcome mentally and physically.
  6. The problems are mounting for Obama Care. It is forcing some people off of private pay quality healthcare plans, into low cost medicaid type plans. High deductables and less covered care. I am one of those. I am also losing my Dr. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out. I will go onto the exchanges Oct. 1st and see what I can find. When I do---I will let you all know what I find. Cheryl
  7. Well, I recieved my "letter" from my health care insurance carrier. I have been with them since the 80s. They have informed me that my plan has been ended and a "new" plan is offered to me. It is double what I was paying. It is now completely "unaffordable" to me. I was already paying a high price. I will now have to go on the exchange and get someone elses plan. So, I looked, and they are all a very basic low plans and very high high deductables (5,000 - 6350). I also lose my dr. that I trust dearly. I am totally po'd about this. Has anyone else gotton a letter from their carrier ? - Cheryl
  8. Jeepers, when my fan makes noise, I usually take the vaccum to it. They have a tendency to get dust in there and it starts to plug it up. Just turn it off and then use your brush attachment.
  9. My mom is never "happy" about my dad's garage sale items he brings home-------- until he brought home two very large blue totes full of brand new skeins of yarn last week ! She was sooooo excited ! She crochets afgans for the nursing homes in her area. --I love my mom
  10. Dogmom-----She was a very lucky dog to have all of you. I am absolutely positive that she gave you all of the love she had. She also trusted you to know when her time was over. Please feel sad----but also feel glad that she was yours to love. - cheryl
  11. Robie-- how nice for you and your family ! Congratulations to you all !!
  12. Oh my--it is addicting !!!
  13. Ok, that's a shocking list ! You really have to be on your toes on the GMO stuff. No wonder my grandchildren have so many health issues !
  14. I get the same thing. It is usually the first couple of times that I get some sun in the spring. I take a cool shower and then put some medicated powder on it. It is usually gone by the next day. The powder I use is a Thai product that you can get in an asian market. I call it "cool powder". You could probably use any other medicated powder as well.
  15. Not a great outdoor weekend here on the coast. Wet & rainy. We try to have our campfire cookout---but sometimes mother nature will not help us. Be safe my friends--whatever you all are doing.
  16. With tons of lettuce to harvest--we are havin taco salads tonight.
  17. For my 60th birthday----I bought myself a punching bag and some white leather boxing gloves ! My DH is putting it up in the next few days. We shall see. I will report in after I have a few days under my belt I spent all last week in San Diego with my daughter. We did a 6.9 mile beach bike cruise, which I lived thru. Legs were fine---but the bum hurt like heck.
  18. Nice ! it sounds like he is just what you needed ! furry friends are the greatest !
  19. I just bought some of the Pamona , but have not used it as yet.
  20. WE have a local dairy farmer here in wa. that was raided and property siezed because of raw milk. They were a producer and maker of world class cheese. If you Google Estrella Cheese you will probably get more info. They are now out of business, and selling the farm. It was heart wrenching to everyone here. They and their children worked night & day to make that cheeses what it was -- and it WAS good !
  21. This is the hard part about loving a pet. The time we have with them is very special, knowing that they have to leave us. I am so sorry for your loss.
  22. I have them and use them for all kinds of things. I do not put anything in them that I would consider storing long term. Just extra stuff that I make, ie.. salad dressing, croutons, leftovers.etc
